Stardew Valley modders are already bringing Haunted Chocolatier to life

It's likely to be a long time before we get to play Haunted Chocolatier, the next game from Stardew Valley creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone. But it's almost Halloween, and it's tough to imagine a better way to spend the holiday than surrounded by pleasant ghosts encouraging you to create delicious chocolate. Luckily, Stardew Valley modders have it covered.

The Haunted Chocolatier mod by Edu Anttunes is available on Nexus Mods, and it will bring a bit of cocoa flavour to your farm. It introduces cocoa trees, and four new recipes: cooking chocolate, chocolate bars, white chocolate bars, and simple truffles. It also replaces a few bits of furniture so you can decorate your abode with ghosts and chocolate cauldrons.

Not quite the full Haunted Chocolatier experience, but certainly a cute way to change up your Stardew Valley decor. The real Haunted Chocolatier will have you gathering ingredients in a fantasy world, using them to make fancy types of chocolate, and then selling the results at your chocolate shop - though the game's still early enough in development that the details might change.

Bugsnax's Bigsnax DLC is coming free to PC, too

Bugsnax! They're bugs! They're snacks! And now they're big! As part of today's Sony State of Play stream, the devs at Young Horses unveiled Bugsnax: The Isle of Bigsnax, a chunk of free DLC coming to the game early next year. As befits DLC debuting during a PlayStation event, it'll hit PS4 and PS5, but the devs have confirmed in a press release that it'll come to PC, too.

The Isle of Bigsnax takes us to an island freshly emerged from the bottom of the ocean, populated with massive, prehistoric Bugsnax. The expedition will take place during the course of the original game - you can load a save from before the point of no return to access it - and will introduce new mechanics like the shrink spice, to make those giant snax catchable.

The update also brings new content to the base game. You'll now have your own hut in Snaxburg, and you can decorate it with over 200 pieces of furniture earned via a new challenge system with over 100 objectives to complete, as detailed on the PlayStation Blog. On top of that, you'll be able to collect Bughats to dress up the Bugsnax to the Bugnines.

Rust will let you trick or treat for an M249

It's almost Halloween, and plenty of games are getting into the spooky spirit. That includes Rust, which is getting a special Halloween update with loads of seasonal hijinks to get up to. You'll be able to carve pumpkins and build Frankensteinian monstrosities, but maybe the most exciting bit is that you'll be able to trick or treat for guns.

Once the Halloween update lands on October 28, a candy hunt event will run every two in-game days. You'll have three minutes to collect all the candy you can, and the top three players will get loot bags. You can pop open both the candy and loot bags for "various types of loot ranging from scrap all the way up to an M249", as the devs explain in a press release, or you can upgrade those candies for better loot as you go. You can grab a pumpkin bucket for instant candy pickup or a scarecrow wrap for candy vision, too.

Speaking of pumpkins, there are also carvable pumpkins here, which look like they provide much more robust carving options than the old jack-o-lantern items. The devs will be running a pumpkin carving contest offering £75 worth of skins and two Rust DLC keys to the winner - you'll be able to get more details on that contest on the official site as of October 28.

Google Stadia free trials controllerGoogle Stadia has not exactly become a runaway success in the way that some of its competitors have. Many have taken issue with the device's cloud service approach, and its launch back in 2019 soon become infamous thanks to a myriad of technical problems. Having said that, the device has received quite a few updates and new games over its run. Some have argued that these additions have made the Stadia a viable alternative to other gaming platforms. As reported by 9to5Google, one such update just recently dropped for Google Stadia, and it comes in the form of free trials for specific games. Hello Engineer, a multiplayer spinoff game based on the Hello Neighbor titles, serves as the first Stadia exclusive to incorporate this new feature. Even if players do not have a paid Stadia Pro subscription, they can still check out this free trial for 30 minutes at most. For Hello Engineer specifically, once the free trial runs out, you can either purchase the game directly for $20 USD or ...

22 52 ScreenshotThings around Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach got a bit murky after the series creator retired amid controversy, but the game now has a release date. It was known that the title was expected before the end of the year and, well, that was accurate, but it was cut kind of close, as it's showing up in mid December. At least fans will be able to experience a true 3D game in the series before the year is out. What will happen in the series' future sans the creator still remains to be seen, but we've been assured it will remain in capable hands. Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is set to release on December 16, which is just a couple of weeks before the year ends. The game is set in the first person, and the footage we've seen is detailed and eerie. Although you can move freely in a 3D space this time, the classic security camera gameplay is set to return as well. The player will be stalked by newly designed versions of Freddy, Chica, R...

Fatal Frame Maiden Of Black Water PC PortFatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is described as a remaster, but it's more of a straight PC port of the Wii U version with changed controls. Case in point, the original version was 15 GB, while this one is 22. Granted, I don't own a Wii U to go back and compare the versions side by side, but as best I can tell, the graphics don't appear to have changed much at all. As this is a port of a Wii U game, there's no reason to post any specs here. You can run this well if you have a dedicated GPU. There is a rather glaring problem with this port, though. If you have a 60 hz monitor, it'll all be fine on your end. If you don't, the game will either run at your monitor's refresh rate or thereabouts. I use a TV with multiple settings and usually game at 1440p/120hz. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water runs at a solid 120 fps for me for the most part. The problem is that the game's speed is tied to its frame rate, so I was playing the game at do...

Bugsnax Brings The Weird And Whimsy This Holiday 2020 (2)Bugsnax released last November to a positive reception. It's nearing its one-year anniversary, so the developer is celebrating with a free update that it promises is "substantial." This update coming to Bugsnax is called The Isle of Bigsnax, and is set to show up on PC and consoles in early 2022. As the game is going to release on Steam at an undisclosed point next year, that means that new PC players won't have long to wait at all to partake in this new update's features and content. There's even a trailer showing off the new stuff that fans of the game will want to check out. The Isle of Bigsnax update concerns a strange island rising up from the ocean without warning. The island is crawling with massive Bugsnax, hence the name. As such, you'll be getting back into the mix with your grumpuses and setting out to take a closer look at the island. The game's creative director confirmed that the voice cast, including Yuri Lowenthal, will...

Shoji Meguro atlusA potential heartbreak, heartbreak is settling in for fans of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. Longtime composer Shoji Meguro is leaving the Atlus Sound Team, as he endeavors to become a game developer on his own. Okay, it's actually not that bad. Meguro will reportedly continue to compose for Atlus as a freelancer, so we'll continue to get some of his sick soundtracks as the Megaten franchise continues. Meguro joined Atlus in 1995 and has almost single-handedly formed the sound for the Megaten series as a whole. The franchise doesn't just include the Persona series, but the Shin Megami Tensei series as a whole. In fact, Meguro has had a hand in over 20 games in the Megaten universe, making his career much more than the Persona franchise that became so popularized.   A sad surprise While I find it somewhat scary to think that we won't hear Meguro's amazing compositions in a Megaten game again, it's not all heartbreak.
