Like other fantasy-themed live-service games such as Final Fantasy XIV and Elder Scrolls Online, Genshin Impact has a highly customizable housing system. With it, players can craft furniture using materials they've gathered, they can grow flowers for use in potions, and they can even create little rock gardens in the…
The elevator pitch for Cassette Beasts, a forthcoming indie game, can't fit on a single line. A lo-fi monster-hunting game clearly inspired by Pokémon? Or, oh, oh, how about a top-down role-playing game with gorgeous pixel art and killer music? Surely it's something distinguished by being awash in '80s vibes? The…
Activision Blizzard, embroiled in legal wranglings over alleged appalling work conditions for its staff, has requested additional time to investigate and potentially disqualify the California Department of Fair and Equal Housing from its ongoing legal battle with the agency. You will have to pay extra if you want access to the dungeons coming during Destiny 2 Year 5. Bungie has provided some additional clarity on what to expect from the post-Witch Queen dungeons, but fans aren't satisfied with the answers, as it all suggests staying up with endgame content is going to be quite a bit more expensive than it's been in the past.
Three dungeons have been advertised for the new year of content. Two will be included with the digital deluxe edition of Witch Queen ($79.99 / £69.99 / €79.99), and one additional dungeon will be included with the 30th anniversary edition ($99.99 / £87.99 / €99.99). As Bungie has made clear today, those dungeons will be offered as separate purchases, too, but will not be included as part of any season pass purchase.
So to have access to all endgame content following The Witch Queen release date, you will need to purchase the expansion itself, the season passes, and either a deluxe upgrade or separate DLC.
Hardcore Tomb Raider fans already know that the reboot we got in 2013 originally took a much different form - a blend of Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, and Resident Evil originally titled Tomb Raider: Ascension. Info and bits of footage from Ascension have made their way to the internet over the years, and now the devs have officially released quite a bit of high-quality prototype gameplay, so we can see what might have been.
The roots of Tomb Raider 2013 are clearly here, as we see Lara making her way through a flooded cave, torch in hand, quite similar to the sequence that opens the reboot. And, of course, she's got a bow. But the differences quickly become evident once we see more of the monsters she's fighting.
The creatures are fairly upsetting-looking, with elongated forms and creepy teleporting abilities that would look at home in something like Silent Hill. See Lara in a mansion fighting off waves of zombies with a flamethrower. Then we get a bit of horseback riding as Lara escapes a giant monster and another horde of enemies, and a big boss fight in a swampland area.
Rare's pirate sandbox launched back in 2018, and after more than three years of updates, Steam ports, and continued access through Xbox Game Pass, the Sea of Thieves player count is continuing to grow at an impressive rate. The game has now reached 25 million players, and to celebrate, the devs are giving away 25 million gold - if you're lucky.
Whether or not you're lucky, you will get 25,000 gold and 25 doubloons for logging into Sea of Thieves any time between now and October 26 at 7am PDT / 10am EDT / 3pm BST. One randomly-selected player will also receive a 25 million gold payout - hopefully enough to pick up all the cosmetics available with that currency.
Sea of Thieves previously reached 20 million players in March, and 15 million back in July 2020. The game's getting bigger faster than ever, so clearly that Pirates of the Caribbean crossover worked out. Updates are continuing, too, and the underwater-themed Season 4 is currently underway.
I'm exhausted at the mere thought of most Ubisoft games now, but I do want to fall down mountains in Riders Republic. Among the many discoveries of this month's Twitch source code and data leak was a file called "do_not_ban_list." While not as black and white as the name suggest, the file sheds light on the otherwise opaque way Twitch has enforced its rules when streamers break them.
Today former Bungie director and co-creator of the Halo series, Marcus Lehto, announced on Twitter that he is joining EA as a game director and will lead a new studio that EA is opening up in the Seattle area, not too far from Bungie's HQ in Bellevue. At the moment, there's not too much out […]

The importance of having a functional and comfortable space for sitting at a computer cannot be understated. We're now living in times where working from home is commonplace for many that didn't previously do so, and the concept of mixing work and play is probably something many are also still trying to sort out. For us PC gamers, the need for plenty of desk space is a given. And space is not something all have in excess, which means the thought of combining the two may have occurred to you. If you're looking for a more professional desk that can accommodate both work and gaming, our review of the BDI Sigma series might just provide the answer you were looking for. Before we get this review going, it's important to note that we're looking at a high-end brand today. BDI makes a variety of office furniture with an emphasis on design and quality. The BDI Sigma 6901 is priced at $1179 USD currently, which might sound like a tall order compared to previous d...

Valve has introduced a new way to check the compatibility of PC games for the upcoming Steam Deck. Since not all games will offer the same experience, Valve has come up with a four-category solution to make things clear. The rating system takes into account how well certain games function and which criteria are met. Verified games must feature full controller support and be playable at the Deck's default resolution. In addition, games running through Proton must be supported by the software layer. Games labeled as playable should work fine, but may require some extra effort from users to make things work as intended. This includes manually selecting a community controller configuration, as is the case with Valve's very own Team Fortress 2. Unsupported games are not compatible with the Steam Deck and simply aren't playable on the device. One such example is Half-Life: Alyx, which isn't compatible since it requires a VR headset. Finally, Unknown means t...

In a surprise announcement, Asobo and Microsoft have announced a new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator — the Game of the Year Edition. Following its 1-year anniversary, the new GOTY edition has been created as a "celebration" of the journey up to this point, according to the development team. This new release of the game will feature a lot of goodies for fans. First off, it will include five brand-new aircraft, including Asobo's first official helicopter-like vessel: the VoloCity. Additionally, there will be eight new handcrafted aircrafts in both the United States and Europe, in addition to the inclusion of over 500 missing airports in the United States. Speaking of scenery enhancements, new photogrammetry cities will be added in across Europe. New missions are also being added in the form of six new Discovery Flights scattered across the globe, and new tutorials that cover two types of flying: bush flying and IFR. A highly-requested feature is also coming: Di...

Eight more PC games are on their way to Xbox Game Pass, finishing off the remainder of October. In the last announcement, Microsoft confirmed eight games to start out the month, including Visage and Swery's The Good Life. Finishing things off, we'll get Outriders, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Everspace 2, Age of Empires IV, and more. Two of the confirmed games are already out today. Both Outriders and Into the Pit are now playable on the service. Outriders enjoyed a lengthy amount of time on Game Pass already, but as a console game. Starting today, the PC version is available. Into the Pit is a retro-style, FPS rogue-lite where you fight off demonic powers while trying your best not to die. Xbox Game Pass for PC is getting more additions starting on October 21. On that day, get ready to scream long enough you end up in another episode of Dragon Ball FighterZ. The fighting game from Arc System Works made quite the impact when it released. The gorgeous anim...

Back in 2011, famed game designers Goichi Suda and Shinji Mikami put out Shadows of the Damned, an action title that combined Resident Evil 4-esque gunplay with a decidedly punk aesthetic. Although the game received a positive reception overall, both Mikami and Suda expressed frustration over the development process, noting that EA pushed them to adopt a radically different vision compared to what they originally intended. This does not mean that Suda specifically has given up on the IP entirely. In fact, Suda confirmed in a recent interview at Destructoid, our sister site, that he could work on a new game that incorporates IP that Grasshopper Manufacture already owns, including Shadows of the Damned. In this interview, Suda also mentioned that a potential new game could feature one or more of the characters included in his most recent title, No More Heroes III. These characters include New Type Kamui, Midori Midorikawa, and Notorious, all of whom made their debut in Suda's pr...

I've always liked video pinball games, even when I was a kid. One of the video pinball games I remember on the NES was Pinball Quest.
