Battlefield 2042 is a game that's in dire need of some updates! The good news is that this morning DICE announced some that are coming over the next few months. The bad news is that they're not exactly going to set the world on fire.

As part of Microsoft's proposed $70 billion purchase, an official FAQ of sorts has been sent to all Activision Blizzard employees. Sadly not many questions are actually answered, with responses looking more like huge black holes in the shape of things that could be answers. One day. Maybe.

PSA: The Steam Lunar New Year Sale is expected to start next week

The actual Lunar New Year is on February 1, but it looks like the Steam sale is getting underway a bit early. Valve has not yet officially announced the Steam Lunar New Year Sale dates, but as always, the details have leaked through Valve's communications with developers. So get your wallets ready, because it's almost time for GabeN to give again.

The Steam Lunar New Year sale is set to run from January 27 through February 3, according to leaked dates listed on SteamDB. The new sale comes just 22 days after the Steam Winter Sale, so it's likely we'll see pretty similar discounts here. Still, if you've been holding out on a couple of major releases, now will be as good a time as any to jump in.

This will also be the last major sale before the Steam Deck release date, which will see the first run of Valve's handheld machine shipped out to early purchasers in February. Valve's ramping up efforts with its Steam Deck Verified program, too, which will provide indicators of how well a game will perform on the handheld right on the store page.

Monster Hunter Rise PC save bugs are still being investigated

Monster Hunter Rise has been out on PC for a week, and it's an excellent port that makes a great game even better - except for one major issue. Some players have been having issues creating save games since launch, which effectively renders the game unplayable unless you want to try Monster Hunter as a roguelike. Capcom's been investigating the issue since last week, and in a new update, the devs say, uh, that they're still investigating it.

"For those players who have encountered this issue, we wanted to reassure you that we are still investigating it as a priority," the devs say in an update to their original news post on the issue. "The team wants nothing more than to have you enjoying Monster Hunter Rise on PC with your friends and fellow Hunters. Thank you all so much for your continued patience and support, we'll provide another update when we have more news to share on this."

Capcom's troubleshooting recommendations include disabling Steam Cloud saves, deleting save data folders, and - the old classic - rebooting your PC. None of those solutions have proven a workable fix, and player attempts to track down the root of the issue have similarly met with dead-ends.

Splitgate beta season 1 new map modes custom map creator launch launches release dateSplitgate, the Halo-esque shooter with a love of portals, released to beta late last year. The beta hit the ground running, and was so popular that people couldn't even play it. As folks were trying to dive into the Splitgate craze, its servers buckled, and queue lines were implemented. Long story short, people couldn't get enough. The developer, 1047 Games, eventually eased the server strain, and gathered $100 million USD in funding to develop the game and fuel its future. Next week, we'll see the fruits of that cash and labor, as Splitgate beta Season 1 will launch next week with new modes, a map, and a custom map creator. The Season 1 update adds a ton of fresh content for the shooter. The Foregone Destruction map is getting reimagined, according to the announcement. Sadly, we don't know what the changes look like, but the team promises the arena will be brought up to "exemplary standards." There will also be new designs for items and weapons, ...

Silco Banner Tft ReleaseTeamfight Tactics is like League of Legends' less popular, smarter, unseen younger brother. It borrows heavily from the League of Legends universe, but hasn't seen the same popularity as the behemoth MOBA game. But Teamfight Tactics (often abbreviated to TFT) has seen a glow-up in its Set 6 update, introducing a popular new mechanic known as Hextech Augments. Riot Games is now expanding on TFT's popularity in its mid-set update, bringing in new champions, traits, augments, and get this: Silco from Arcane. Arcane was that one extremely popular show that aired on Netflix. You know, the one based on League of Legends, and introduced tons of gamers and non-gamers alike into the world of Runeterra. So the best way to cash in on its popularity is handing off Silco, a popular new villain in the show (and an original character at that), into the world of Teamfight Tactics. Okay, so TFT isn't as popular as League of Legends. But we auto-chess players are very excited ...

Vanguard Fixes DetailsSeason Two for both Call of Duty: Vanguard and the recently rebranded Warzone, Warzone Pacific, was set to kick off on February 2. But there have been some issues as of late in the realm of Activision's rooty-tooty point-and-shooty franchise famous for its minuscule campaigns and aggressively popular multiplayer battles. The developer teams are set to address these issues, which include balancing, stability, and optimization across multiple Call of Duty games. So Season Two of Vanguard and Warzone Pacific has been officially delayed. It's now set to kick off a couple of weeks later than previously intended. While this news may be surprising to the faithful, it's at least noteworthy that the company is listening and willing to improve the games to try and assuage fan concerns.   The new launch date for Season Two is now February 14, which will give nearly two extra weeks to work out some of the kinks players have been experiencing. The games are set to be impro...
