Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, November 12, 2025 5:55 PM Undoubtedly the only thing anyone in the PC world will be talking about for the next week is Valve's trio of hardware announcements, the Steam Machine, the Steam Frame, and their new Steam Controller. But don't forget about the old Steam Deck just yet! While Valve didn't announce anything handheld related today, they have commented on where they're at when it comes to anything like a Steam Deck 2. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, November 12, 2025 3:25 PM How about that Steam Machine, 'ey? Consoles are now computers and computers are now consoles. What a topsy turvy world we're living in! I'm sure you have lots of questions, a lot of which I hope can be answered by James' hands-on look at the thing, but you may still be wondering how you'll know what games will actually work on it. The Steam Deck has its fancy verified badge that certifies that a game runs on the handheld, and it turns out that same badge is one that'll come in handy for the Steam Machine. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, November 12, 2025 2:03 PM Oh I do love a win! Today's is quite a surprising one, coming in the form of Jagex willingly removing some microtransactions from RuneScape after more than 120,000 people voted in favour of having them permanently removed from the game. To be frank, I am genuinely unsure if I have… well, ever seen a company do this simply because everyone hated them so much. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, November 12, 2025 1:10 PM Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is, in Dominic's own words, "merely okay." I haven't played it myself, so I can't comment there, the general consensus seems to be in agreement on that point however. The Chinese Room are working on turning that around at least! Today they released a new patch for the RPG, containing a bunch of fixes, and offered up a small roadmap of improvements and DLC to come. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, November 12, 2025 1:02 PM Deckard lives. Valve have officially announced the long-leaked Steam Frame virtual reality headset, and as rumoured, it is indeed a hybrid VR kit: one that can play both high-fidelity games streamed from a PC, and simpler stuff that's installed on the headset itself. A departure, then, from the Valve Index's pure focus on cabled-up PC VR. Yet neither is it a Meta Quest 3 with a Valve badge on it. Besides its smartphone-spec internals breaking new ground for the kind of hardware that Steam games can run on, the Frame is built with modularity in mind, potentially making it as upgradable and long-lived as an actual PC. As well as their other new gear, the refreshed Steam Machine and Steam Controller, I gave the Steam Frame a test run during a recent Valve visit, and mostly liked what I saw – though it'll need to make sure its ambitions to do everything in the VR space are more firmly realised than they are right now. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, November 12, 2025 1:00 PM Anyone who appreciated the weirdness of the original Steam Controller – and it still has its fans, despite ceasing production in 2019 – might look at this new version and think "Oi, that's just a Steam Deck with the screen cut out." An accusation to which Valve, one suspects, might respond by slowly leaning forwards, eyes so wide they resemble the old version's trackpads, staring the increasingly frightened sceptic in the face and whispering: "Yes." Except the new Steam Controller has more to it than merely transplanting the Deck inputs to a homebound gamepad. Having squeezed, caressed, and on a couple of occasions nearly dropped it on the floor of Valve HQ last month, I can tell it's already boding well not just as a controller for mouse-minded PC games, but as a general purpose pad for everything else. |

Idea Factory International announced one of its 2026 otome games will be Birushana: Winds of Fate, the fan disc and sequel to Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei. This comes four years after its March 2022 Japanese release. Digital and physical copies will be available, and a Plus limited edition is confirmed.
This acts both as a continuation to the original Birushana and an extension of it. That's because the five love interests from the previous games now get additional chapters to their stories that act as an epilogue showing what happens after they get together with Shanao, and the four new routes feature additional love interests who we now romance during the original storyline.
Here are the returning characters with epilogues:
The four new routes, which feature new love stories with characters who previously weren't romanceable in the original game, involve the following bachelors:
Here's the trailer for the game:
There will be an Idea Factory International otome game released before the Birushana fan disc, however. Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights will debut on January 13, 2026. That's also a Switch release.
Birushana: Winds of Fate will appear on the Switch outside of Japan in 2026.

Sanrio and Sunblink shared details about the 2.11 Boutique Chic Hello Kitty Island Adventure update and confirmed the schedule for the Days of Plenty Thanksgiving event and Give & Gather Christmas celebration. At the moment, the new patch with City Town feature is only available on Apple Arcade and isn't on consoles or PCs. However, Days of Plenty is already available everywhere.
As the name suggests, Boutique Chic is all about new avatar customization options and a new store in City Town. We can now make our character an amphibian like an axolotl or frog. Kuromi got her own boutique in the city. This means new clothing too. Full patch notes weren't released, so we don't know about all the new crate locations, furniture and clothing items, and quality of life updates yet.
With the Days of Plenty Thanksgiving and Give & Gather Christmas events, we're getting Hello Kitty Island Adventure activities one after another. Days of Plenty is live now and runs until November 18, 2025. New and returning mushroom and forest furniture and clothing will be there, and Keroppi is host. There's even a trailer showing all the activities for that. Give & Gather will run between November 20, 2025 and December 29, 2025. Again, new and old items will return, and we'll still be helping Cinnamoroll deliver gifts.
Here's that latest trailer:
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available for the Switch, PS5, PC, and Apple Arcade for iOS devices, and the Boutique Chic 2.11 patch is on Apple Arcade now ahead of a larger release.

HoYoVerse confirmed a new Zenless Zone Zero Special Program is on the way for 2.4. It will air at 3:30am ET/6:30am ET/12:30pm CET on November 14, 2025. We'll be able to catch it on Twitch and YouTube, as usual. The two new Zenless Zone Zero Agents Banyue and Dialyn appear in the official art, suggesting they'll also help act as hosts for the presentation.
The 2.4 update still seems to focus on the Waifei Peninsula region. The continuing Exaltists storyline will be prioritized. We'll also see the new characters appear during the quests. This means the Krampus Compliance Authority and The Outstanding Paragons Alliance will come up.
Both Banyue and Dialyn are Krampus Compliance Authority characters in Zenless Zone Zero, and they're the first two from the faction. We already know a bit about what to expect from them, thanks to drip marketing. Banyue is an Intelligent Construct like Billy Kid. He is a Rupture type Agent who deals Fire damage with his attacks. Dialyn looks to be a human character who fills the Stun role and deals Physical damage. We don't know what rank either one will be yet.
Here's the first Banyue YouTube Short:
And you can see Dialyn below:
The two current banners are a new Yidhari one and a Ju Fufu rerun. Both of those end on November 25, 2025, which means the 2.4 update should show up on November 26, 2025.
Zenless Zone Zero is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices, and the Special Program for 2.4 airs at at 3:30am ET/6:30am ET/12:30pm CET on November 14, 2025.

The otome game reimagining and alternate take on the Wizard of Oz called Over Requiemz will appear on the Nintendo Switch worldwide. It first appeared in Japan in April 2025, and Aksys confirmed it will show up in English in Summer 2026.
While we don't actually play as Dorothy in this Wizard of Oz otome, our heroine Yuhiru is swept away to Oz via a tornado and must travel to ruins around the country alongside bachelors based on the characters like the Cowardly Lion, Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man. The official Japanese site confirmed the love interests are Claude Grain (Scarecrow), Dorothy (Dorothy), Kaize Ozma (perhaps Tippetarius/Ozma), Molly Woodland (Tin Man), and Noil Bestia (Cowardly Lion). However, since this is a darker take on the concept, Dorothy is their supervisor and the other are four death row murderers assigned to the task.
Aksys also shared an official trailer that highlights all of the love interests and the opening theme song.
Aksys has another otome release coming up in November 2025. Mistonia's Hope: The Lost Delightshows up the Switch this week.
Over Requiemz is on the Switch in Japan now, and Aksys will release the Kogado otome game worldwide in Summer 2026.

Sanrio announced a new Abby Cadabby x Little Twin Stars merchandise collection that will be sold at the Japanese Sesame Street Market stores at the Ikebukuro Sunshine City and Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu in Tokyo. The cafe will also sell themed items like Star Donuts, a banana split sundae, and drinks. Things will start on November 20, 2025, and the merchandise will be sold at an online storefront that opens that day too. It's unknown if we'll see any of the items outside Japan.
There were 11 items listed so far, and prices did appear for all of them. In some cases, multiple variants will be available, but the first photo doesn't seem to show all designs. For example, the announcement mentioned three smartphone cases designed for an iPhone 13, 14, or 15, but only one showing Kiki, Lala, and Abby together appeared in the example.
Here's the full list of what we will see in the collection:
You can see some of the Abby Cadabby x Little Twin Stars Sanrio items Sesame Street Store will stock in the photo below.
Other recent Sanrio crossovers included Magical DoReMiand Cardcaptor Sakura.

For the first time in the series' history, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's multiplayer will feature two distinct playlist types: Open and Standard. One focuses primarily on connection-based matchmaking, the other incorporates skill. Here's how they work.
What is the Open Playlist in Black Ops 7?
The Open playlist could also be called the connection-focused playlist, as, according to Treyarch, it only lightly considers your in-game skill rating when matching you against other players. It will instead try to place you in lobbies that offer the best possible connection between you, the other players, and the server.
The goal here is to ensure the best possible hit detection and the lowest possible lag in gunfights. Fewer deaths around corners, more accurate shots actually hitting and damaging the enemy, and so on.
The game still utilizes SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking) in the Open Playlist, but to a much lesser extent. In previous titles, SBMM tried to split teams evenly along skill levels such that you would average a 50% win/loss ratio.
That system made it possible for highly skilled players to be placed alongside far weaker teammates, and if the opposing team were spread more evenly, it would probably result in a stomping for the stronger player.
With the new system in place, matches should be a bit more random in how teams are assembled and give stronger players a better chance of doing the dominating without needing to worry about how much their teammates are dragging them down.
What is the Standard Playlist?
The Standard playlist maintains the far stricter SBMM of previous titles, favoring more even team composition based on player score-per-minute and other performance metrics. However, as a separate playlist on a different screen from Open matchmaking, only those players who want the heavier skill-based lobbies are liable to go there.
It remains to be seen whether splitting the matchmaking in this way will cause a major split in the player base, but generally, it seems players are happy with the change.
What's less clear is whether what the community coined as Engagement-Based Matchmaking (EOMM) is still in effect. EOMM, in layman's terms, was a supposed additional layer of SBMM that pushed even harder for a 50/50 win/loss ratio while also favoring placing players together based on the skins they were wearing.
If players are just satisfied enough with how their matches are going, the logic went, they'd keep playing. And the more they played with people who shelled out real money for skins, the more likely they were to pony up as well.
It's also unclear if the SBMM changes being made at the launch of Black Ops 7 will remain in place for any length of time, or if the system will revert to its previous state from the last several years of Call of Duty titles. Hopefully, it doesn't.

Some items that should be more common in ARC Raiders feel like they're esoteric parts of the Arc of the Covenant, only the latter would probably be easier to find.
Unfortunately, they're necessary for many upgrades and progressions in the game, and you absolutely must find them if you're pose any serious threat to advanced players. The Power Cables are one such item, seemingly quite common but actually tough to get.
So, here are some spots that have the best odds of spawning them, allowing you to properly progress in the game.
Where and how to find Power Cables in ARC Raiders
Power Cables generally spawn in any Electrical, Commercial, or Residential loot zone, meaning there's quite a wide variety of locations you can visit to find them. However, they most commonly spawn in various electrical devices, such as in computer screens that usually appear in office spaces on the various maps or in Field Depots.
We have had the most luck with finding Power Cables in the lower parts of the Power Generation Complex on Dam Battlegrounds, where they tend to spawn as in-world items rather than in containers. You can usually loot them from the top of the various consoles and machines that are in those parts of the zone.
A few Field Depots in Dam Battlegrounds also tend to spawn with computers, whose screens can oftentimes be looted for Power Cables. Make sure to visit any of the depots you come across and check if you can't find some Power Cables inside.
Additionally, visiting places like the Grandioso Apartments in Buried City spawns a ton of these relatively common items, including Power Cables. The upper floors that have those bigger, more spacious apartments are the best parts to check out, as I've also looted pink components and blueprints from their many stashes before, alongside Power Cables themselves.

The Fried Motherboard is a crucial item when it comes to upgrading your workstations in ARC Raiders, but finding them can be a challenging task.
This item is specifically required to upgrade the Utility Station. You can also use the Fried Motherboard in different blueprints and crafting mechanisms. This guide will provide you with all the necessary information that will help you find these rare items on your raids.
Table of contents
Best Fried Motherboard locations in ARC Raiders
The Fried Motherboard spawns randomly in areas of Technological nature. You can find such areas across all four maps, but I have found the highest success from Dam Battlegrounds.
The Dam Battlegrounds map has several locations that are tagged as Technological areas. My favorite spot, and where I have had the most success, is the Research and Administration building. Located in the central part of the map, this colossal building has plenty of containers to breach and loot. You can search every floor to increase the chances of finding a Fried Motherboard.
The location is pretty popular for finding keys as well. Keys in ARC Raiders allow you to access locked areas and offer valuable loot, items, and blueprints. The keys spawn randomly across the map, but I have found a bulk of them from the Research and Administration building.
As a secondary choice, I have had some success from the Space Travel building in Buried City. Located in the northern part of the map, the building has helped me with a few Fried Motherboards. Finally, you can always gain them randomly (with low chances of success).
How to use the Fried Motherboard in ARC Raiders
Here are all the known ways of using a Fried Motherboard in ARC Raiders.

After much anticipation and endless leaks, Valve has finally come forward with what it's been cooking all this time: a trio (shocker!) of new devices, including Steam Machine (form-factor PC), Steam Frame (a new VR set), and the infamous Steam Controller, now improved and actually (seemingly) quite good.
The Steam Store pages have not yet been updated at the time opf writing, but Valve's own sites are already up and running for each of the devices, which also do not feature any prices as of this article.
The Steam Machine is a successor to Valve's previous device of the same name, and is now a portable, powerful, small, and quiet mini-PC that can be used on the go and placed literally anywhere. It runs on the SteamOS and is, as Valve argues, six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. Much like the latter, the Steam Machine will have its own set of "Steam Machine Verified" games on the company's storefront, ensuring you get the most out of it in anything you fire up.
Meanwhile, the Steam Frame is a new pair of VR goggles that aims to revolutionize the technology by turning the set into an actual PC that can be used, as is the Valve philosophy lately it seems, on the go. It is a lightweight VR system that Valve outfitted with the SteamOS and, like the above, is going to verify individual titles as "Steam Frame Verified."
It's integrated with Steam and can be used in both VR and non-VR scenarios, and I can't wait to see how the latter plays out, as it might very well be a necessary first step toward total VR integration in everyday use.
Lastly, Valve is offering a new, improved, and reformed Steam Controller that is much like the previous one but with a more traditional design. It's similar in most aspects to the DualSense controller by Sony, but has two trackpads that can act as mice for particular PC-specific scenarios. Everything about the controller can be edited and attuned to yourself via Steam Input, and since it's integrated with Steam itself, running it on any device with Steam installed is going to be a breeze.
It also supports both Bluetooth and USB connections, but can also be paired with your PC via Steam's own "Steam Controller Pluck," if that's your prerogative.
Valve typically follows up these hardware announcements with some big video game news, whether they're just small-time projects to promote the devices themselves or actual, full-blown games like Half-Life: Alyx, after Valve Index was shown to the world.
Many leakers and hopium addicts like myself believe Half-Life X could be the game announced this time around, but that could be just hope and cope. At any rate, it's good to see Valve actually doing things and pushing the boundaries in the industry, which is sort of its thing.
