PCGamesN Saturday, March 19, 2022 1:32 PM There's a scary new Elden Ring exploit going around that allows an invading opponent to crash your game and mess up your save file - so you become stuck in an infinite falling death loop and are unable to continue the open-world game. Scary stuff, for sure. Elden Ring is one of the best RPGs on PC and certainly an early contender for game of the year, but it's by no means perfect - or unassailable. While there are some fun tricks and traps you can play on unsuspecting opponents in the game's multiplayer modes, it turns out that there are terrifying hacks doing the rounds too. This particular hack is less of a security exploit than the trouble in Dark Souls earlier this year, but it's no less aggravating. Basically, what happens is the hacker joins your game as a seemingly regular invader and hacks your game so it crashes. When you load back up your save, you'll find your character stuck in an infinite falling death loop and unable to continue. PCGamesN Saturday, March 19, 2022 12:21 PM There's nothing better than a city-builder game unless it's about building cities on Mars - and you can now do it in co-op, thanks to the newly-added Per Aspera multiplayer modes. As of now, up to four players can work together to colonise Mars, as Per Aspera is now a co-op game. For the last few months, developer Tlön Industries has held various online betas for players to test out. Now, around 15 months after Per Aspera launched on Steam, the full multiplayer co-op experience is finally available for the sci-fi management game. It works like the Sandbox mode, and there won't be any PvP or military buildings - not yet, anyway. Basically, how multiplayer in Per Aspera works is that up to four players can land separately on Mars and create their own little districts and colonies. However, research is shared and resources will have to be, too. You can save and return to the session at any point, so you don't have to play a round of this gigantic city builder all at once. PCGamesN Saturday, March 19, 2022 12:21 PM It's now possible to play Steam Deck Xbox games, thanks to Microsoft. For anyone with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription - which includes the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta - the publisher now provides instructions on how to get it running on Steam Deck, so both Halo Infinite and Halo 5 now run on Valve's console. Despite a massive amount of games being playable on the Steam Deck, there are a few major games that just won't. While there are around 26 Xbox games verified for Steam, Halo Infinite and Gears 5 are not among them. While the Steam versions of these games still don't work on Valve's console, there is a workaround for anyone with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Furthermore, one of the biggest benefits for PC owners with the Ultimate version of Game Pass is the ability to stream Xbox games on the cloud - even games that still aren't available on PC, such as Halo 5, Fable 2, or Perfect Dark Zero. Thanks to the work of the Xbox Cloud Gaming team, all of these games are now playable on Steam Deck. RELATED LINKS: Best SSD for gaming, How to build a gaming PC, Best gaming CPU |
PCGamesN Saturday, March 19, 2022 8:16 AM March 19, 2022: The Itch.io Ukraine bundle has now concluded, raising over $6 million. The Itch.io Ukraine games bundle was a stellar deal, as for the cost of just $10 people could get their hands on nearly a thousand indie games - including names such as Superhot, Celeste, Wandersong, and Skatebird - with the money entirely going to support charities working in Ukraine. As companies such as EA and Microsoft pull sales in Russia, many are pushing for charitable donations to relief organisations in Ukraine. Aside from suspending sales, Activision Blizzard has promised to match "employee donations 2:1" to support Ukraine. Cold War city builder Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic will get a new DLC pack with all its funds donated to charities, and John Romero's new Doom 2 level has raised over €25K in relief funds. Earlier this month, Itch.io began its Bundle for Ukraine, containing around 889 games and 102 digital game-related items. They could all be unlocked for a minimum $10 contribution, all of which is split between two charities working in Ukraine - the International Medical Corps and Voices of Children. PCGamesN Saturday, March 19, 2022 7:58 AM Content warning: this article contains references to medical emergencies, cardiac arrests, and near-death experiences. As a big Dark Souls fan, I expect to die again and again while playing FromSoft games, but I never thought it would happen to me in real life. In early September of 2021, it did. Twice. I didn't know it at the time, but I had walking pneumonia. At three in the morning on September 3, 2021, I was having difficulty breathing. I managed to call 911 before collapsing in my front hallway. The cops had to bag me with oxygen until EMTs arrived on the scene. I had a cardiac arrest and the EMTs performed CPR on me. They got me into an ambulance, where I had another cardiac arrest. They shocked my heart again and for one of the cardiac arrests, they jabbed me with an epinephrine injection as well. Oh, and I had a stroke at some point, too. That's always an afterthought: the stroke, overshadowed by the two cardiac arrests. Siliconera Saturday, March 19, 2022 10:30 AM Mages uploaded the opening movie for the upcoming The Quintessential Quintuplets: The Five Memories Spent With You video game. The video features all five Nakano sisters singing the game's theme song, "I Want to See Your Smile." The opening theme also includes scenes of the sisters' graduation trip to Okinawa. [Thanks, Gamer!] The Quintessential Quintuplets: The Five Memories Spent With You will center around protagonist Futaro Uesugi. Uesugi works as a student tutor for the five identical Nakano sisters. At the start of the series, it's revealed that he will eventually marry one of the five sisters. The game will follow the characters as they go on a graduation trip to Okinawa and visit various real-life locations. As such, most of the opening movie revolves around each sister spending time with Uesugi. Specifically, we can see them visit popular tourist locations such as the Shurijo Castle, as well as participate in snorkeling, paragliding, and going to the beach. These events will likely play a key part in the game's 15 different endings. You can check out the Quintessential Quintuplets game opening movie below. https://youtu.be/qdesxoalTBg This is the second Quintessential Quintuplets game from Mages. Siliconera Saturday, March 19, 2022 9:00 AM Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will temporarily lose its free-to-play edition on PS4. According to an announcement on Bandai Namco Entertainment's page, it will "terminate" Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite on the PS4 on March 23, 2022. Then, around the beginning of April 2022, a new version of the title will reappear, allowing players to download and play as normal. Players can migrate save data from the previous version of the game to the new one. Content in the two versions is identical. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 originally launched in 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bandai Namco ported the game to Nintendo Switch in 2017 and Google Stadia in 2019. Xenoverse 2 Lite is a free-to-play version of the game available on PS4 and Xbox One that came out in 2019. Bandai Namco released a Switch version of Lite, but later removed it. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite functions as a trial or demo mode of sorts, as it carries significant limitations on content and progression. Players who start in the Lite version can retain their progression and characters if they choose to upgrade to the full version of the game. The Lite edition includes the following content:
The Lite edition also comes with restrictions on available skills, equipment and characters. For example, Lite players cannot create Saiyan or Frieza Race custom characters. They also can't use race-specific transformations other than Kaioken and Potential Unleashed. Player levels are also capped at 50 (compared to 99 for paid players). Lite players cannot access the Guru House, and as such cannot increase their stats past the cap of 100. Lite players also cannot fly in the lobby area, making it difficult to reach certain NPCs. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite on the PS4 will go offline on March 23, 2022. It will return in early April 2022. The Xbox One edition of Lite is unaffected. The full version of the game on all platforms will function as normal. The post Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite to Close, Relaunch in April appeared first on Siliconera. |
