Intel just admitted it has no way to check if your gaming CPU has been damaged

Right now, there isn't a foolproof way to check if your Intel gaming CPU has been damaged by the Vmin Shift Instability issues that have plagued Intel's Raptor Lake processors. Intel has confirmed that it doesn't have a reliable tool available to test CPUs that might have been damaged following the voltage instability problems that have popped up over the last year.

This is bad news, both for Intel and consumers who own the company's 13th and 14th-gen Core CPUs, simply adding to the pressure the company has faced this year. The chip maker only recently issued a permanent Intel CPU fix for undamaged Raptor Lake processors, after many of the best gaming CPU designs made by the company were found to be causing stability problems in games based on the Unreal Engine.

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred review - Diablo 2, but even better

It's a cold, snowy night in Sanctuary. Crowds have gathered around a stone plinth in Kyovashad, hushed into silence. Reverend Mother Prava stands before them, illuminated by flickering torchlight and, of course, the supposed reverence of the now-fallen Inarius. It feels almost like nothing has changed: Inarius and Lilith are dead, hatred's heart has been pierced, and, like a mindless flock, Sanctuary's denizens are thanking the High Heavens. From the onset, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred instills a sense of hopelessness; a reminder that our Wanderer's journey will always end in bloodshed.

What is the best Diablo 4 Spiritborn build? The first Diablo 4 expansion is nearly upon us, bringing with it new bosses, items, and most importantly, the Spiritborn class. Hailing from the jungles of Nahantu, the Spiritborn's incredible versatility stems from its expert level hand-to-hand skills, Spirit Guardians, and deadly Glaive.

Added with the first Diablo 4 DLC - for which you should read our Vessel of Hatred review - the Spiritborn is one of the best Diablo 4 classes for anyone who wants a flexible class in Diablo 4 that can truly do it all. While you can - and should - dedicate yourself to one or two spirit guides at level 15, you don't have to, so you can utilize all four spirit guides if you so wish.      Best graphics card 2024

What is the best graphics card for gaming? Shopping for a new GPU can mean wading through an often baffling set of numbers in specs lists, as well as weighing up the pros and cons of the different feature sets from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. That's where we can help, as we're not only genuine PC hardware enthusiasts who know our stream processors from our stream decks, but we're also gamers.

Your choice of GPU will have a bigger impact on your gaming experience than any other PC component and by a long, long way. Yes, it's always worth making sure you have the best gaming CPU in your system, as well as the best gaming RAM you can afford, but it's the mighty graphics card that really sits on the throne in your gaming rig, so you need to make sure you nail this choice.

Your GPU is the primary driving force behind the frame rate in your games, and it also determines the resolution and graphics settings you'll be able to use, including ray tracing and some GPUs are much better at handling these settings than others. There are also features that are exclusive to Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon GPUs, such as Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, which also need to be considered.

We've tested all the graphics cards listed in this guide in a number of different games ourselves, so we can say authoritatively which GPU you should buy for your needs, and why. There are also some new GPUs looming on the horizon, with Nvidia's new RTX 5090 soon expected to be the new king of the graphics card world, and the new RTX 5080 hopefully offering decent 4K gaming performance for a much cheaper price when it launches.

The new AMD RDNA 4 GPU lineup is also expected to launch later in 2025, although AMD is rumored to be mainly focusing on mid-range performance rather than high-end 4K gaming with this range.

In the meantime, these graphics cards are the very best ones you can buy for gaming right now, with prices starting at just $249.99 for a great 1080p card, and going all the way up to the mammoth Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 if you want to play games at 4K with all the eye candy enabled.

There's a new gaming microSD card in town, and it looks great for Steam Deck

Patriot has just unveiled its latest microSD card, and it's been designed with a hardcore focus on gaming handhelds such as the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch. Despite this focus on portables, it won't quite be the right fit for the ROG Ally.

Whether the Viper Gaming V30 ends up being one of the best microSD cards for Steam Deck remains to be seen, but Valve's handheld gaming PC, like many gaming portables, is built using the UHS-I speed class interface. This limits the device's maximum read and write speeds from a microSD card, and the Viper card is designed so as not to offer diminished returns like some high-end SanDisk or Samsung cards currently do.

This new Intel Lunar Lake CPU is twice as fast as a Steam Deck, benchmark shows

AMD's hold on the gaming handheld market might finally be under threat. A new benchmark shows Intel Lunar Lake CPUs stomping over the competition with huge performance boosts compared to the AMD chips used in devices like the Steam Deck. It's just one test so far, but if it's replicated, then it points to next-gen handhelds becoming much more powerful.

Intel has been struggling against the tide of AMD wins for some time when it comes to gaming PC performance, but a wedge into handhelds could help boost the company after a long year of setbacks. There isn't a single Intel chip powering any of the best handheld gaming PCs currently on the market, but if this leak is anything to go by, that could be about to change.

As such, the decision to increase the base pay and starting salary for all FromSoftware employees was decided upon.

This comes as the developer continues to support its existing titles, in addition to likely working on new ones. It's been regularly patching Elden Ring following the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on. For example, it's rebalanced the difficulty of bosses and consistently dealt with bugs.

Elden Ring is the most recent FromSoftware title, and it and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC are immediately available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run English Manga Release Confirmed

Viz Media confirmed on social media that it will release the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run manga in English, as well as the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Globetrotter Guidebook. Both have a Summer 2025 launch window. There are no exact release dates for either one yet, however.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is the sixth part of the manga, which hasn't been available outside Japan officially until now. Its run consisted of 24 volumes, which appeared in Japan between 2004 and 2011. The name is taken from the race in which Johnny Joestar and jockeys like Diego Brando, Gyro Zeppeli, and Hot Pants compete.

As for the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Globetrotter Guidebook, that is a 35th anniversary project that's been available in Japan since 2022. It is a guidebook covering places visited from the original Phantom Blood up through JoJolion. None of The JOJOLands appears. So it covers actual places and inspirations for them.

Here is how the covers for both volume one of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run manga and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Globetrotter Guidebook looked in Japan.

Both JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Globetrotter Guidebook will appear in English starting in Summer 2025. The most recent manga part being handled by Viz Media is Stone Ocean, and the anime for that arc aired on Netflix.

Dragon Ball Yamcha Japanese Voice Actor Steps Down

With the release of the new Dragon Ball Daima anime series approaching, Shueisha and Toei Animation announced that Tooru Furuya, the Japanese voice actor for Yamcha, will step down from his role. Ryota Suzuki will replace the veteran voice actor as the new voice for Yamcha.

Ryota Suzuki is a young Japanese voice actor known for his role as Yu Ishigami in the original Japanese dub of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Asclepius in the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, Junichi and Keisuke Wanima in the blue Blue Lock anime adaptation, and most recently as Prince Moriyoshi in The Elusive Samurai.

While no reason was given for the change in voice actor for Yamcha in Dragon Ball Daima, it is likely linked to Tooru Furuya's recent adultery, assault, and forced abortion scandal. The veteran actor already had to be recast in the upcoming Metaphor: ReFantazio for an undisclosed role, and Miyu Irino recently took over as Sabo in One Piece, a role previously held by Furuya.

Dragon Ball Daima will begin airing in Japan on October 11, 2024, and it will be streaming on Crunchyroll. Other Dragon Ball anime adaptations and movies are available on Crunchyroll, and Viz Media handles the manga outside Japan.

Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred

Venomous snakes, overlarge and the color of sinew and raw red meat, slither over a well worn path. Flies buzz around corpses that have been claimed by lush, green jungles. Corruption grows, black tendrils seeping through green-blue waters now turned putrid And somewhere, deep within the vines and ruins of Nahantu, a presence stirs — Hatred manifest. Which is apt, consider Diablo IV's expansion is titled Vessel of Hatred. And while Diablo IV does draw players back to the once explored jungles of this southern continent, Blizzard Entertainment has cast a new light on this region, and used it to expand further on the MMO-lite systems that appeared in the base game.

To say that I was anticipating this expansion would be an understatement. While not the perfect game by any stretch of the imagination, the narrative of Diablo IV had me intrigued as to where the series could go next. There was the familiar strum of an acoustic guitar, the tease of the Prime Evils returning to Sanctuary in some shape or form. Vessel of Hatred builds upon these things, but not in the way that I expected. Because as a series, Diablo has always been straight forward. While the binary lines of good and evil are often obscured, you know that, at the very least, you will be fighting back against the spawns of Hell and their masters.

But instead of plunging players back into the fiery pits and the Realm of Hatred we were acquainted with in the base game, the entirety of this campaign takes place in the jungles of Nahantu. As mentioned previously, this region isn't entirely foreign. Some of it appeared or was mentioned in Diablo II, a game that Diablo IV continues to try and channel to it's benefit and detriment. Or what I believe the general audience, and to some extent even die-hards, remember that game being. It's still gritty and gross. Killer flies attempt to swarm you as snakes dart at you from shallow pools of water. There are abominations that prowl within the jungle, but these enemies are very much the same that appeared in various areas of the base game. It doesn't matter much, as what you kill isn't as important as to how fast you kill it.

Image via Blizzard Entertainment

This new region is rich in culture, taking deep inspiration from Latin America. It's in the architecture, in the clothing the citizens wear, and in the Spiritborn, Diablo IV's new class. Summoning strength from the Spirit Realm, the Spiritborn channels four animals — well, one very large insect and three animals if we're being technical. You can call upon the Rezoka, the jaguar, to deal fire damage in fast, swiping slashes, Kwatli, the eagle, to launch yourself in the air and slam down on enemies to electrify them, crush them with the raw strength given to you by Wumba, the gorilla, or spew poison at your foes with the power of Balazan, the centipede.

Overall, the Spiritborn is a somewhat well rounded class. I liked the option of being able to choose from four different types of damage, even if I favored the burn damage from Rezoka and the poisonous puddles provided by Balazan. Much like the Sorcerer, I felt funneled into specific builds, but I'm liable to give Wumba a shot once the game releases in full. As it stands, the Spiritborn is a nimble, close-range fighter that excels best when you're mashing your dodge button to weave in and out of combat. It reminded me most of Rogue, a class that I previously loved, but have come to otherwise abandon in the late game for the less involved Necromancer. While the Spiritborn is no doubt exhilarating to play, it isn't my speed. But those that love fast and frenetic movement will absolutely enjoy this class, and based on what I played and saw (since Blizzard Entertainment allowed us to group up with other reviewers given access to the game ahead of launch), it seems like it's capable of doing an incredible amount of single target and AoE (Area of Effect) damage.

I ran through The Undercity, one of Diablo IV's new ways to level, which is effectively a series of small dungeons that require you to gather essence from random spawned fonts, while killing enemies to build up time so you don't get kicked out before defeating the final boss and reaping your rewards. You can also offer tribute to increase the amount of rewards you get and what kind. It's a more effective way of grinding out gear and materials than Helltides, for example. My Necromancer was more than strong enough to blast through The Undercity on his own, even on the higher Torment difficulties, due to some good luck regarding a few uniques I picked up, but paired with a Spiritborn, we were speedrunning these micro-dungeons with incredible efficiency.

Image via Blizzard Entertainment

And in the end game the Spiritborn continued to shine, as Diablo IV has edged closer and closer into becoming an MMO-lite. Yes, the base game allowed for you to see players scurrying about in the world, and world quests were kind of a thing that existed but never quite caught on. But Vessel of Hatred takes this a step further with a new end-game dungeon The Dark Citadel. Unlocking it is a chore, and I'm not sure how much I like the idea of weekly rewards tied to what is effectively a World of Warcraft raid appearing in the ARPG. Blizzard Entertainment has also added a Party Finder into the game, which I'm sure many will be using to clear this new gauntlet of content, which cannot be tackled alone. Which is probably for the best, because The Dark Citadel is hard. Like, really hard. This in combination with how the campaign ended, leads me to believe that we're going to get a lot more expansions. And probably not far spaced apart.

Vessel of Hatred continues not some time after the ending of Diablo IV. Lilith has been slain, and her father, Mephisto the Lord of Hatred, has been imprisoned in a stone. If you're familiar with the Diablo series, you've seen this song and dance before. Because for some reason, this seems to be the only solution to imprisoning beings of great and terrible power. The player character is on the hunt for Nyrelle, a young girl who more or less made the decision to seal said Lord of Hatred into the stone, and it now threatens to overcome and wholly corrupt her. Again, the game is not subtle about it's various metaphors and imagery to the very end. And brutality in Diablo IV comes in handfuls in what feels like an attempt to further distance itself from the maligned Diablo III, which arguably had some of the darkest lore the series has had to date.

Violence and death are plentiful because it must be so, the narrative must remain cynical and cyclical even with small rays of hope desperate to shine through. It is what fans want, but it doesn't do the game any favors. I'm not sure if I was more tolerant of it in the base game because I had a deep desire for a new Diablo game, or if I just really loved Lilith. In Vessel of Hatred it feels wanton, necessary because this is what the brand is now. A man is flayed open, driven mad, because that is just the way the world is. People are driven to the brink in the wake of Reaper of Souls, pushed further to the edge because of Lilith's promise of free will and our denial of it. Sacrifices are made out of a desperate sense of self-preservation, but for what?

Image via Blizzard Entertainment

I won't spoil the end of the expansion, but it was so on the nose that it nearly made me laugh. I have a clear idea of what could happen, but given how abruptly it ended and how far away we seem from actually fighting a Prime Evil, I'm not sure when we'll get there. I'm not even sure if I'm interested at this point. But Diablo has always been good at sucking me back in through it's seasonal content, that continues to introduce new mechanics. I will give the development team that, in that Vessel of Hatred is the product of these hit or miss seasonal cycles, pulling what players were most receptive to, and just keeping it in. However, I'm not too keen on some adjustments made to unlocking the aforementioned end game content. I'm just glad I have a high level character to blitz through it and unlocking it before jumping into the next season, because I know I will.

The Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred expansion has me torn. I love a lot of the new changes, and I really wanted to say that I loved the story, but I don't. Since I'm largely someone that does play a game for it's narrative, it's strange to be on the other side of that. Now I'm in it for the gameplay, the number crunching, finding the most effective build to run dungeons ad nauseam while listening to whatever post-hardcore song shuffles through the playlist I've constructed overtime just to keep me going. If anything, I suppose it's fun, and players looking to sink their teeth into more engaging content will have a good time. I just wish I loved it more.

Diablo IV is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Vessel of Hatred will release on October 8, 2024.

Yet another Unicorn Overlord figure is on the way, which means we'll also eventually see a Yahna figma in the future.

Yet another Unicorn Overlord figure announcement is here, and this time it is for a Yahna figma. Good Smile Company is working on it, with Max Factory and Masaki Apsy designing it. There's no release window for it yet. This announcement, like the others, comes after the VanillaWare game's first anniversary.

Unlike some of the other Unicorn Overlord figure reveals, the Yahna figma will be a posable one. This means like all figmas, there will be multiple points of articulation in her neck, arms, body, and legs. She will also come with various accessories at launch. However, since only concept art appeared at the moment, we don't know what those might be. She is shown wielding her staff, as she does in the game, so that weapon will at the very least be included in her kit alongside additional hand parts for posing.

Here's the official announcement art from the Max Factory social media account.

This is the fourth figure announcement for the game to come up in the last week. The first two were Eltolinde and Scarlett scale figure reveals by Kotobukiya at the end of September 2024. Then during WonFes Shanghai 2024, Good Smile Company revealed a scale figure of Virginia

Unicorn Overlord is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X, and the Yahna figma figure is in development.

FFVII Ever Crisis Halloween Cait Sith, Vincent Costumes Appear

Halloween is back in FFVII Ever Crisis, and this year the first banner with the gear costumes and weapons involves new looks for Vincent and Cait Sith. We can pull for both characters' items until October 31, 2024. There is a Pumpkin Fest event with new weapon for Tifa.

There are three featured weapons on this banner. The two Halloween ones are the Crow Familiar gun for Vincent and Witch's Broom megaphone for Cait Sith. Crow Familiar deals lightning damage and has the Shadow Swoop C Ability, while Witch's Broom deals non-elemental damage with Tumbling Tackle. The Cait Sith Ultimate Weapon HP Shout is also on the banner, and that comes with the Heavenly Cheer C Ability.

Here are the official images highlighting the two new Halloween weapons.

As for the FFVII Ever Crisis Halloween costumes for Cait Sith and Vincent, these are the Pumpkin Jacket gear and Crowmaster Suit. Pumpkin Jacket has Eerie Mask and Buff/Debuff Extension+ R Abilities. The former increases magic defense and HP for Cait Sith. As for Crowmaster Suit, it also has Eerie Mask tied to it and adds Levinblade Arcanum. The Levinblade Arcanum skill increases lightning ability damage, which helps with Crow Familiar's attacks.

As for the new Tifa weapon, that's the Black Cat's Paws. You need to exchange event items for it while Pumpkin Fest runs through October 2024.

Pokemon Unite 2024 Halloween Event Adds Darkrai

Back in August, The Pokemon Company International and Timi Studio teased an October launch for Darkrai in Pokemon Unite. Now we have an exact launch date. The character will be playable on October 17, 2024. He will appear alongside the Pokemon Unite Halloween 2024 event.

Here's the teaser announcement. In addition to showing Darkrai in the background, it also shows the Pokemon Unite Halloween 2024 costumes on the way. Decidueye, Lucario, Mimikyu, and Trevenant all appear in seasonal Holowear costumes in the art.

https://twitter.com/PokemonUnite/status/1842187924223226311

There's no trailer showing how Darkrai plays yet. We do know its role, however. It will be one of the Speedster units in the game. That means if we play as one, our best move is to dash into fights with wild Pokemon and attempt to take enemy Goal Zones.

Darkrai first debuted in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, as well as the follow up Platinum.  In order to catch one, someone needed to get the Member Card to gain access to a special area. (This also applied to the Switch remakes.) It is a Mythical type of Pokemon tied to events. In addition to being playable soon in Pokemon Unite, it was also added to Pokken Tournament after launch for some versions of the game.

Pokemon Unite is available for the Switch and mobile devices. Darkrai will become part of the roster on October 17, 2024. As a reminder, service for the game will end in Belgium and The Netherlands on November 30, 2025.

Palworld Zoe Boss Palworld PS5 Version Finally Launches in Japan

While the PS5 version of Palworld was a shadowdrop during the PlayStation 5 State of Play on September 24, 2024, it didn't show up in Japan that day. Pocketpair cited "various reasons" as an explanation for it not having a release date for the region. Now it finally debuted in the country on October 4, 2024.

There was again no exact explanation for the PS5 version of the game being delayed in Japan, despite being made available everywhere at the time. The official press release only included an apology for it not being a simultaneous launch.

In case you missed it, here was that Palworld PS5 launch trailer that immediately showed up after the PlayStation 5 State of Play.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv5t1ycoLaM&ab_channel=Pocketpair

The PS5 version of the game almost immediately launched after a bit of controversy. Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair for patent infringement regarding Palworld and Pokemon in Japan. Pocketpair noted it was a surprise for the company when it happened. The game is known for having similar mechanics, as we use balls to catch characters and many of the "monsters" look shockingly similar or nearly identical to ones from Pokemon

Palworld is available in early access on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC worldwide.

tales of graces remastered tales of the abyss remaster

In an interview with IGN, Yuki Ishikawa, the producer of Tales of Graces f Remastered, stated that he's interested in a remaster of Tales of the Abyss. He also commented on future titles that may appear from Bandai Namco. [Thanks, IGN!]

To start with, Ishikawa stated that he is a personal fan of Tales of the Abyss and that he entered Bandai Namco specifically because of it. He stated that if Bandai Namco ever okays a remaster of Tales of the Abyss and Ishikawa could work on it, he would work really hard so that other fans could feel the same joy he felt when playing through that game.

As for the rest of the interview, Ishikawa shared some of the company's ambitions for the Tales IP. A video from Yusuke Tomizawa, the general producer of the series, back in August 2024 already revealed that Graces's popular battle system is why the team decided to make that the first game in its Tales Remastered Project. Ishikawa reiterated that in this interview. He also commented that Tales of Arise was really popular both domestically and internationally, so this is the perfect time to release a remastered title. As well, he commented on how the team discussed bringing back the old 2D games, and how that might be really different for people who liked Arise. It's unclear from this comment if Ishikawa is stating that 2D remasters are a no-go, or a possibility.

If it does happen though, it would allow fans to purchase and play an officially localized version of some older titles. The last 2D mainline title from Tales was Rebirth back in 2004. That's quite literally two decades ago and Rebirth never made it out of Japan anyway. Though characters from these older games still appear in newer titles like Tales of the Rays, a lot of fans who either weren't aware of Tales or weren't even alive back then may not recognize them. A remaster of these older games wouldn't just be great for the fans who played them on their home consoles, but it would be beneficial for newer players as well.

Finally, Ishikawa echoed a sentiment from Tomizawa's video regarding region and language restrictions. The original Tales of Graces f was only available in four languages and it was only on the PS3. If you could understand Japanese, then you could play it on the Wii too, but that was it. With this remaster, between the additional language options and platforms, people who couldn't play it when it initially left Japan will be able to do so. At the end of the interview, Ishikawa assured fans that Arise isn't the final destination for the franchise and there may be a new non-remastered title some time in the future. Nothing concrete yet though.

Tales of Graces f Remastered will come out on January 17, 2025 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
