How do you get the Grow a Garden Glowthorn? Raised from a seed, this unassuming (and frankly a little alienlike) lightly illuminated twig of a tree is one of the rarest crops in the game. Introduced as the signature plant of the Fairy update, the GaG Glowthorn is set to stick around for a little while, no doubt commanding high prices from the NPC and player markets alike.

Wondering how the GaG Glowthorn stacks up against limited-time crops from past Roblox events? Check out the Grow a Garden seeds tier list to get an idea of what to trade it for. How do you feed the NPC in Grow a Garden? Added in the Fairy update was the ability to open an exclusive tab in the seed shop by feeding the vendor tasty dishes over a period of time. But how you actually feed Sam, the Seed Shop NPC in Grow a Garden, isn't as simple as you might expect. Especially if you haven't played in a few weeks.

Feeding the NPC in Grow a Garden won't take much if you've been playing the Roblox hit since meals were introduced. Asus was already onto a good thing with the ROG Ally X, but the limitations of running Windows on a handheld device stopped it from achieving true perfection. With the Xbox Ally, however, that major drawback is starting to be erased. Thanks to this official partnership with Microsoft, the first ever Xbox handheld is rethinking its approach to Windows, and after getting hands-on with both the base model and the more powerful Xbox Ally X at Gamescom, I'm pleased to report that things feel slick in the UI department.

To set expectations, my time with both variations of the new Asus ROG Xbox Ally was limited - roughly 15 minutes with each device. In the case of the less powerful Xbox Ally, which was offering up large, demanding games such as Forza Horizon 5 and the new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remaster, some fairly lengthy initial loading times ate into that time too. However, I was still able to get a good feel for each device.

Mechanical Marie Succeeds Because the Manga Gets so Goofy

It's a good time to follow Yen Press manga, given how many of the recent series released in 2025 are getting anime adaptations. Lil' Miss Vampire Can't Suck Right is one. The other manga series heading to anime streaming services is Mechanical Marie. It shares something else in common with that other series I mentioned, too. It features a silly, goofy story that works out well because everyone is leaning so heavily into its absurd notion. That is, that a young woman working as a maid is a robot and not an actual human.

Editor's Note: There will be mild spoilers for the first volume of the Mechanical Marie manga below.

The concept behind Mechanical Marie essentially goes to extremes even from the outset of the manga, which I feel it needs to really sell the concept. Arthur Louis Zetes is an illegitimate son of the head of a major company known worldwide. His father picked him as the successor over his legitimate children. Because this is such a prominent role, there are constant kidnappings, death threats, assassinations, and generally terrible people surrounding him. So much so that Arthur hates human beings. But he does need help around the house, so an executive with Zetes Corporation named Mr. Roy promised him a robot maid who could act as an assistant. Except… he couldn't exactly get that done, so he hired Marie Evans, a martial arts prodigy renowned for being emotionless and expressionless to fill the role. She agreed, because her family is so poor that they need help with the debts and she'd like to be able to attend a good school.

Both characters are played to the extremes for maximum silliness. Marie is an incredibly strong heroine. She does have strong emotions, even though they don't show. She genuinely comes to appreciate, understand, and feel for what Arthur is going through. Especially as she sees the kindness she shows a "supposedly inorganic and unfeeling" being (her). As a result, she actually starts going above and beyond to protect him, assist him, and do well by him, even though she's also a bit terrified of him ever finding out she is a human woman and not a robot.

Which is another part of why this manga is so funny. Arthur is so traumatized that he has little to no patience with people. He despises those who lie to him. But he adores the opportunity to have a robot maid around. He treats her with the utmost kindness and respect. So much so that instead of having her work, initially he asks her to watch anime with him and just… be a companion. To see the drastic shift between reactions is entertaining and so goofy to watch in Mechanical Marie, but also a little sad since we also see al the examples in the manga that made this teenager this way.

But because she is maintaining this lie, there are tons of silly situations. Marie being so adept at fighting means it is both badass and hilarious when she's taking down opponents. (There's a kidnapping situation around the halfway point of the first volume involving a car that is fantastic.) But it's also great because while Marie is so nearly expressionless, as we read more we do get to see more "tells." We get to watch emotions play out across her face. We also get to see her react more as someone might "expect" a 16-year-old to. So because of the goofiness, we're seeing just as many sides of her as we are of Arthur.

The Mechanical Marie manga fully embraces the absurdity of the situation, and it makes me hope the anime will do the same. Both Marie and Arthur are fun characters who operate at opposite ends of the spectrum. The idea of someone being oblivious enough to suspect she's a robot is so goofy. But then, others also seeming to buy it is equally funny. It feels like the first volume never hesitates to go over the top.

Mechanical Marie volume 1 is available now, and Yen Press will release the second volume of the manga on February 24, 2026. The manga will debut in October 2025.

shuten order

Like Tookyo Games' The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, Shuten Order is a wild and ambitious project that knocks it out of the park with a unique, multi-genre approach and gripping mystery. It's a bombastically colorful adventure full of intrigue that's hard to put down. But, while I enjoyed Shuten Order and its innovative structure, its localization was equally novel in a bad way.

In Shuten Order, you play as Rei Shimobe. At least, that's her alias. She was the beloved founder of the Shuten Order, an organization touting apocalyptic ideology that formed its own country. But someone killed and dismembered her. Thankfully, God revived her with a side order of amnesia. If she can clear God's Trial, she can fully come back to life. If she doesn't within the time limit, she'll die for real. With the power of God and the help of her guardian angels Himeru and Mikotoru, Rei needs to figure out which Shuten Order minister killed her, get them to confess, take back her soul, and save the world.

Though I would classify Shuten Order as a visual novel, each route plays and resembles a different genre. For example, Teko's route is a multi-POV text adventure where you advance the story through the perspectives of an ensemble cast. The UI here looks like a traditional visual novel, compared to the default The World Ends With You-like layout. Manji's route, meanwhile, transforms the game into a stealth horror with an aerial view.

Despite how distinct and unique each route looks, the bright and Studio Trigger-esque art style ties them together. From a layman's eyes, the game still looks cohesive, whether you're looking at a screenshot of Honoka's route or Kishiru's. The gameplay concepts are obviously not as fleshed out as they would be in a proper dating sim and whatnot, so they can get tedious. (Especially Manji's route.) Around ten hours per route is more than enough time for you to have fun without getting too tired of each style, while still learning plenty about the world, characters, and story.

After Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, I was apprehensive about the Switch version of Shuten Order. The action and exploration segments, which I had been the most worried about, were surprisingly smooth. The loading times are still rough, though. Many times, I thought the game straight up froze on me because of how long it loaded and how awkward the scene transitions were. Sometimes I experienced audio stuttering and bizarre lag in cutscenes, but I don't know if that's just because my Switch is old.

I hate to say this, but there's one major issue with the English version of Shuten Order, and it's the localization. It needed way more time and care. Aside from objectively inaccurate translations or awkward wording, there are blatant errors like: punctuation issues, extra lines, missing spaces, line overflow, typos, inconsistencies between the text and the UI, misattribution of speaker, strings that make no sense in context, mistaken nuance, and so on. Human error is a thing, and Shuten Order isn't unique with these little oopsies. But I've never seen a game contain so many in such high concentration.

shuten order localization
To be fair, the character limit seems really low in this game. Screenshot by Siliconera

Yugen's route stood out to me. A lot of lines read like they were translated completely divorced from context, even within the same scene. Mikotoru talks about things Rei did as if he did them. Right after Yorunosuke talks about something he did, Yugen's line makes it read like he was the one who did it. The Japanese lines lack indicative pronouns, yes, but that doesn't impede understanding. All the context is in the script, which the translators can read over as they work. So, I don't understand the confusion.

I get the impression that the localization team was racing against the clock to put this together. The translation for Shuten Order feels like a rough draft with how many basic and unbelievable errors there are. It doesn't feel like anyone read over the script or even previous lines after putting down an initial translation, even though they desperately needed that second pass. Please allow time and budget for LQA of some sort!

kishiru route
Image via Spike Chunsoft

The story, characters, and gameplay of Shuten Order are genuinely enjoyable, but the translation doesn't match the game's innate quality. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying Shuten Order. It's fantastic. I hope it's as successful as Hundred Line. But I also sincerely hope that a patch comes out to fix up the English script. Blessed be the Shuten Order.

Shuten Order will come out on the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC on September 5, 2025. Nintendo Switch version reviewed. A copy of this game was provided by the publisher for review.

A screenshot of Hollow Knight: Silksong in the green/lush biome.

What's arguably this year's most anticipated title, and one just about to launch, is going to cost only $19.99. We're talking, of course, about Hollow Knight: Silksong, which, if a GameStop leak is to be believed, is going to be cheaper even than most indies and AA games.

As per a Reddit user who first spotted the seemingly accidental GameStop listing for Hollow Knight: Silksong, Team Cherry's new Metroidvania is going to cost $19.99, which is far below what most indies and AA titles are selling for nowadays. GameStop appears to have since removed the listing, which the user indicates could have been a placeholder (they even tried putting the game in their basket, but were given an error).

Given how hyped Silksong is, it's somewhat unbelievable to see it listed for such a low price. It's the most anticipated game of 2025, and is bound to sell over 10 million copies total, if not more. Thus, from a business POV, it seems like a ludicrous thing to do.

Hornet in Silksong next to The Knight from Hollow Knight
Silksong could be the best-selling game of the year at this price. Images via Team Cherry, edited by Destructoid

But we're talking about Team Cherry here. This is a reputable, small studio, with no corporate oversight, doing its own thing, at its own pace. The game has been in development for a long time, and, based on the success of its predecessor, it's bound to be successful nevertheless, especially if its price is low and approachable for veterans and newcomers alike.

Even so, fans are still in disbelief. One reply under the Reddit thread, which first indicated the pricing, said, "There is no way in hell they are asking just that for Silksong."

"Wild if true," said another, adding the price is so cheap there's no point in playing it on Game Pass. And that's a major point. The studio knows it's going to release the game on Xbox's platform, and thus it would make sense to adjust the price to make it even more enticing for people to buy regardless of Game Pass availability.

All in all, Team Cherry likely expects massive sales, which at any price is going to generate millions.

Shai Gilgeous Alexander dribbling with the ball in NBA 2K26

In NBA 2K26, but performing massive dunks is still the way to go if you're not good with your timed shots.

Unlike throws, dunks bring a different kind of challenge. While you have a higher chance of converting your attack into a basket, it's not easy. The opposition isn't going to allow you to waltz through their defenses, and there are different types to master to add variety to your attack.

How to perform dunks in NBA 2K26?

While Visual Concepts has made some changes to the art of attack, the control scheme has largely remained the same. Standard dunks come in two versions: one-handed and two-handed.

  • Performing a standard one-handed dunk is really easy. Press the RT/R2 button with the ball to begin your drive towards the opposition's basket. Press Square/X near the basket to attempt to score a dunk.
  • Hold the R2/RT button and press the RS up when close to the basket if you want to perform a double-handed dunk. These have a specific height requirement.

While the standard dunks are great on most occasions, there are certain advanced tactics to try.

Player attempting a dunk in NBA 2K26

How to perform Skill Dunks in NBA 2K26?

The Skill Dunks are performed with the help of the RS and the RT/R2 button. Press the RT/R2 button to begin your drive towards the basket. The RS button should be pressed and let go at the correct moment to perform the dunk.

While the controls aren't complex, you must correct your timing to score a basket.

How to perform dunks with your dominant/weaker hand in NBA 2K26?

This is the hardest dunk to perform when it comes to execution. While driving at the basket by pressing the RT/R2 button, keep the RS turned right/left. You'll have to improve your timing if you're attempting to score a basket with your weaker hand.

Aside from the standard one-hand dunks, all other types are performed in NBA 2K26 with the help of RS and RT/R2 buttons. If you're new to the franchise, it will take some time to get used to it.
