We're pretty lucky when it comes to Switch and Switch 2 mystery games. Between Capcom rereleasing games in the Ace Attorney series and titles like Blue Prince being playable on the systems, there are a lot of opportunities to solve different sorts of puzzles. Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death is Aksys' latest visual novel with point-and-click elements, and it's got the same sort of tone and investigative element as the Phoenix Wright games. It's interesting and the sort of title more people should be talking about.
Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death begins with Doppo Akazawa heading to the village of Narumizawa. He's part of Teito University's Mystery Research Club, having joined after his friend Kotaro Izawa convinced him to become its fourth member. The two of them, alongside the group's "Blue-Blood Detective" Alice Nanjo and "leader" Kagero Tono, headed to the region to try and see what they could turn up about the Sanmei Incident cold case involving the murder of the artist Suiryu Uchida. His wife was considered responsible, but the group is going to using their "training camp" to determine if that's really the case.
Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death is an adventure game with mystery and point-and-click elements. Things start small, with a quick tutorial "case" involving the theft of a young man named Takeru Muto's idol merchandise on a train and Doppo helping determine if A-kura, B-tani, or C-ba is behind the "locked-room" mystery. This allows us to see Doppo's retrocognition ability that allows him to see into the past. After an incident two years ago, he can sometimes see purple haze around objects that indicate he can explore past memories to solve mysteries. When he makes use of this, we see "low resolution" versions of the past we can investigate to see what happened prior to current events.
What really makes Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death stand out from the very start are its production values. Rather than other visual novels or point-and-click adventure games, it feels very cinematic. There are a lot of dynamic perspectives and viewpoints shown. We see zoom-in and zoom-outs on important individuals. There's a sense of perspective, layering, and positioning when character portraits appear during conversations. There are also a lot of different character expressions used. When situations call for it, such as an early "practice" case on the train, we see moving backgrounds through windows. It's a great touch.
So is the way things look when Doppo uses retrocognition. Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death initially uses a menu-based approach with this gameplay element. When it triggers, we see pixelated or low resolution versions of spaces. A menu then appears that allows us to do things like "investigate," "take," or "talk" in that period. We get a limited number of actions during these scenes to explore and find clues to present a sense of urgency as we explore this different time and space than the present. Once you get that information and those clues, you need to go through and explore the current version of the scene and make deductions in the present with point-and-click mechanics to gain points, prove assertions, and discover the truth with your analysis.
I mentioned the tone of Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death is a highlight as well, and there's a great balance before more serious and dramatic moments alongside more comedic ones. For example, Kagero and Kotaro are both used in sillier scenes. But at the same time, the Sanmei Incident is treated with a sense of gravity, as are Uchida family situations and ones involving Doppo Akazawa's family.
I also appreciated how there are little extras to the Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death experience. Yes, we're exploring and working on a murder. However, there are also other elements. Getting to collect keychains by taking time to explore different parts of Narumizawa and talk to people ended up being more entertaining than I expected. There are also some retro-style arcade minigames along the lines of Heiankyo Alien/Digger and Asteroids. They aren't amazing, but they're okay enough as optional time sinks.
Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death ranges from dramatic to comedic as we watch college students attempt to solve a cold case, and Imagineer and Toybox handled its execution and presentation well. It looks great, with dynamic scenes, vivid character portraits, and clear visual distinctions between the past and present. It also manages to balance the tone well, hitting the right sorts of beats with appropriate emotions. It definitely reminded me of the Ace Attorney series, and I think folks who liked one would enjoy the other.
Path of Mystery: A Brush with Death is available on the Nintendo Switch.

The Parasitism 3 contract is a priority task to finish for the Sekiguchi faction in Marathon, and there are three parts to complete.
Compared to the second contract, the third one is slightly trickier unless you know where you need to be. Let's look at how to complete the contract by finishing all three tasks in a single run.
Table of contents
Marathon Parasitism 3 contract walkthrough
The Parasitism 3 contract can be broken down into three tasks.
How to loot Sparkleaf in Dire Marsh
For the first task, you need to find a Sparkleaf that grows in the wild. They don't have any fixed location, and you can find them frequently on your run. You can refer to the image above to know what it looks like. Once you pick the Sparkleaf and add it to your inventory, you can proceed to complete the remaining tasks.
How to extract Biotic Sample from Sparkleaf in Bio-Research
The next task is to extract the Biotic Sample from your extracted Sparkleaf. Head ot the Bio-Research POI located in the eastern part of the map. Once you're at the marked location, you'll find a big building as shown in the image below.
Take the ladder on its side and head to the upper floor. Enter through the door (right at where you get up from the ladder), and you'll find the terminal to extract the Biotic Sample from the Sparkleaf.
How to inject the synthesized sample in central Quarantine
For the last task, head to the Quarantine POI and reach the marked location. You'll find a small room, and the quest marker will appear, which highlights the location of the terminal. Place the Biotic Sample in the terminal, and it will provide the synthesized sample.
Inject yourself with the synthesized Biotic Sample, and escape the map unharmed to complete the Parasitism 3 contract. Once done, you'll have two more contracts remaining to complete in this series.

Parasitism 1 is one of the priority contracts you will find for the Sekiguchi faction in Marathon, and there are multiple tasks to complete.
The first Parasitism contract is pretty tricky to complete. You'll go up against a bunch of tough enemies, and all tasks must be completed in the same run. Let's look at how you can complete the contract without any extra risks.

Marathon Parasitism 1 contract walkthrough
The Parasitism 1 contract can be broken down into three parts.
How to acquire combat data from UESC Ghosts on Processing rooftop
The first task is relatively easy to complete (compared to the second task). Head to the Processing POI and take the stairs to the roof. Drop to the lower level of the roof, and you'll find a couple of UESC Ghosts. Shoot them down, and you'll get the two UESC combat data to add to your inventory.
How to acquire UESC Data Bank from Pinwheel Base center
This is the hardest task of the contract. Once you reach the marked spot on the image above, you'll find a terminal to open the Pinwheel Base. You'll find a tower to interact with, but you'll also need Clearance Codes (if you're playing in a trio, this job is easier).
Once you've all three Clearance Codes, you'll need to interact with the terminal to submit them. The terminal will allow you to access Pinwheel.
When you submit the codes, pay attention to what the terminal wants. Sometimes, it can want two codes, and they might often need to be of the same color. Ideally, you'll want to have two of the green codes and one each of the other two colors before you approach the terminal.
A bunch of UESC enemies will spawn after you interact with the terminal. Kill them, and interact with a nearby workstation to complete the hack. It takes some time for the hack to complete, so you need to be on your toes. Once the hack is complete, you'll find an elevator in front of you.
Take the elevator, run straight through two doors, and a quest marker will appear. You'll be approximately at the center of the Pinwheel Base location. Next, return to the same spot where you found the terminal (where you submit the Clearance Codes), and you'll find a DCON nearby.
There are three DCONs on the Outpost map. Submit the UESC Data Bank in one of them, and it will complete the first Parasitism contract. While the rewards aren't that worthwhile, it unlocks the latter Parasitism contracts that offer better goodies.

The Necrobinder is one of the two new characters in Slay the Spire 2, and it's a slightly tricky character to manage.
Unlike the other four choices, the Necrobinder doesn't fight alone. She has her loyal minion in the form of Osty. To win more fights, you'll have to strengthen the minion efficiently. Let's look at how to master the angel of death to clear all available acts.

How to use Necrobinder in Slay the Spire 2
The Necrobinder is a spellcaster who can use death and abilities around it to defeat enemies. However, she's not alone, as she's well supported by Osty. Her companion can do and take damage, and often works as a shield for her.
However, she is also arguably the most difficult character to manage. She has the lowest health pool among all available choices. Her deck also requires a lot of synergy between the cards to bring the best out of her. With Necrobinder, you'll have to be patient to set up the combos before you can go on the offensive.
Best Necrobinder deck in Slay the Spire 2
There are two approaches to take with Necrobinder. One route is to use the Doom mechanic. While I am yet to get consistent success with Doom, utilizing Osty is the way to go. It's easier to set up your companion to do massive damage once you've got a key piece in play.
The core strategy is simple: you build up Otsy while thinning down Necrobinder's options. Once Otsy has enough HP, he will act as your shield (and also your damage dealer).

Best relics for Necrobinder in Slay the Spire 2
Necrobinder doesn't require any specific relic as such to shine. With Otsy, you can go with almost any relic, but look out for the Bone Flute. The Bone Flute allows her to gain 2 Block whenever Otsy does damage. The additional shield can always prove to be useful.
