This Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti gaming GPU was reportedly found in a junk pile

One person's trash is another person's treasure, but that treasure doesn't usually include an unreleased Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti graphics card. A Redditor claims to have found the prototype of this long-rumored GPU in a computer junk bin, and while it hasn't been tested, it could very well be an important piece of PC hardware lore – if it's legit, of course.

With the RTX 5000 series launch soon approaching, Nvidia is extremely unlikely to release an RTX 4090 Ti now. If it had launched, however, it would have jumped ahead of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 as the best graphics card you could buy. While there were plenty of rumors, the GPU maker never announced that it was considering a 4090 Ti, let alone creating a prototype.

Gigabyte Aorus Elite X870 WiFi7 Ice review: A brilliant white motherboard

If you want to build a clean white PC then you'll need a motherboard that fits your color scheme too, and the Gigabyte Aorus Elite X870 WiFi7 Ice is one of several boards based on the X870 chipset to do so. It looks fantastic, but as it uses the X870 chipset as opposed to the more expensive X870E chipset, you still get premium features such as USB 4, Wi-Fi 7 and PCIe 5.0 M.2 and PCIe slots, but without the $500 price tag.

Of course, if you're just looking for the best gaming motherboard and want to pair it with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, there are plenty of other options, with those that use the older B650 chipset saving you even more money. However, Gigabyte is aiming this board at those who want cutting-edge features that will stand the test of time, such as Wi-Fi 7 and USB 4, in addition to its snazzy design. What's more, this motherboard has larger heatsinks than many B650 and X670 boards, meaning you can add a PCIe 5.0 SSD without it getting too toasty.

Retailing for $290, the Gigabyte Aorus Elite X870 WiFi7 Ice is one of the more affordable motherboards to have been released since AMD's Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 CPUs hit the shelves a few months ago.

While all Socket AM5 motherboards support Ryzen 7000 and 9000 CPUs, the new 800-series motherboards are designed with PCIe 5.0 SSDs and graphics cards in mind and include a range of improved tool-free features too. Gigabyte has also updated its EFI and software to make them more user-friendly, so we expect the Aorus Elite X870 WiFi7 Ice to be easy to install and set up, and not just a pretty face.

The Witcher 4 release date estimate and latest news

When is The Witcher 4 release date? CD Projekt RED initially confirmed the existence of a new game in The Witcher series via a press release in March 2022 and a title update in October 2022. However, we've not heard much about the upcoming adventure since then, with scant details available and mysteries still unresolved. Who the playable protagonist is remains a mystery.

That said, we do know that the upcoming open-world game is the first installment in a new trilogy, though it remains unclear whether it will follow the characters and events of the previous games. While it's safe to assume this new entry to the series won't be called The Witcher 4, we will call it that for now, for lack of a more official term.

Hades style roguelike Realm of Ink is even harder, and better, with new update

I know it might feel like Steam is drowning in Hades-like games, but that just means we're spoiled for choice. Supergiant's roguelike was a landmark moment for the genre, and it seems like everyone has been trying to emulate that success ever since. To me, Realm of Ink is one of the few Hades-inspired games that comes close to that original greatness. Much like Hades 2, this painterly spin on the formula is currently in early access, so if you can pull yourself away from the latest update to Melinoë's adventure, Realm of Ink's new November patch makes the promising game even better.

Intel Arc Battlemage GPU launch date in 2024 is looking more and more likely

Once you've sprung a leak, it's hard to get it to stop. Evidence of this can be seen with the upcoming Intel Arc Battlemage graphics cards, which are steadily being entirely revealed before the expected actual big reveal later this year. The latest addition to the torrent is a new report that corroborates information from prior leaks, as well as providing information from an anonymous source with inside knowledge.

Intel launched its dedicated GPU brand, Arc, in 2022. The cards would never managed to climb onto our list of the best graphics cards, but they've provided a decent budget alternative to AMD and Nvidia. Its next lineup, codenamed Battlemage, is now apparently set for an end-of-2024 launch, according to both today's leak and previous leaks.

What are the best Minecraft shaders? With shaders, you can instantly level up the look of your Minecraft world - even without an RTX graphics card. But with so many downloadable mods for the sandbox game, if you're unsure, let's start with what Minecraft shaders are.

One of the best PC games of all time and the ongoing king of sandbox games, Minecraft has incredible replayability, keeping fans and newbies coming to the game time after time. While the vanilla game still gets regular updates, Minecraft mods, texture packs, resource packs, and shaders can completely reinvent the game, affecting its overall look. For example, mods can completely alter gameplay, and Minecraft texture packs and resource packs change the appearance of existing blocks and add new blocks, respectively. Meanwhile, shader packs give you the same game with fancier graphics and effects.

Best mini gaming PC: top compact PCs in 2024

What is the best mini gaming PC? The traditional image of a gaming custom PC is some hulking behemoth of a machine, with frantically spinning fans, blazing rainbow RGB LEDs, and a monstrously large graphics card. However, the best mini gaming PCs are surprisingly capable now, and can even rival full-size desktop rigs.

Despite their size, mini PCs don't have to skimp on performance, and they're ideal for putting on a smaller gaming desk, or to take traveling. In this guide, we've chosen pre-built mini gaming PCs from the likes of Origin, Corsair, Geekom, and more. Check out our full guide on how to build a gaming PC if you want to choose the components yourself and find the best PC case for your needs.

Some exceedingly small mini gaming PCs, such as those offered by Minisforum and Geekom, take AMD mobile CPUs, which have integrated Radeon GPUs that punch well above their weight, and are even capable of playing games at 1080p without the need for a dedicated GPU.

Meanwhile, other more powerful mini gaming PCs, such as the Corsair One i500, build upward, and can even house a fully water-cooled Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and Intel Core i9 14900K CPU, making them as potent as the best gaming PC designs you can get on the desktop. These are the best mini gaming PCs that enable you to play in small spaces.

If you can't log into FF14, it's typically because of planned maintenance. If you're playing a "PS1-style" game these days, odds are it's a horror game. Sometimes, I worry that the association of PS1 with moody, Silent Hillian dankness has gotten to the point that younger players no longer perceive the original PS1 as a video game console at all. Going by Itch.io's Halloween output, the PS1 was just a rusty bucket of rot and gore in which the faithful might periodically hallucinate the face of Spyro the Dragon.

Here to remind us that the PS1 was capable of colours beside "existential grey" is Water Level/b.l.u.e. EXPLORATION, from New York City-based game designer Hatim Benhsain. It's a free downloadable experiment inspired by b.l.u.e.: Legend of Water, a Japan-only PS1 adventure in which you are a girl swimming through alien ruins with her dolphin.

If these games were people they'd stand waiting at the Pizza Hut buffet and nab ten of the twelve slices of Pepperoni Feast as soon as they're slid under the heatlamps. What to do? For our part, there's little we can do except upgrade capacity, and there are few better ways to do that on a budget than with the WD Blue SN580. It's a cheap yet fast PCIe 4.0 SSD, which the Black Friday sales have knocked down to £47 / $55 for 1TB.

fate/grand order arcade

In May 2023, Sega and Lasengle announced that they would no longer add new playable Servants to Fate/Grand Order Arcade. At the time, I thought that this meant we would soon see a PC or home console port of this game, which is exclusive to Japanese arcades. More than a year has passed since with no such announcement. My predictions obviously did not come to pass. Considering that 2025 will be the 10th anniversary of Fate/Grand Order though, I sincerely hope Sega and Lasengle will bring this game overseas, even if it might not be feasible.

For the longest time, I was under the impression that the GPUs inside arcade machines are more advanced than a home console. This was mostly due to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The graphics were so pretty that I thought it could only exist on arcades, and none of the YouTube videos I saw at the time showed the PS4 or Windows PC versions. Now, of course, I understand the processing power in an arcade cabinet and how it can compare machines like the PS4. Fate/Grand Order Arcade requiring too much processing power for a home console is not, in fact, the reason behind why there isn't a port.

But what is? I'm not sure. Maybe it's for financial reasons; perhaps the projected profit simply isn't worth the loss. Or perhaps the companies thought that people wouldn't be interested in the title. If that's the case, then I hope the widespread interest in 2024 releases like Tsukihime and Fate/stay night will change their minds.

"What's the big idea with this anyway?" You might be asking. "Isn't Fate/Grand Order Arcade just an arcade version of the mobile game?" Well, yes and no. It uses a similar setting and gacha system. You have Servants that have three active skills, multiple passive skills, and a Noble Phantasm they can unleash after their NP gauge is full. Craft Essences work as weapons in that you can equip them to Servants to boost stats or impart useful buffs and effects. Mechanics like Critical Stars and Command Cards still exist, with some alterations.

However, there wasn't a story for the first three years of service. Instead, Fate/Grand Order Arcade is a more of a 3v3 PvP. While you can go grind in the single-person mode, the main meat of the game is the PvP. Now, I can understand some reservations. Some fans might not want to play a PvP Fate game. Sega and Lasengle might worry that it won't have enough players to sustain the servers, especially since it would be competing against other team-based PvP games like Apex Legends or League of Legends or whatnot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RinP2Ze0FPU

There are ways that Sega and Lasengle could secure a player base. Unlike with Concord and hero shooter games like Overwatch and Apex Legends, Fate/Grand Order Arcade is unique enough that it's not stepping on other games' toes. Considering it's part of the Fate franchise, it can guarantee that a percentage of existing Fate fans would pick it up, versus how Concord had to try and make you care about a roster of new characters.

If they're worried about the online PvP element not working out too well, such as a lack of match-ups, they could also try to incorporate more of the mobile game's story to provide a more engaging solo mode. Of course, that would be quite a bit of work and money, and maybe Sega and Lasengle don't want to take that risk. I'm sure they can conduct market research into player interest though, as well as whether an F2P with microtransactions or a priced game with DLC would be more profitable.

As someone who enjoys Fate more for the story and characters than the mechanics, it kind of sucks that Arcade is exclusive to Japan. I really like how the Servants appear in your room as 3D models, complete with animations and dynamic facial expressions when they say their voice lines. That was one of the draws for me, and it still is the main reason why I really want to play Arcade. There are also some Servants who are exclusive to the arcade version, such as Jacques Molay. While formerly exclusive Servants like Proto Merlin and Tiamat have debuted in the mobile game, Molay and Summer Suzuka Gozen are, as of the time of writing, still locked to Arcade.

A common criticism I see online for Fate/Grand Order is that it has very dated mechanics. The lack of auto-battle is a personal strike against it, especially during events that require you to farm until you run out of AP and apples. Of course, Arcade is a separate game so it's not as if it's going to change anything in the mobile version. But it would certainly be a nice way to introduce more players to Fate/Grand Order, especially now that it's easier than ever to get into the Nasuverse.

Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices. Fate/Grand Order Arcade is only available in Japan.

Sparkle's Personality Showcased in New Honkai Impact 3rd Trailer

Now that the Honkai: Star Rail crossover is about to debut in Honkai Impact 3rd this week, HoYoVerse kicked up the marketing by reminding people of what Sparkle is like. The latest trailer for the new Battlesuit and event highlights the Masked Fool's personality and shows her as she adapts to and plays around in various situations.

The new trailer begins with Sparkle at a festival. She's eating a candy apple while fireworks explode in the background. She then disappears and explains she can't take advantage, because she's an actor who needs to prepare. We then hear her wonder if what's to come might "be a performance worth ruining." Her signature goldfish also appear around her as she wonders about this. We then see her watch during various events and take part in various "shows."

Here's the full "Interlude Preparations" Honkai Impact 3rd trailer. An English translation is available if you turn on closed captions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCTkGUOY8gc&ab_channel=HonkaiImpact3rd

We won't just be able to get the Sparkle Thousand-Faced Maestro: Cameo Battlesuit in Honkai Impact 3rd this week. We'll also be able to get an outfit for it. If you manage to get the new character and go through the limited time event, you can dress her up in Fictitious Game. That's a red and black dress with frills and bows.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available on the PC and mobile devices. Honkai: Star Rail is on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The Honkai: Star Rail crossover event with Sparkle will appear in Honkai Impact 3rd on November 28, 2024.

Yu-Gi-Oh Sky Striker Ace - Kagari figure by Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya has revealed a new Yu-Gi-Oh! figure modeled after Sky Striker Ace - Kagari. The company will release the figure in June 2025 with a tax-inclusive price tag of 36,800 yen (~$240).

The figure will have a 1/7 scale with an overall height of 40 cm (~15.75 inches). Kotobukiya will also make sure the back swords are connected with frames that also accurately depict the monster card illustration.

Here are some of the sample images for the figure:

Kagari will be the third Sky Striker Ace character to receive a figure adaptation. Kotobukiya had previously released figures modeled after Raye in June 2024 and Roze in August 2024.

While Raye and Roze's figures had been purchasable more widely, the upcoming Kagari figure is exclusively available on Kotobukiya Online Shop and Kaiba Corporation Store. Both web stores can only formally ship the figures domestically inside Japan.

There have been many figures and model kits based on Yu-Gi-Oh monster cards revealed in 2024 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the trading card game that Konami launched in 1999. Prior examples include I:P Masquerena, Winged Dragon of Ra, and Flame Wingman.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Sky Striker Ace - Kagari figure will be available in June 2025.

Monster Hunter Keycaps Highlight Different Kinds of Meat

Capcom announced that it will sell Monster Hunter figures that can be displayed on a desktop or used as a keycap on a keyboard and look like different types of meat found in the game. The full set consists of six varieties. The box of six is being sold on storefronts like AmiAmi for ¥5,540 (~$35.97). These will launch in May 2025 in Japan.

Each figure features a kind of meat on a weathered bone attached to a black keycap that has the Monster Hunter logo on it in gold. Every one of the meat colors is a solid one and is designed to look like the item in-game, rather than the icon. The example photo of it on a keyboard shows it being used as the Esc key. It also notes that mechanical keyboards need to have a "+" shape for it to be used.

Here is the full list of varieties found in the set:

  • Burnt Meat
  • Drugged Meat
  • Poisoned Meat
  • Raw Meat
  • Tinged Meat
  • Well-done Steak

And here is how all of the Monster Hunter desktop figure meat keycaps look:

The next game in the series is Monster Hunter Wilds, and it will launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 28, 2025. These Monster Hunter desktop figure keycaps will launch in May 2025.

Akatsuki Games announced pre-registration is open for Tribe Nine, and to celebrate the ability to sign up we all get a Koishi Kohinata character skin. We can pre-register on both the App Store and Google Play pages, which are live now. The Steam page is also live, but you can only add it to a wishlist there and not pre-register.

There are no pre-registration goals that need to be met to get the Tribe Nine rewards. Everyone is already guaranteed them. This means we all get a Parallel Cypher / Y skin for the character Koishi Kohinata. Free items and currency will also be doled out to everyone when we start playing.

Here's the full list of what we'll get when we log in for the first time:

  • 1 Parallel Cypher / Y skin for Koishi Kohinata
  • 3 Accurate Codes
  • 3 Energy Drinks
  • 5 Life Datas
  • 150 Enigmatic Remnants
  • 600 Enigma Entity currency
  • 5,000 Kane
  • 5,000 T Points

Also, here's how the skin looks on the character:

While there's no release date for Tribe Nine yet, we've seen a lot of progress come in 2024. For example, a closed beta appeared earlier this year. This offered our first chance to play the game and see how it works. This will be an action-RPG with baseball elements and an art direction reminiscent of Danganronpa.

Tribe Nine will appear on PCs and mobile devices, and pre-registration is now open ahead of its eventual release.

You Can Buy Dino Crisis and Resident Evil on PS4 and PS5

It is now possible to buy digital copies of two classic Capcom PS1 games for more modern platforms. We can now buy Dino Crisis and Resident Evil Director's Cut to play on the PS4 and PS5 on the PlayStation Store. Each one costs $9.99.

Prior to this update, we could actually play Dino Crisis and Resident Evil Director's Cut on the PS4 and PS5. However, there was a limitation to it. Both were added to the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog of games earlier in 2024. However, those required the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. Premium is $17.99 per month, or $159.99 per year.

This new change omits the PlayStation Plus requirement. If bought for $9.99, then someone permanently has access to Dino Crisis or Resident Evil Director's Cut on both their PS4 and PS5. There is no need to make separate purchases per console. Just adding it to your library makes it available on both platforms.

Attention ended up being called to Dino Crisis again back when Capcom released Exoprimal. This was due to it also featuring dinosaurs as an opponent. However, we didn't see that game cross over into the new one.

Both Dino Crisis and Resident Evil Director's Cut are now available both via the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog or as separate digital purchases on the PlayStation Store.

The stage will have the Japanese subtitle Mugen no Utaibito, which can be roughly translated to "The Singer of Fantasy." The stage will have four scenarios in total, but two of them will appear separately on the two timeframes. Kadokawa will hold the first session at 2 PM JST and the second at 5:30 PM JST. It will star four voice actors: Emiri Kato, Yu Asakawa, Kengo Kawanishi, and Arthur Lounsbery.

To attend the show, people must first purchase a ticket priced at 8,800 yen (~$57.25). The venue will also have a merchandise booth selling items related to the featured scenarios.

This will not be the first time Kadokawa has worked with Square Enix to hold a Final Fantasy XI recitation event. The companies have previously held another recitation event in February 2024 with the subtitle Ibun no Utaibito ("The Singer of Strange Tales").

The Final Fantasy XI: Mugen no Utaibito recitation stage will take place at the Yokohama City Education Center Hall on March 1, 2025. The show will be based on the MMORPG that is still available on PCs and has continued receiving updates as recently as September 2024.

Netease Takes Over Octopath Traveler Mobile Game From Square Enix

Square Enix announced that NetEase is about to take over Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, its mobile game based on HD-2D series. The turnover will happen on January 16, 2025, and it seems those of us who are playing will be able to continue to do so without interruption.

The official announcement appeared on social media and in-game, with Producers Hirohito Suzuki and Takahiro Inoue discussing what will happen with the Square Enix Octopath Traveler mobile game after the handover. Apparently, this transition means NetEase will continue to develop new content for the game. It will also maintain existing elements. So if someone plays, their save can still be used. However, this will mean someone will have to perform a data transfer. That process is discussed in the in-game notice.

Here is the full statement about NetEase taking over Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.

"First, we'd like to thank all the players of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.

As of Thursday, January 16, 2025, service operations for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent will be transferred to NetEase Interactive Entertainment.

With the 2.5-year anniversary approaching in January 2025, we decided that the best way to continue to provide quality content for everyone was to work in collaboration with NetEase.

As for additional main story content and such for which we've received many requests, everything is planned for release after operations have been transferred to NetEase.

Players will of course be able to transfer their game data and continue their adventures. Please see the in-game notices for more information regarding the data transfer process.

We are sincerely grateful for all the support we have received for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. We hope you look forward to future developments that we will continue to offer with our partner, NetEase."

The Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile game is available on Android and Apple iOS devices worldwide. There is also a manga based on it available in Japan.

Lan Yan Will Also Join Genshin Impact in 5.3

HoYoVerse revealed another 5.3 Genshin Impact character, and this time it is Lan Yan from the Liyue region. She's the first character not to be from the Natlan area to join the game since the 5.0 series of updates appeared.

Lan Yan is one of those characters we haven't really heard much about ahead of her being confirmed as a new addition to the cast. We know she's from Liyue. She's also going to be an Anemo character. We don't know if she will be a four-star or five-star. However, we do know she's called Spring Woven From Jade, her Constellation is Hirundo Lazuli, and she's part of the Artisans Association due to her rattan basket weaving. She's also more skilled than she appears, with Gaming specifically citing her skill.

Here's the comment about her from fellow Liyue character Gaming from social media:

https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1861258578801369317?t=hdt3ZGCB7IvnT5j7gWauWg&s=19

The other bit of background about Lan Yan brings up how people from Chenyu Vale constantly come to her for help and repairs. It also brings up how much she loves exploring.

https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1861258583561904634

Lan Yan is the third Genshin Impact character to be teased for the 5.3 update. The other two are Mavuika and Citlali. Both of them played major parts in the Natlan storyline. In fact, in case you haven't been keeping up, Mavuika is the Pyro Archon who lives in the region. The other revealed archons we met were Venti in Mondstadt, Zhongli in Liyue, Raiden Shogun in Inazuma, Nahida in Sumeru, and Furina in Fontaine.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices, and it looks like Lan Yan will be a playable character in 5.3.
