One a them Star Wars was announced at the Let Geoff Have This He's Got Nothing Else Going On Awards this week, from none other than Casey Hudson. It's called Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a name that will instantly make any Knights of the Old Republic oldhead point at their screen that's Chappie style, which also happens to be a game that Hudson was project director on. The only problem with Fate of the Old Republic is that the studio that's making it only got started this year, calling into question how far away it is - a question that Hudson, kind of, answered.

There is something that lies in the belly of Metamorphosis that makes me recoil. The surface level concept is easy enough to follow. It is a 2D pixel art horror where you play as a "forsaken nun" who "walks the long road to absolution." The world you find yourself in in the game's demo is overbearing, crushing. Initially you find yourself in the depths of a church, and even that is worth questioning - what church has depths? When you come across a device, and what on the offset looks like gothic horror a la Bloodborne becomes perplexingly technological.

There has never been a time where the presence of a big Hollywood celeb making an appearance in a video game has drawn me in. Who cares! Most of the time they are not voice actors, and are just doing their own voice, maybe sometimes lending their face. And yet here we are with Matthew McConaughey, a man who is happily lending his voice to some AI software, in Exodus, a game that's basically just another Mass Effect from some folks who actually made Mass Effect. But! Said folks would like you to know that McConaughey's performance is all him, thanks very much.

It's funny to think that RuneScape: Dragonwilds, one of those cosy-ish, survival crafty type of games doesn't have farming just yet, but I suppose that's understandable given it is an early access game. Doesn't matter much either, as farming will be coming to the game next week as part of its Fellhollow update, which just got another look-in through a new gameplay trailer that also shows off all sorts of undead bashing you'll be doing.

Review: Forestrike Will Test Your Skills

Forestrike, a roguelike about martial arts fights and the power of premonition, sounds like it makes so much sense. Go on a journey. Enter basically your "mind palace" to work out a fight in your head. Implement it in reality, based on your foresight, to ideally survive and keep moving forward. If you manage to learn exactly what you should and do everything right. There are times it can be great! But when it isn't, I've found it can be the most frustrating roguelike I've ever played.

A foreign Admiral placed Emperor Lun Liao under his spell, and Yu is one of the few who sees exactly what's going on. As such, our warrior heads out under one of multiple Masters and Paths in order to deal with the Admiral and save the country. This means using the power of The Cold Eye, The Leaf, The Monkey, The Storm, and The Tiger to win, with only Master Talgun and The Leaf available initially. While you will head through the Moongate and practice using foresight to deal with the situation, you need to go through everything in reality, with no practicing, to understand the full scope of this political thriller and discover the truth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCbJLFTjgbo&t=1s

While it's never guaranteed that a roguelike will feature a fantastic story, or even offer any explanation at all, Forestrike offers an explanation and intent. Granted, you absolutely need to earn it! (Not to mention, I had to unlock my favorite Master.) Which is frustrating due to the difficulty. After seeing the outcome, I do think it is interesting. However, I'm not a fan of a design decision that means you lose access to certain options once beating a run with them. I feel like narratively, more could have been done with it, not to mention I really liked certain run types a lot. I do appreciate how the narrative does tie in to the repetitious nature of things and explains the foresight ability.

When a Forestrike run begins, you choose a Master. This influences the techniques and moveset you get. You then head into fights against The Admiral's forces. So an initial tutorial match will involve three enemies and Yu, with a task of surviving and perhaps accomplishing an optional goal for additional rewards. (For example, clearing it in under 10 moves.) Since Yu has three health and a heavy hit could knock out more than one, being careful is critical. Enemies come at you one at a time, and certain types have specific patterns you can memorize. You can use attacks or Techniques you've learned, and if you collected the right resources perhaps block or dodge an attack. When you win, you might get an active or passive Technique. These involve precise button presses and perhaps even resources. Once the first fight is done, you can see the map and determine which road (and experiences) you'll face that run.

While Forestrike is a roguelike, in that we are picking a path, building a "deck" of moves, and should expect to try multiple times before we succeed, there are ways in which it doesn't work like one. As a result, I feel like that weakens part of the experience. For example, the fights against foes felt random sometimes. I'd find myself in situations where I couldn't win, even if I was doing things "right." Also, unlike a more traditional roguelike, if you lose you don't start off in a better place next time. You begin with nothing carrying over. As such, it can get incredibly frustrating going through an attempt. Things might go great and you'll get situations that take advantage of your Techniques. But more often than not, I found myself outclassed.

I also felt like not all Masters' paths were created equal. Some of them can be really cool and fun! The Leaf is a good start, and I enjoyed The Storm. The Monkey is my absolute favorite. However, I hated The Tiger, even though I really liked Buton as a character. Perhaps it's just me, but it seemed like some were more creative and offered more opportunities for success depending on your choices and implementations of Techniques.

Forestrike features an interesting concept and aesthetic I appreciate, but can feel unbalanced. I happened upon many situations where I felt like I couldn't win, which was even why it took longer to prepare this review. I like the story and the way some of the martial arts movesets work. I just wish it didn't often feel like chance so heavily affected my odds of success.

Forestrike is available for the Switch and PC.

Fighter class in Ashes of Creation

Ashes of Creation has a pretty extensive class system that determines how you play the game and clear different content, and it will largely depend on whether you're engaging in PvP or clearing all the content solo.

The early access version is available on Steam and offers eight classes for you to try out. All eight classes have their own unique playstyles, strengths, and weaknesses. However, the best choice will vary based on whether you're going for solo play or PvP.

I will list down what I believe to be the two best choices for both modes.

Best Ashes of Creation classes for Solo

Solo play in Ashes of Creation is slightly tricky in my experience. While all eight classes can work well in the correct hands, there are two of them that just work very well for me.

  • Cleric: Much of your problems disappear if you don't die at all. The Cleric's kit makes it very hard for you to die if you're using the abilities well. Both Divine Flare and Deliverance provide massive heals, allowing you to survive the deadliest of attacks. Smite and Juggernaut add enough damage potential for you to damage enemies at will. This is arguably the safest choice you can make if you're playing Solo.
  • Summoner: The reason is quite simple. You play on your own, but you're never alone. Most of the work will be done by your summons, aka pets. They will tank, do damage, and even heal based on what you're summoning. You can serve every role possible with the Summoner class, which makes it a decent choice.

Best Ashes of Creation classes for PvP

Compared to solo play, you'll have to be more strict with your class choices if you want to stick with the meta. Here are my top two choices when you're facing other players.

  • Fighter: The good old Fighter class is an excellent choice for PvP. Its biggest strength is excelling in close-range combat. It will be immensely beneficial if you can close down on enemy players before putting them down. The Fighter can also heal itself with the help of Blood Fusion. The kit also offers a stance-swapping feature, allowing you to change things up based on the situation of a battle.
  • Cleric: No surprise that what I consider to be the best class in Ashes of Creation is amazing in PvP. If you're fighting in a team, the importance of heals rises further. In PvP, you'll want to use the Cleric in a sustained role, and your job will be to keep the team alive (unlike Solo, where you'll also have to do damage).

A matriarch in ARC Raiders.

ARC Raiders is a PVP game at its core, but not one without a strong social aspect. Whether or not one is justified in shooting down their fellow raider is heavily debated, with some claiming anything is fair with love and ARCs. However, Embark keeps close track of bloodthirsty topside tourists, so you might want to control that trigger finger.

As per PC Gamer, Embark Studio takes your behavior into consideration when matching you with others for your fun topside adventures, which includes your proclivity toward killing other humans desperately roaming the wastes, trying to procure scrap to sell and feed their family in Speranza. "[Matchmaking] is quite complex, so we do analyze behavior and match accordingly," Robert Sammelin, ARC Raiders' art director, said.

ARC Raiders hero
Embark Studios seems to profile you in the background, so watch yourself the next time you go up top. Image via Embark Studios

Sammelin did not wish to provide additional information to PC Gamer, but as they point out, a YouTuber investigated PVP and PVE accounts and found that behavior significantly impacts the matchmaking experience.

It appears that if you are of the itchy trigger-finger kind, you will get placed in lobbies filled with people of a similar school of thought, and no amount of "Don't Shoot!" callouts will help you out there. In turn, if you're chill and only there for the loot and fun and teaming up with others, then you could potentially start getting into more and more games where people are just the same.

The information we do have on the topic is quite scarce, but I find it rather interesting how your own mentality and behavior can shape your topside experience, even if what you're doing isn't necessarily wrong by any stretch of the imagination. After all, ARC Raiders is a PVP experience, one where survival is crucial, even if that means that you have to shoot a human rather than a robot from time to time.

It brings back memories of Left 4 Dead 2 and its hidden director that'd shape the environment based on player performance, making every action count, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.

Destiny 2 Equilibrium Dungeon

The fight against Dredgen Bael may be over for now in Destiny 2, but he's got followers that need to be brought to justice.

Destiny 2: Renegades' new three-player endgame dungeon activity, Equilibrium, is hosting a world first race on Dec. 13, 2025, and we've got all the details and live blog for you to follow along with to see who's winning, who's trailing, and who's about to become immortal.

Who won the Destiny 2 Equilibrium dungeon race?

Destiny 2 Renegades Key art

MarioMonkey's Team Tommy (also called Team Mario/Luigi/Biggz) won the Equilibrium Race to World First in just under two hours, being the first team to beat Dredgen Sere. The guardians received back-to-back wins in dungeon races, after they also took the crown by beating Sundered Doctrine before other squads. It's the first time anyone has ever been the first to beat two Destiny 2 dungeons at all, let alone back to back, as Evanf1997 and CBGray pointed out in the official broadcast.

https://twitter.com/DestinyTheGame/status/1999931327429198237

The dungeon race was shorter than some expected. The first encounter, clearing the Barant Imperium Forces, took only 19 minutes before seeing the first fireteam come out on the other side. It took an hour until Harrow, Dredgen Apprentice, met death at the hands of the first fireteam.

During their winning clear, the team focused on support, opting for a Solar Warlock with Well of Radiance, healing grenades, and the No Hesitation support auto from The Final Shape. Another Warlock used Contraverse Hold with Chaos Accelerant for hard-hitting Void grenades.

Bosses were seemingly the main roadblock for the dungeon, which is par for the course. Harrow, Dredgen Apprentice, held back a litany of strong teams, and Dredgen Sere was also a worthy obstacle. Even though squads mostly figured out mechanics quickly, the enrage timers foiled some attempts.

Bungie officially crowned the team as winners at 1:56pm CT. The normal version of Equilibrium then became available for all players, as is the standard for recent contest mode dungeon races.

Equilibrium dungeon race live blog updates

  • 12:56pm CT: Team Mario/Luigi/Biggz are the first team to clear Dredgen Sere. Bungie is waiting to confirm the victory.
  • 12:51pm CT: Team Mario/Luigi/Biggz land two consecutive damage phases and pull ahead of the competition.
  • 12:40pm CT: TheSnazzyRock also hit the damage phase. Other contending squads are still largely on the second encounter.
  • 12:37pm CT: MarioMonkey and ATP reached damage phases against Dredgen Sere. Jaikre changed rosters just after getting to the damage phase after one of its members disconnected, but they haven't made much progress since.
  • 12:19pm CT: Jaikre has reached a damage phase against the third boss, Dredgen Sere.
  • 12:14pm CT: ATP, MarioMonkey, and others are at the third boss. SaltAgreppo's Team Elysium just cleared the second encounter.
  • 12:05pm CT: MarioMonkey's Team Mario/Luigi/Biggz also clear the second encounter.
  • 12:00pm CT: ATP are the first squad to clear the second encounter and defeat Harrow, Dredgen Apprentice.
  • 11:55am CT: LlamaD2's team got to final stand against Harrow, Dredgen Apprentice, but couldn't clear the Enrage threshold.
  • 11:51am CT: LlamaD2's squad, Wordle in 3, pulls ahead in damage numbers. Teams are still optimizing their damage strategy as more and more contenders reach and/or hone their play for the second encounter.
  • 11:37am CT: Other squads reached damage phase, but it may still take some time to execute the mechanics and advance.
  • 11:34am CT: All The Players and Saltagreppo figured out how to get to the damage phase in the second encounter.
  • 11:28am CT: All The Players, LlamaD2, SnazzzyRock, SaltAgreppo, and more made it to the second encounter, where they must fight Harrow, Dredgen Apprentice.
  • 11:21am CT: Llama and All The Players (ATP) already cleared the first encounter and got sent deeper into a spaceship.
  • Dec. 13, 2025, 10:20am CT: Good morning, Guardians, it's dungeon race day. Equilibrium is here, and it's time to see who will be crowned world first winners in another Destiny 2 race. The race is starting in about 40 minutes once the dungeon is live.

    • Kestrel Prime Blade: Lith D7 (Common)
    • Kestrel Prime Grip: Neo K9 (Rare)

Compared to Alternox Prime, the Kestrel Prime has fewer parts to find. However, getting the Grip can be quite expensive as it's a Rare component that you can obtain from the Neo K9 relic.

Here's a quick rundown of how you can farm all the relics required for making the Kestrel Prime from scratch.

    • Meso and Neo Relics: The best spot for finding these Relics is the Ukko node in the Void. You'll find a capture mission, which is pretty easy to complete. The map is short, the enemies are pretty weak, and you can finish a complete run in less than a minute with frames like Titania. Every complete run has a 50% chance to drop a Meso Relic, and 50% for it to be a Neo. Other nodes remove this randomness, but Ukko is where you should farm.
    • Lith Relics: My favorite spot is the Olympus node on Mars, which guarantees a Lith relic on every rotation. You should farm this spot repeatedly if you're also looking to farm Gyre Prime pieces.

You can also obtain these relics from Relic Packs. You can trade for unlimited Relic Packs from various traders based on your Syndicate standings. You can also exchange Steel Essences from Teshin to get more Relic Packs. This method is completely random since there's no guarantee of what relic you'll obtain from the packs.
