2023's Wonder Festival in Japan will have a large-scale attraction for fans of Mobile Police Patlabor. According to an article in Mantan Web, Wonder Festival Winter 2023 will host a pretend "trade show" oriented around showing off and judging "Labors," the mecha from the Patlabor setting. [Thanks, ANN!] The trade show, which will take place on the Wonder Festival Winter 2023 grounds at Chiba's Makuhari Messe event hall, is called "The 1st Makuhari International Labor Show." It parodies the "Tokyo International Labor Show" from Patlabor. Mecha designed Yutaka Izubuchi will attend the show, and serve on a judging committee evaluating models to receive the Labor of the Year prize, selected from submissions taken between August and December 2022. The exhibit itself will display art and figures of Labors from the series. Mockup art seen on the WonFes 2023 website also includes what looks to be a life-size model of the AV-8 Ingram, the Patlabor used by the cast in the show. Mobile Police Patlabor appeared in various forms since 1989, including direct-to-video OVAs, a TV series, several animated films, and live-action adaptations. The titular "patrol labors" ("Patlabors" for short) belong to Tokyo's police, and are used to stop crimes using Labors. The anime follows the members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2 (SV2 for short). The SV2 is a ragtag unit with a poor reputation, but gains the use of the AV-8 Ingram, a highly advanced prototype Patrol Labor. The Ingram appeared as a playable unit in Super Robot Wars: Operation Extend. Wonder Festival Winter 2023 will take place in Japan on February 12, 2023. Nintendo and EDITMODE's new Splatoon 3 merchandise item is the "Manatee Swag Sweater." Pre-orders for their line of Splatoon 3 clothes are now open. This line of merchandise is born as a collaboration with EDITMODE's brand "The King of Games." They are taking the in-game clothes from Splatoon 3's virtual wardrobe and making them into real clothes items, as they did before for Splatoon 2. People in Japan can pre-order now from EDITMODE's online store. [Thanks, Game Watch!] The iconic "Manatee Swag Sweat" sweater from Splatoon 3 costs 14,850 yen (roughly $112), and it comes with a Splatoon themed tote bag. The previously released "Tri-Squid Tee" (Ika-san T) and "Tri-Octo Tee" (Tako-san T) are available again for pre-order for 5,555 yen each (roughly $42). Kid sizes for both t-shirts are available for 3,980 (roughly $30). The release date for these items is aiming for April 2023. More details to come in the next months. A Spy x Family music video for the ending theme "Shikisai" appeared on the official TOHO Animation YouTube channel. "Shikisai" by yama is the ending for the second cour of Spy x Family. The music video uses the full version of the song. You can watch the Spy x Family "Shikisai" music video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSfRA8UvjLA Outside of using clips from the show, it shows the three members of the Forger family over various color palettes. Side characters like Becky, Damian, Yuri, and Handler make appearances as well. The music video does not include any major spoilers for the anime. Spy x Family is a widely popular manga and anime series. As of December 2022, there are over 29 million copies of the manga in circulation. As well, the voice actors for the main Forger family characters have appeared on the Yahoo Search Japan Search Awards for 2022 as a result of this show. The largely comedic and episodic plot follows Loid Forger, a spy who needs to create a fake family for the sake of a mission. Unbeknownst to him, his fake wife is an assassin and his fake daughter is a telepath. Spy x Family is readily available on streaming services like Netflix and Crunchyroll.
