LG's new 45-inch OLED gaming monitor has a 5K resolution and it bends

A trio of new LG OLED gaming monitors is set to be announced next week at the CES 2025 trade show, and not only are all of them larger than 39-inch from corner to corner, but one can even bend from flat to a 900mm (900R) radius curve. The Ultragear GX9 45GX990A is the model in question and its 5K resolution will also provide a huge desktop area to match its massive 45-inch screen size.

The three new panels look to be giving LG plenty of firepower to fight for places on our best gaming monitor guide this year, with the company clearly keen to push the limits of screen size, resolution, and shape. The other panels being announced both have a fixed 800R curved, with the the UltraGear 45GX950A also boasting a 45-inch panel and the LG UltraGear 39GX90SA dropping to 39-inches.

Mid-range AMD Radeon RX 9000 gaming GPUs here by March, says leak

AMD could be set to make available its mid-range AMD RX 9000 graphics cards as early as March, according to a new rumor. Historically, gaming GPU manufacturers have tended to launch flagship high-end cards for each new generation first, before launching new mid-range cards several months later, so this quick turnaround from AMD would make for a change from the norm.

Part of the reason for this could be that AMD has long been expected not  to compete with Nvidia at the high-end of the market, with the RX 9070 XT expected to be the company's flagship next-gen card with specs fast enough to only compete with the RTX 5070 rather than the RTX 5090. That means AMD will be highly reliant on grabbing as much of the mid-range GPU market as possible, so the sooner it can launch its more affordable cards, the higher its chances of enticing buyers.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 system requirements

What are the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 system requirements? This anticipated heavy-hitting medieval RPG sequel is set to run well on older gaming PCs and laptops, with reasonable minimum specs at the lower end of the spectrum. Gamers with newer rigs, meanwhile, won't struggle to max out those frame rates, especially if they've got an Nvidia RTX 40-series GPU installed.

To play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 when it releases on February 4, 2025, you're not going to need the most powerful PC out there, unless you're playing on the highest Ultra graphics preset using the high resolution presets. If that's the case, you'll need one of the best graphics card models you can buy to run the game at 1,440p or 4K resolution. For basic 1,080p gaming at 30fps, however, an older card like the GTX 1060 will do the job.

I come and go with the work of Ken Levine, celebrated auteurman and reported burnout-inducing manager, but I'm interested to see more of Judas, his current project at Ghost Story Games. The concept for Judas is that you're trapped in a computer-run society housed aboard a colony ship, the Mayflower. The titular Judas has managed to break free of the AI-groomed status quo, and is out to start a revolution. "Bioshock Infinite in space", we called it, back in 2022, but Levine says it's more open-ended than either of his Bioshock endeavours, with a greater emphasis on other characters remembering and responding to your actions over time.

I think the last time I read an actual, original Garfield comic was in 1998. Since then, my experience of the character has been one long litany of Gar-memes and in particular, Gorefield memes. For those blissfully unaware, Gorefield is a version of Jim Davis's otiose, lasagne-loving housecat who has broken his comic strip shackles and become a cosmic abomination. Gorefield's manifestations are many: centipede Gorefields, arachnid Gorefields, Gorefields that extend serpentine necks of unfleshed bone towards a cowering Jon Arbuckle, demanding to be fed in a voice that sounds nothing like Bill Murray, a voice as deep and velvety as the eternal Monday before the Big Bang.

In Gar-Type, a free Gorefield fangame from Youtuber and pixel artist LumpyTouch, Garfield has become a planet. The good news is that, unlike many other Gore-variants, this Gorefield is vulnerable to bullets. It falls to ace pilot Jon Starbuckle and his prototype starfighter, Gar-Type D, to save the Earth from lasagnnihilation.

Indiana Jones is a man with hands. Deny this at your own peril. 'Write what you know' they say. Indiana Jones And The Great Circle's writers knew about having hands. They'd picked up a thing or two. Turned the odd key. Raised the occasional entire lemon to their lips and devoured it whole. Clicked a camera button. Placed an object upon a table. They had touched things, and beyond this, they had felt them. They knew that the player could never truly be Indiana Jones, but they could be allowed to make a pretend man who sounded at least 83% like Indiana Jones do things with his hands that very much resemble the sort of things Indiana Jones might do.

Brendan Greene, the modder-turned-millionaire who designed battle royale game PUBG: Battlegrounds, wants to make his studio's next game a "metaverse", although he says he's wary of using the term. The project is called "Artemis" (at least for now) and you won't be seeing it any time soon. That's because the studio is still working on the tech behind it all, and plans to release two other games before it. Meaning it'll be 10-15 years before it actually comes out.

Greene describes Artemis as an internet-like platform where users create and share things, but doesn't say specifically what those things might be. He doesn't know how his user-led "multiverse of worlds" will be moderated, or how it will prevent copyright infringement, or what makes this idea distinct from, say, Roblox. He is nonetheless "full of confidence".

January PlayStation Plus Games

Sony revealed the first PlayStation Plus monthly games for 2025 with the January selection, and the lineup includes the live-service Suicide Squad title. The new trio of games will be available for all subscribers from January 7, 2025.

The three games available for PlayStation Plus in January 2025 will be led by Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This is Rocksteady's experiment with creating a live service game, as Harley Quinn and associates set out to take down various members of the Justice League. Just be aware when you jump into this one that development on the game will officially end on January 14, 2025 and no further updates will be added. This game is exclusively available for subscribers on PS5.

Meanwhile, the other two January 2025 PlayStation Plus games include Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is the 2010 edition of EA's long-running street racing series. The version for PS Plus will be the PS4 remaster released for the game's tenth anniversary.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is famously bizarre metanarrative indie game where you play as an office worker named Stanley trying to defy an omnipresent narrator. Ultra Deluxe features a ton of additional content not seen in the original game. It's available for both PS4 and PS5.

December's selection of PlayStation Plus games are currently still available. These included It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent and Temtem. They will be available until the release of the January selection of games.

The January 2025 PlayStation Plus monthly games will be available from January 7, 2025.

Neither one is available to order yet. The last update on them appeared back in September 2024. Only unpainted prototypes of the two showed up. However, the company did confirm that their poses match and they are designed to be displayed together.

Here's how those will look:

There's no release date for the Kotobukiya figure of Yakuza: Like a Dragon hero Ichiban Kasuga. Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth are both on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

hatsune miku project diva megamix controller

Hori will re-release the Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix Switch and PC controller in March 2025. While it is designed for the Switch and Steam versions of the game, there will be an option to swap the buttons to show PlayStation controls.

While supplies last, four △◯✕□ buttons will come with the controller. This is for people who're used to playing with a PlayStation controller or who just prefer this aesthetic over the XYBA buttons. The buttons and sliders glow when you use them, and they're the same size as the panels on the Future Tone arcade machines. So you can feel like you're playing the game at an arcade while remaining at home.

Unlike the Future Tone DX controller Hori released for the PS4, this Switch/PC controller does not have a "Normal Mode" to switch to. This means that you can literally only use it for Project Diva Mega Mix. As well, it's not a wireless controller. To use it, you must plug in the USB cord.

Pre-orders for the Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix controller re-release opened on January 1, 2025. It costs 38,478 JPY ($245.90). You can put in your pre-order via the Hori website. However, Hori does not offer international shipping. The game is also a separate purchase.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mega Mix is available on the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam.

fate/grand order year 11

In an interview between Famitsu and Takashi Takeuchi, who is a designer, illustrator, and producer for Type-Moon, he stated that Fate/Grand Order would go on past Year 11. He also stated that Part II, which is Cosmos in the Lostbelt and Ordeal Call, will end soon, though there's no concrete date for that yet. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

This information comes at the end of the interview with Takeuchi. He stated that unlike most live-service games, the development team's focus was on finishing the story rather than making the game last for X amount of years. So it feels like ten years ended up passing, rather than them planning on the game lasting this long. He wants to come up with a special and memorable event, both in real life and in the game, to thank fans for their years of support. This event will also hype up the final chapter of Part II, so he considers it his greatest challenge yet.

When the Famitsu interviewer asked if Fate/Grand Order would see a Year 11, Takeuchi said, "Of course it will." However, the timing of when that happens will also depend on the players. So far, we know that Ordeal Call IV will come out in Spring 2025 on the Japanese server. It's unknown if the chapter after that will usher in the end of Part II. Takeuchi also didn't say whether the story will continue into Part III.

Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices. The Japanese server featured debuted Richard I the Lionheart (Saber) as its New Year Servant.

richard fate/grand order

Richard I the Lionheart from Fate/Strange Fake, the new anime, is the 2025 New Year's Servant on the Japanese server of Fate/Grand Order (FGO). He is a five-star Saber unit.

You can see an animation of him at the end of this commercial released in Japan.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dphoRPgBsTI

Unlike the GSSR Servants, you don't need to use paid Saint Quartz to pull for him. People who don't read Fate/strange Fake don't need to worry about spoilers when raising him, either. Ryogo Narita, the author for Fate/strange Fake, said on X (formerly Twitter) that both his third ascension and his Noble Phantasm were created specifically for his appearance in Fate/Grand Order.

Yuki Ono reprised his role as Richard for Fate/Grand Order. Ono's previous roles include Kagami in Kuroko's Basketball, Gran in Granblue Fantasy, and Josuke in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable. In the game, Richard's Active Skills focus on buffing himself and the party, as well as charging his own NP and increasing the performance of his Buster cards. His Noble Phantasm, Utopia Purgatoire, deals Buster damage to all enemies after increasing his critical damage. He can also inflict Burn for 5 turns to all enemies.

Fate/Grand Order is available on mobile devices, and Richard I the Lionheart from Fate/Strange Fake is only on the Japanese FGO server. As a limited New Year's Servant, he will not be in the normal gacha pool after his banner ends on January 15, 2025. Fate/Strange Fake is available to watch on Crunchyroll.

Aerith and Tifa Wear Kimono in FFVII Ever Crisis New Year's Update

The FFVII Ever Crisis New Year's event for 2025 kicked off, and it involves a new take on an old boss and weapons and kimono gear for Aerith and Tifa. Both characters' new equipment appear on the same banner alongside Tifa's Premium Heart Ultimate weapon, making it easier to possibly get one or the other. That will be available in-game until January 22, 2025.

Tifa gets the Blue Daffodil Gloves weapon and Blue Daffodil Attire kimono in FFVII Ever Crisis. The weapon has the C Ability Blue Florescent Flurry. That deals non-elemental physical damage to one enemy and is the first weapon in-game to include the Weakness Exploitation buff. Her new gear has the New Year's Mastery and Reprieve R Abilities. The former increases all elemental ability damage, while Reprieve revives her if she falls in battle.

Here's the official trailer for it, which also features a look at the C Ability.

Aerith, meanwhile, now can equip the Crimson Staff and Festive Crimson Attire kimono in FFVII Ever Crisis. Its C Ability is Crimson Florescence. That deals non-elemental magic damage to all enemies, increases her MATK, and decreases enemies' MDEF if her health is over 70%. Her gear has the Reprieve R Ability, just like Tifa's. It also has New Year's Protection, which increases her HP by 10% and Healing Potency by 20%.

This is the trailer for the Crimson Staff and Festive Crimson Attire.

https://twitter.com/FFVII_EC_EN/status/1874040552561209576

There is a Limit Break Step Up Draw promotion in effect for this banner. Steps one, four, and six involve free 10 draws with one or more guaranteed four-star weapons. Steps three and five guarantee at least one five-star. Step seven lets you choose  either Tifa's Blue Daffodil Gloves or Aerith's Crimson Staff. There can be two loops of this, to allow you to get both weapons.

There's also a general trailer for the FFVII Ever Crisis 2025 New Year's event that shows what to expect from Happy New Year: Massive Mochi Mayhem. That started on December 31, 2024. The themed boss this time is the Mochi Scorpion, which is based on the Scorpion Sentinel from the original Final Fantasy VII storyline. People can earn a Chocobo Paddle sword for Cloud by going through it.

Both it and 7.3 are teased for this year, and there's also art of him with the Great Serpent of Ronka and a poem. The Great Serpent of Ronka appears since 2025 is the year of the snake.

Yoshida began by bringing up that 2025 marks his fifteenth year of working on FFXIV. As part of that, he noted, "We naturally tend to value anniversaries in fives, like the fifth or the tenth, but now half of my career as a game developer has been happily devoted to Final Fantasy XIV." He also mentioned that the Community team for the MMORPG at Square Enix is working on the next Fan Fest following the one in Korea between October 12-13, 2024.

He teased "twists" and foreshadowing in them. This could be a hint that we'll see where things might go in the next expansion later this year. He also more specifically said, "The Development team is deep into work on Patch 7.2, and in February I'll start my own checks on implementation. Our jam-packed schedule is set to bring you a jam-packed patch, so look forward to loads of new content. Kicking off with the release of Patch 7.2, we hope to bring you a year full of fun and surprises, both in game and out."

The poem shared for the year is:

"Never Stop. Never turn back.

He who stops will ne'er endure.

He who turns will ne'er be more."

Finally, here's the 2025 Final Fantasy XIV New Year's art that shows a character who looks like Naoki Yoshida, the Great Serpent of Ronka, the FFXIV Dawntrail Pictomancer Krile, and other mascots like a Moogle and Chocobo riding on the snake.

colorful stage fire dance deco*27 giga

The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Colorful Stage The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing uploaded a sample of "Fire Dance", which will be an original song for the film. It features Deco*27 as the composer and lyricist, Giga as the music arranger, and Vivid BAD SQUAD as the singing band.

You can listen to the first seventeen seconds of "Fire Dance" via the Colorful Stage movie account:

https://twitter.com/pjsekai_movie/status/1874651830170595742

Deco*27 and Giga are both some of the more popular and influential Vocaloid producers, as they've been active for a long time. Many of Deco*27's songs rack up views on YouTube or NicoNico due to their catchy tunes and music videos, as well as their appearances in games like Project Diva. Some songs from his sixteen-years-long career include "Vampire", "Volt Tackle", and "Yowamushi Montblanc".

As for Giga, he started uploading songs in early 2010. His songs tend to be techno, pop, or a combination of the two genres. Some examples of his compositions include "Odo" (originally for Ado), "Wonky Monkey" (for Inugami Korone), and "+♂" (Plus Boy).

Sega first announced Colorful Stage The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing in July 2024. This is a film adaptation of Colorful Stage, or Project Sekai, rather than a movie fully about the Vocaloids. While they will make an appearance, the movie will focus more on the original cast of characters from the mobile game. You can watch the trailer for the film here:

Colorful Stage The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing will appear in Japanese theaters from January 17, 2025.

honkai star rail 3.0 banners

HoYoVerse detailed the new characters who'll appear in the Honkai: Star Rail banners for 3.0, and they are The Herta and Aglaea. Remembrance Trailblazer will debut too. When logging in after the new patch drops, players can also claim an outfit for the Preservation version of March 7th. You will have until February 26, 2025 to receive it.

During the first phase of Version 3.0, you'll be able to pull for The Herta, Lingsha, Feixiao, and Jade. The Herta is a 5-star Ice Erudition character whose kit revolves around AoE DMG. She can apply Interpretation stacks onto the enemy, and allies can add to these stacks. The more Interpretation stacks an enemy has, the more damage. The Herta can deal. Her Ultimate can also transfer Interpretation stacks to powerful enemies before dealing Ice DMG to all targets.

As for Aglaea, she is the first limited Remembrance character in the game, and will be a 5-star Lightning unit. In the story, she has the divine authority of "Romance" and is one of the earliest Chrysos Heirs. Now, she's a dressmaster in Okhema. Aglaea can summon the Garmentmaker to fight alongside her in battle. She can increase the Garmentmaker's SPD, though more details will have to wait closer to her debut during the second half of Version 3.0. Characters having re-runs alongside her are Boothill, Robin, and Silver Wolf.

Finally, the Remembrance Trailblazer will also fight with summons. They can call upon new companion Mem in battle. Mem will charge energy, and once they have enough, they can use it on an ally to let them immediately take action and deal additional True DMG. More information on True DMG will also appear later.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Version 3.0 of Honkai: Star Rail will come out on January 15, 2025.

honkai star rail 3.0 release date

The Version 3.0 of Honkai: Star Rail "Paean of Era Nova" will mark the Astral Express's first adventure in the new world of Amphoreus, and we now know its release date. This major patch will go live on January 15, 2025.

The Amphoreus Trailblaze Mission will last across eight versions (3.0 to 3.7) and will have two parts to it. Version 3.0 will also introduce three new characters: Aglaea, The Herta, and the Remembrance version of the Trailblazer. While Remembrance Trailblazer will be a free unit you can obtain through the story, Aglaea and The Herta will both appear in the gacha as limited-time characters.

Amphoreus draws inspiration from Greek mythology, and the residents of that world worship the Titans rather than the Aeons. A civil war among these Titans, followed by a mysterious "black tide", caused the strife and conflict throughout both Amphoreus and the gods, and the Holy City of Okhema is the final sanctuary for humanity there. Much of the story and characters in Amphoreus combine Greek legends with the Flame-Chasers from Honkai Impact 3rd, with the Astral Express working with the Chrysos Heirs to save Amphoreus from the encroaching darkness.

As HoYoVerse teased near the end of 2024, it's released an image song for Honkai: Star Rail 3.0. "Nameless Faces" is available in both English and Chinese. You can listen to the English version (sang by Lilas Ikuta of Yoasobi) here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqKwoSk6708

Here is the Chinese version (sang by Tan Jing):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdAVG8dE5qc

Honkai: Star Rail is available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The Version 3.0 release date for Honkai: Star Rail is January 15, 2025.
