Kotaku Friday, December 13, 2024 3:35 PM I love The Last of Us and Uncharted, but I would also be content to never see another game in those series again. PCGamesN Friday, December 13, 2024 4:09 PM When is The Outer Worlds 2 release date? It's been a while since Obsidian Entertainment's first space venture, but it had much of the same DNA as the Fallout series. This isn't necessarily surprising, given that Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, the creators of the Fallout series, were the game's directors. Now, we're finally getting the chance to head back to Halcyon in The Outer Worlds 2. The first in Obsidian's space adventure series was an enjoyable RPG game, perhaps hampered by the studio's upcoming Microsoft acquisition. The Outer Worlds 2 was confirmed to be in active development in June 2021, but there has been radio silence ever since. We consider this as a good thing, as a release date window has now dropped, and it's soon. Here's what we know about the window for a The Outer Worlds 2 release date and what we can speculate about the upcoming space game sequel. PCGamesN Friday, December 13, 2024 2:39 PM When is The Witcher 4 release date? CD Projekt RED initially confirmed the existence of a new game in The Witcher series via a press release in March 2022 and a title update in October 2022. Following a long wait, one that felt like eternity for fans of the series, The Witcher 4 was officially revealed at The Game Awards in December 2024, alongside its first trailer. We know that the upcoming open-world game is the first installment in a new trilogy, and sees Ciri take on the role of the protagonist. While we previously thought this new entry to the series won't be called The Witcher 4, that seems to be its title now, in a pivot by CDPR. PCGamesN Friday, December 13, 2024 4:20 PM When is the Crimson Desert release date? First announced in 2019, Crimson Desert is a story-driven adventure from the team behind the Black Desert MMORPG. Four years since its initial reveal, there's still a significant wait ahead for the Crimson Desert release date following an indefinite delay in July 2021. The devs cited the "need to dedicate more time to added new ideas for an even deeper, more enriching game." We now know that the enrichment process includes petting dogs, carrying sheep on your shoulders, and fighting giant crabs in the magical action-adventure game. I mean, what more could you ask for? Based on the gameplay footage of Crimson Desert so far, it does seem as though nature and animals play a massive part in the world of Pywel. The region looks at first glance like an ancient medieval continent, but it soon becomes apparent that it's filled with magic and mystery. Here's everything we know about Pywel and the Crimson Desert release date so far. Dolly Mix and Sanrio are having a collaboration for the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty. Little figurines of Hello Kitty and her friends in dessert-inspired outfits will appear in gacha machines in mid-December 2024, and they'll cost 400 JPY ($2.60) per attempt. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
There are four variations of figurines to collect. All of them stand at approximately 40 millimeters tall, though they look like they're sitting down. As mentioned earlier, the outfits look dessert-themed, as they all have strawberries in their bows. Each figurine also has either a star or a heart design in their eyes, adding to the overall cuteness. The characters you can get are Hello Kitty, Mimmy, Dear Daniel, and Tiny Chum.
Here are more pictures of the Dolly Mix and Hello Kitty figurines:
For the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty, many companies have collaborated with Sanrio to release exclusive merchandise. Takara Tomy, for example, released a special version of its Licca-chan doll. Meanwhile, Build-a-Bear added a special 50th anniversary Hello Kitty doll to its online storefront back in August 2024. Sanrio itself has released multiple pieces of goods as well, including special anniversary coins and a snow globe.

During the CEDEC + KYUSHU 2024 conference, Persona series creative producer Kazuhisa Wada explained the reasons behind choosing a male protagonist for the Persona series, as well as why the cast is mostly students. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
During the Q&A section of a talk focused on the past and present of the Persona series, Wada was asked how much freedom he has during the planning stage regarding the main protagonist in each Persona game, as well as what was the reason for deciding to make a cast of mainly students and a male character for the protagonist for the latest entries in the series.
In response, Wada said that games in the Persona series are coming-of-age stories focused on growing up, and the most effective setting for those kinds of stories are of students on the verge of entering adulthood. Wada added that student life is an almost universal common experience and people can easily identify themselves with it.
As for the gender of the protagonist, Wada said that the choice is related to maturity and mental age. For high school students of similar ages, it seems like female students tend to have a higher mental age than male students, Wada continued. To better depict the themes of growth, the developers decided that a male student as the protagonist would fit better. However, Wada insisted that the team doesn't think that adults or women as protagonists aren't a possibility to consider.
The CEDEC + KYUSHU 2024 conference was held on November 23, 2024 and new information about some of the talks by the attending game developers have started to come out. In past years of the event, there have been talks offering details about how character lighting is handled in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 or details about Dark Souls boss arenas.

In an interview with Famitsu, Yosuke Futami (the producer for Synduality: Echo of Ada) discussed why the game has a single-player mode. To summarize his answer, it's to prevent the game from being unplayable in the future should the servers go offline. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
As you progress through the game, you'll unlock a mission to investigate old Amasia in your Cradlecoffin (or Coffin, for short). What you do in this quest doesn't really have any influence on the main online file, and it's more for the story. This means that while you won't really receive any rewards for playing it, you won't lose any items either. As a note, while the mission to investigate old Amasia is a single-player mission, you'll still need to play online to get through the tutorials and such.
During the interview, Famitsu asked Futami about why Synduality: Echo of Ada is mostly online, and yet Game Studio still implemented the single-player mission. Futami replied that he didn't want the game to become unplayable should something happen in the future and you can no longer access the online servers. He doesn't mean this in a negative or pessimistic way. This is simply something to assure players that even if the game goes offline in the future, they'll still be able to play Synduality: Echo of Ada.
Physical versions of Synduality: Echo of Ada will come out on January 16, 2025. The digital version will come out on January 23, 2025. It'll be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, the first manga adaptation of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is available to read on Comic Walker. The first chapter is 42 pages long, and the next chapter will come out on January 10, 2025.
The plot of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness takes place before the anime, focusing on Pilar and Rebecca. In the first chapter, we see how they developed an "every man for himself" type of mentality following a conversation with their father. This is the way to survive in Night City. However, despite that education and her brother stopping her, Rebecca still goes out of her way to help someone. The chapter then ends with the two of them firing up their resolve to become edgerunners.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an ONA based on Cyberpunk 2077, with Trigger the studio in charge of the animation. It first appeared on Netflix in 2022, and is itself a prequel to Cyberpunk 2077. The show follows David Martinez, a street kid who becomes a mercenary, or an edgerunner, after losing everything to a drive-by shooting. It received high praise from fans and critics alike when it came out. While Edgerunners itself is standalone, Netflix teased another show set in the same universe back in September 2024. More information on that should come out further along in the production process.

MegaHouse shared new photos and a release window for its next Portrait of Pirates One Piece Evolutionary History figure of Nami, which is based on her Egghead Island arc appearance. It will debut in Japan in July 2025. As MegaHouse items end up appearing worldwide, we're already seeing Big Bad Toy Store also sharing a listing for it with an October 2025 launch window.
As this is a 25cm tall (9.8in) figure, this is one of the more expensive versions of Nami. She costs ¥19,800 (~$129) in Japan. Big Bad Toy Store's listing has a $189.99 price tag. It is a static figure with no additional face plates or accessories. Nami wears her new outfit from the latest arc, as well as wields a gun.
Here are some of the first photos of the figure, which highlight its design from different angles:
This is the first in a new Portrait of Pirates Evolutionary History line of figures. We don't know what the criteria for characters in this line will be or if it will specifically focus on appearances at certain points in the series.
When new One Piece episodes appear, they will sound a bit different. At the beginning of December 2024, we learned Kazuki would be retiring from the role of Franky. We'll learn who will replace the Straw Hat member at Jump Festa 2025.
The Portrait of Pirates Evolutionary History One Piece Nami figure will debut in July 2025 in Japan. Viz Media handles the manga outside Japan. You can find the anime streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The live-action adaptation is only on Netflix.
