PCGamesN Thursday, January 16, 2025 11:58 AM Nvidia has released what could be seen as a surprising statistic as it gears up for its GeForce RTX 5000-series launch. The company has claimed that more than 80% of RTX graphics card owners use Nvidia DLSS when playing games. DLSS is Nvidia's standout software, exclusive to its RTX best graphics card options. It's a technology that has impressed with its ability to increase frame rates through the use of AI upscaling and frame generation but it has also had its detractors. As such, a claim that so many RTX card owners do use the tech would seem to justify the company's big push towards AI-enhanced game rendering techniques. However, the devil could be in the details of this claim. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: GeForce RTX 4070 Super review, DLSS explained, Best graphics cards |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 16, 2025 5:30 PM Like many JRPG series, it feels as if the Tales Of series has made strides in popularity in recent years. Both 2016's Tales Of Berseria and 2021's Tales Of Arise had charming worlds and flashy combat, and the latter has found a home on our picks for the best of the genre. Now the series is adopting the other dominant JRPG trend of late: remakes and remasters. Tales Of Graces f Remastered, a revision of the 2009 entry in the series, is out now. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 16, 2025 1:50 PM Blade Chimera is a cyberpunk metroidvania from Team Ladybug, the team behind the really very good Touhou Luna Nights and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. As with Deedlit - one of our favourite 'vanias - I'm drawn to it partly for the opulent real-time RPG combat, and partly because, to be very superficial, the protagonist is taller than I'm used to in games like this. Sometimes he feels too tall for the levels. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 16, 2025 12:33 PM Following the Republican victory in the US 2024 elections, several US companies have experimented with "pivoting away" from Diversity, Ethics and Inclusion, a collection of employment practices aimed at challenging bias and prejudice in the workplace. Facebook owners Meta, Amazon, Walmart, McDonalds and others are reportedly scaling back their DEI initiatives to stave off backlash or litigation from conservative pundits and politicians, who regard DEI guidance about discrimination as a form of discrimination in itself. Following the election, I've also noticed a couple of video game company executives express misgivings about DEI - misgivings that, amongst other things, illustrate that "DEI" has come to mean a lot more than just annual training about micro-aggressions. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 16, 2025 11:50 AM Killer strategy boardgame Root's new Steam expansion has made me aware that Root exists as a PC game I have an on-and-off-again relationship with boardgaming based mostly on the fact that I have nobody to play boardgames with. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, January 16, 2025 11:48 AM I've been on a journey. About an hour into Minishoot' Adventures, I was ready to call this straightforward mix of 2D shmup and 2D Zelda mediocre. My mind had been changed long before I beat the final boss, by which point I thought it was good, but I still felt that all the people praising it at the end of 2024 were singing so loudly only because it was good and short and obscure, three things which in combination are easily mistaken for greatness. Then I pushed past that final boss, mopping up the remainder of the map, and in that last 25% I think I fell in love. Minishoot' Adventures is straightforward in concept, but its execution is a masterclass of craftsmanship. |

The Tales series will appear in Last Cloudia once again as part of a collaboration event in the mobile game. It'll take place on January 23, 2025, and it'll introduce a new unit.
There's virtually no information on the Tales collaboration in Last Cloudia right now. However, considering Tales of Graces f Remastered's upcoming release, the new unit will likely be one of the main characters from that game. If it implements a Graces character, then it would fall between Asbel, Richard, or Sophie, who are the more iconic main characters from it.
The last time there was a Tales and Last Cloudia crossover event in the mobile game was in 2022. At the time, it featured Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia. Other Tales games who appeared include Luke and Stan. In particular, Stan is on the key visual announcing this 2025 Tales crossover, so he'll likely reappear in the story and gacha.
Tales of Graces f Remastered is the enhanced port of the original Tales of Graces f game from 2010, which was also an enhanced port of Tales of Graces from 2009. It follows Asbel Lhant, the son of a lord, who meets a mysterious amnesiac girl named Sophie in a flower meadow. After a traumatizing event in his childhood, he leaves home to become a knight, which is where the main arc of the story begins.
Last Cloudia is available on mobile devices and Windows PC via Steam. The Tales collaboration event will start from January 23, 2025.

Shueisha announced we will be able to read the Metaphor: ReFantazio manga in English via MangaPlus. The series, which will also appear in V-Jump in Japan, will begin running in English on January 1, 2025.
The company shared the announcement on social media. In the reveal, it noted that chapters of the Metaphor: ReFantazio manga will release simultaneously worldwide. The image included also showed how the main character and Gallica will look in this adaptation.
When the run was first announced, we also got some details about what the first chapter will entail. It will be longer than usual and come in at 58 pages. It will also be in color, though that won't be true of all episodes. On MangaPlus, typically the first three chapters and three most recent ones are all free for visitors to read, so everyone should be able to constantly have access to the first chapter of Metaphor: ReFantazio as long as Shueisha makes it available. We don't know how much of the story will be covered in this introduction, but presumably we'll see the hero and Gallica meet Strohl and perhaps Grius.
The Metaphor: ReFantazio manga English run will begin on January 21, 2025 on MangaPlus. The game is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC worldwide.

Tower Records Japan has revealed that it will produce and sell a vinyl soundtrack primarily based on Nintendo's SNES game Super Mario World. The album will be available at ¥11,550 (~$74.30) on April 30, 2025. Pre-orders for the vinyl soundtrack are immediately available on the Japanese Tower Records Online Shop.
The soundtrack will consist of three discs with content available on both sides. It will boast a large number of tracks at 179, but take note that Tower Records conflated the music tracks with sound effects to reach that number. The third disc's second side in particular has a whopping 107 sound effects that will play after the Super Mario World ending theme as its 11th track.
Super Mario World, which is also known in Japan with the additional subtitle Super Mario Bros. 4, will not be the only game to have its tracks featured in this vinyl soundtrack. Tower Records and Nintendo will also add tracks from the first three mainline Super Mario Bros. entries until Super Mario Bros. 3 to the second disc.
The Super Mario World vinyl soundtrack will be available on April 30, 2025. It will contain tracks from the Super Famicom / SNES game that appeared first in Japan in November 1990, as well as the first three Super Mario Bros. games that Nintendo released for the Famicom / NES in the late 1980s in Japan.

Hololive English Advent Vtubers Fuwawa and Mococo Abyssgard, collectively known as Fuwamoco, announced they will be holding their first 3D concert. The performance will appear online on the twins' birthday. There is no fee to attend and it is not tied to channel membership, so anyone can watch it at 7pm PT/10pm ET on February 1, 2025.
The YouTube placeholder is already live, so. people can get alerts about the performance. This will not only be the first 3D concert for Fuwawa and Mococo using those models, but also the first Fuwamoco birthday concert. At the moment, only the Atsushi Furusawa art created for the event appears if you visit the stream.
While the concert will be free for everyone, there will also be some content that is gated away. The official listing for the event noted there will be a live encore held after the event. A time wasn't set for it, but it will also air on the Fuwamoco YouTube channel after the concert for members.
There aren't too many details about the performance just yet. For example, we don't know how long it will last. We also don't know if any other Advent members or Hololive Vtubers will appear during the concert. It is also possible Cover may sell merchandise after it with the Furusawa art, as typically birthday items do appear after performers' birthday streams.
It is likely, however, that we will see the duo perform their song. Back in July 2024, they released "Born to be 'Bau'dol." That was their first and only original song so far.
The Fuwawa and Mococo Abyssgard birthday 3D concert will be held at 7pm PT/10pm ET on February 1, 2025, and the Hololive Vtubers will perform an encore for members of their channel after.

Bkub Okawa, the manga artist for most famous for his work on Pop Team Epic, shared fan art on social media of Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh in his usual style. As of the time of writing, about three days after he posted it onto Twitter, it's accumulated over 12k reposts and 65k likes. [Thanks, Oricon!]
The art shows Yugi (not Yami Yugi) looking up to the side while holding the Millennium Puzzle, which is still around his neck. He has the signature cat-like smile that characters from Pop Team Epic tend to sport. Though Okawa limited replies, a lot of people quote-retweeted the picture to give their impressions on it.
Here is the Bkub Okawa fan art of Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh drawn in the Pop Team Epic sort of style.
Some users pointed out that this is the version of Yugi from the earlier parts of the series. Back in the beginning, Yugi used a normal cord to hang the Millennium Puzzle around his neck. However, during the Battle City arc, he changed it to a silver chain. Other comments refer to him as AIBO, which is the nickname Japanese fans gave him. This is due to how "aibou" means "partner" in Japanese, and it's what Yami Yugi consistently referred to Yugi as during the series. Time will tell if Okawa plans on drawing other characters from Yu-Gi-Oh. The next piece of artwork he posted was of Okami Mio from hololive.

As part of a collaboration with One Piece, Japanese skincare brand Sekkisei will release UV protection items that feature characters from the Straw Hat Pirates on the packaging. They'll appear in Japan from February 16, 2025. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
You can get goods with Luffy, Zoro, and Chopper on them. The packaging includes the marketing line "Leave fighting the sunlight to us!" as if the Straw Hat Pirates plan on literally punching away UV rays before they can hit your skin. Luffy adorns the UV essence gel, Zoro is on the essence milk, and Chopper is on the UV softening milk. You can purchase them via the Sekkiei online shop, as well as any physical store that handles Sekkisei products.
Sekkisei is a very popular Japanese brand in Asia, and people of all ages and genders can use its products. It touts that it can give luminous and translucent skin, and is a go-to brand when it comes to brightening and whitening skin tone. You can now purchase it in countries outside of Asia. However, it's highly unlikely that Sekkisei stores in countries like the United States will carry the One Piece collaboration skincare items.
One Piece is available on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll, and Viz Media localizes the manga. Part 2 of the Egghead Arc in the anime will resume on April 6, 2025.

More Honkai: Star Rail merchandise will appear at Animate Only Shop in Japan, as well as during in the Animate Fair for Winter 2025. Both campaigns will start in early February 2025. [Thanks, Genshin Goods!]
For starters, exclusive Honkai: Star Rail merchandise will appear for a limited time at the Animate Only Shops starting on February 8, 2025. It will be sold there until March 16, 2025. The Ikebukuro and Fukuoka Parco stores campaigns will appear between February 8-24, 2025. The Sendai, Nagoya, and Nihonbashi stores will have their events from March 1-16, 2025. During this time, you can take pictures at the photo spots, as well as with the Herta dolls on display.
Merchandise available at the Only Shop include:
All of these items are ones that are available via the official miHoYo TMall store, too. However, buying them at Animate might be easier for those in Japan and tourists, considering the difficulties in importing from TMall.
Honkai: Star Rail will also appear at the Winter 2025 Animate Fair, which will run from February 8 to March 16, 2025. For every 2200 JPY you spend during this time on Honkai: Star Rail items, you'll receive a postcard containing a serial code. You can then use the serial code to exchange for in-game items. The postcards use key visuals for Version 3.0, as well as new characters like Aglaea and Phainon.
Honkai: Star Rail is available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

Square Enix opened up pre-orders for a collection of Kingdom Hearts pins that look like the stained glass displays you see in Dive to the Heart. These will come in individual blind boxes. At the moment, they're only available in the Japanese eStore.
The entire collection, which consists of 14 pins, costs 12,012 JPY. That would convert to approximately $77.20. As a disclaimer, Square Enix noted that while the box collection comes with 14 different blind boxes, it doesn't guarantee that you can collect every individual design by buying a box. This is because the manufacturers themselves likely don't know which blind box contains which badge. So you should keep that in mind before you order the entire collection. As a note, these pins do not appear on the North American version of the Square Enix store.
Each Kingdom Hearts stained glass pin has a holographic effect over the design, and it's quite large at around 75 millimeters in width. Barring King Mickey, none of them contain the stained glass panels of the Disney princesses or worlds. They all focus on characters who originated from the Kingdom Hearts series.
The stained glass designs from the Dive to the Heart are a popular motif in Kingdom Hearts merchandise. In January 2024, Bandai Spirits released a statue of a Station of Awakening from the second game. A few months later, the Square Enix store released acrylic mirrors featuring female characters from both Disney and Kingdom Hearts.
The most recent major release for Kingdom Hearts was a Steam collection that came out in May 2024. The Kingdom Hearts stained glass pins will come out on April 26, 2025.

A Danganronpa collaboration campaign will appear at Karaoke Manekineko outlets across Japan throughout Q1 2025. The karaoke outlet chain will hold the event from late January 2025 until early March 2025.
The primary highlight of the campaign will be special karaoke rooms decorated with Danganronpa series characters. These rooms will exclusively appear at two of Manekineko's outlets at Ikebukuro Sunshine in Tokyo and Nankai in Osaka.
Most of Manekineko's other outlets across Japan will also sell Danganronpa-themed merchandise and drinks for the duration of the event. However, it will only allow people who are also using the karaoke services to make the purchases.
The non-alcoholic drinks themed after mainline Danganronpa entries will be available at 660 yen per cup. However, Manekineko will not allow takeaways so customers must drink them inside the karaoke rooms. The ingredients used for each drink are as follows:
There has been an increase in Danganronpa series merchandise and collaboration as we enter 2025. The first title Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc originally appeared for the PSP in Japan on November 25, 2010, so 2025 will have the series' 15th anniversary. Earlier in January 2025, Dragonhorse revealed that it will release Fanthful-branded merchandise based on Danganronpa series characters in April 2025.
The Danganronpa collaboration campaign will run at Karaoke Manekineko outlets across Japan from January 29, 2025, until March 9, 2025.

Build-a-Bear announced Gudetama, the latest plush in the Sanrio selection, is now available both online and in retail stores. There is also a promotion that is online only. If someone buys Gudetama alone or in a bundle, you also get a 10% discount on other Sanrio stuffed animals and items.
This comes weeks after Gudetama made his online debut at the Build-a-Bear website. He first showed up there the day after Christmas 2024. At the time, you couldn't get him unstuffed, so you also had to go with a stuffed option.
The update seems to suggest both the $36 plush and the $51 bundle option might be available in actual stores. If you visit the product pages, each one notes that they are available for delivery or pickup at a "workshop." This could mean that the $15 hoodie is available on its own as well. Options to get it delivered unstuffed are also available.
As a reminder, the plush is in two parts, which is Gudetama and the egg white cushion. Remember to check that you have both if you get one at a retail store.
The Gudetama plush is now available in-stores and online at Build-a-Bear, and the 10% discount is temporarily in effect online.

Aniplex and Beard Papa's announced a promotion that allows people to buy Mashle: Magic and Muscles cream puffs in real life. Buying certain numbers of items will get you bonus merchandise based on the manga and anime. There will be certain flavors and types tied to characters from the Mashle series. It is live now as of January 15, 2025, and I expect we'll only see the bonus items while supplies last.
There are five Mashle cream puffs based on characters at Beard Papa's. When I checked the order online option, they didn't come up, so it seems you will need to visit a location to order these specialty items. Here's the full list of flavors:
And here are the official images showing how each one looks:
As for merchandise, there are three items. Two of them are only available by buying Beard Papa's cream puffs. The third is sold separately. The crossover six pack will come with an acrylic standee that shows all five characters and Beard Papa's mascot. This option is available now. If you buy the 12 piece box that will be available starting February 22, 2025, you get a tote bag with the same design as the acrylic standee.
Here's how those two items look:
There is also a $24 unisex shirt in sizes small through 5XL. That starts at $24, but can cost up to $42.50 if you go with a 5XL. It is available in navy or yellow. These can be purchased in-store or online.
Here's how those look:
The Mashle: Magic and Muscles Beard Papa's crossover is live with cream puffs based on characters and merchandise. Viz Media handles the manga outside Japan, while the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.
