PCGamesN Wednesday, April 5, 2023 1:00 PM Destiny 2 XIM, Cronus Zen, and ReaSnow S1 detection may be coming to the popular FPS game, according to a Bungie developer comment recently shared by the Verge. Destiny 2 players using these tools to enhance their gameplay may finally switch to grinding aim training software to improve those headshots. These tools have long conferred unfair advantages in FPS games, such as enabling controller aim assist to mouse and keyboard users and making it easier for them to land shots. The Bungie developer comment, which The Verge says was made in February, suggests the team is actively looking for ways to detect XIM, Cronus, and ReaSnow S1 tools that allow mouse and keyboard players to leverage controller aim assist in giving them significant gameplay advantages. This is particularly notable in PvP activities such as Destiny 2 Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, as it can allow players with poor aim to take down superior players who have meticulously honed their craft throughout the years. Focusing on stealth, the Void Hunter is fun to play in raids, Crucible, seasonal activities, and everything else Destiny 2 has to offer. Destiny 2 overhauled Void 3.0 a long time ago, following it up with Solar 3.0 and Arc 3.0 upgrades. However, the Void Hunter remains practical and fun to play; it remains one of the best subclasses for Hunter mains in the popular free PC game. It's been almost a full decade now, rather terrifyingly, since Payday 2 released on Steam. PCGamesN Wednesday, April 5, 2023 10:22 AM What are the best crime games on PC? Videogames are, and have always been, all about fulfilling a fantasy. We step into virtual worlds to fight evil, slay monsters, grab sweet loot, or go to war online. They're a chance to do something we wouldn't usually do - and that includes crime games. With that in mind, games that focus on crime are popular for that very reason - they're (hopefully) not something you'd attempt in real life. Ever since RPG game Grand Theft Auto challenged players to earn as many Wanted stars as possible, gamers have been pushing the limits of reckless behaviour and general naughtiness. We reckon at least one of these is sure to make you an offer you can't refuse, as they aren't only naughty power fantasies, but some of the best PC games ever. Between modern-day crime epics, online heists, fisticuffs in faraway places, and a trip back in time to criminal empires of yesteryear, we've got a little something for everyone. PCGamesN Wednesday, April 5, 2023 10:59 AM Want to know what the best JRPGs on PC are? JRPGs are a very different beast to western RPGs, and the genre has significantly evolved since the early days of both the classic NES era Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games. The very best JRPGs range from vast open-world adventures to more refined turn-based combat as seen in tactical RPGs. Some JRPGs do away with traditional fantasy in favour of a more realistic setting; others focus on adding to the game's overall package to flesh out the world. Either way, the best JRPGs bring a different flavour than what you can expect from the best RPGs in the west, and could be considered some of the best PC games to fans of the genre. The Void elemental class has some of the most powerful builds in the game within, and as a result, is a popular pick for the Warlock across all modes. Destiny 2 introduced its Void 3.0 overhaul into the free PC game several seasons ago, and even though it has since introduced its Solar 3.0 and Arc 3.0 overhauls, many players agree that the Void elemental class can offer players some of the most powerful builds in the game, and even with the Strand subclass being introduced when the Lightfall release date rolls around, Void could still be one to keep your eye on. We thankfully won't need to re-run that result, but we cannot fully leave the past behind us. One eagle-eyed reader observed that time loops and staged reloads "aren't really comparable", and I cannot overstate my embarrassment at having made such an obvious mistake. My deepest apologies to everyone who has trusted me to conduct this research with great rigour. I must do better. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, April 5, 2023 11:47 AM Nvidia have previewed the upcoming Overdrive Mode for Cyberpunk 2077, showcasing how it replaces the game's already extensive ray tracing effects with full path tracing. Why Nvidia and not the developers, CD Projekt Red? Well, that might have something to do with Overdrive Mode being such a graphics card shatterer that it will supposedly take a GeForce RTX 40 series GPU – with DLSS 3 in effect – to run. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, April 5, 2023 11:24 AM I really like retro first-person shooters. Show me a game with a gun in it that looks like it could feasibly run on Windows 95, and all of the neurons in my brain will start to fizzle and spark. I just think they're neat, and their recent resurgance has been extremely nice for me, specifically. Unsuprisingly, then, I've been very excited to get my hands on Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, a retro FPS by Auroch Digital set within the grim-dark universe of Warhammer 40k. A retro shooter where you play as a Space Marine is so obvious a pairing it's a wonder the concept has never been tackled before, to the point where the game's own marketing materials sort of pretend that it already was back in the 90s but everyone just forgot about it. |

Essentially an RPG/tower-defence hybrid. You might also remember that a sequel was announced before it somewhat fell off the map - you probably don't remember since it happened a decade ago, to be fair. Regardless, Defender's Quest 2: Mists Of Ruin is now ready to re-emerge into the public's consciousness with a 2023 PC release. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, April 5, 2023 11:04 AM An important Star Wars question is: what colour lightsaber would you have? The lightsaber is the mood ring of elegant weapons for a more civilised age. Jason de Heras, design director on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, agrees with me on the purple blade (a colour introduced to the canon specifically because Samuel L. Jackson wanted it for his character in the prequels). "I was like, 'we gotta have a pink lightsaber blade'," says production director Kasumi Shishido. "So whenever I play I always stick with my pink saber." Shishido tells me the dev team focused on improving on Jedi: Fallen Order for this sequel, and one of the bigger areas where they did that was customisation. "We knew we wanted to put more resources and effort into it," she says. "There's a lot more that you can do with Cal, with BD... and just within Cal, it's not just outfits you can customise, so I'm just really excited to see what players are going to do with it." |

Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 3:30 PM Pizza Hut in Taiwan is holding yet another collaboration with Genshin Impact. This time, Yelan and Ningguang are the characters who will come with your order. The first collaboration event starred Eula and Amber. The event will run until April 30, 2023 in China when you order food from Pizza Hut. [Thanks, inaem on Reddit!] Both Yelan and Ningguang still maintain a classy Chinese-inspired aesthetic in their Pizza Hut outfits. Ningguang has tied up her long hair and Yelan is wearing a beret. It seems that you will get one of them on your pizza box, though it's unclear if you will get an option to choose. If in-game awards will appear for the Pizza Hut collaboration, it will likely either be exclusive to the Chinese server or appear on global servers later on. This was what happened with the KFC collaboration that featured Diluc and Noelle. Here's a picture of one box people can get. In Genshin Impact, Yelan and Ningguang work together, and they are highly prominent figures within Liyue society. This is likely the reason they are paired up together. Yelan is a limited 5-star who is only in the gacha when her banner re-runs. Meanwhile, Ningguang is a 4-star, which means that players always have the chance to pull for her. Genshin Impact is available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The Genshin Impact collaboration with Pizza Hut is only available in China until April 30, 2023. [Thanks, 4Gamer!] This attraction will be a real-life one that takes place within Kabukicho Tower. You can form parties of two to three people, and use various RPG-like skills in your quest. Skills include Fight, Throw, and Search. The story of Anomaly Quest will focus on the player being an ALfheim Online player, who's trying to defeat Kirito and Asuna. This is because the game itself has made defeating them a quest, and the player who accomplishes this feat will get a grand prize. This is not the only upcoming attraction at Kabukicho Tower. There will be an escape room-like event featuring Neon Genesis Evangelion. This event will start up from April 28, 2023. Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 2:30 PM There are two new class items to unlock in Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC, and they are the Enchanter and Mage Cannoneer. However, you don't immediately get access to items to class change into each one. Rather, you need to beat the DLC to acquire them. However, if you want more than one of each in your army, it can get expensive. How to unlock the Enchanter and Mage Cannoneer in Fire Emblem EngageBasically, you need to beat all six chapters of Fell Xenologue. You get one of each class change item as a reward for finishing this extra campaign. That means one Enchanter's Mystic Satchel and one Mage Cannoneer's Mage Cannon. However, both also unlock at the in-game item shop once cleared, with people able to buy an unlimited number of them if they have the money. These are very expensive items. With a Silver Card that gives a 30% shop discount, the Mystic Satchel is 28,000G and the Mage Cannon is 63,000G. Without, it is 40,000G for the Mystic Satchel and 90,000G for the Mage Cannoneer. The Enchanter uses arts and daggers in Fire Emblem Engage. It also involves effects with weapons and items. Its level 5 skill is Convoy, which lets the unit access item storage, just like someone can The Mage Cannoneer uses its cannon special weapon. Fire Emblem Engage is available for the Nintendo Switch, as is the Fell Xenologue DLC. The post How to Unlock the Enchanter and Mage Cannoneer in Fire Emblem Engage appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 2:20 PM Once you beat all of the chapters of the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue, players get a number of rewards all at once. Some of them are the five additional playable characters. Two allow you to change to the new Enchanter and Mage Cannoneer classes. However, there are also a number of other items you earn for your efforts. Editor's Note: There are spoilers for the characters and items you earn as rewards for completing the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC below. The first things you'll get for beating the DLC are the playable Four Winds characters based on the Four Hounds you see in the main campaign. After seeing a cutscene, you'll be informed that Gregory (Griss), Madeline (Marnie), and Zelestia (Zephia) are now a part of your army. After that cutscene, a second one will play. Once finished, you'll see a message noting that Nel and her brother Rafal (Nil) are a part of your crew. Once all that is done, you'll be taken to the Somniel proper. Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 2:00 PM Games can offer unusual opportunities to cover more mature themes in inventive ways. They can let developers tell stories about serious concepts, in a relaxed and approachable way. Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories can often feel like a slice-of-life, relaxed adventure game about getting caught up in a small town mystery, yet it still deals with serious topics like illegal activities and political corruption. It's interesting, to be sure, but often feels like it's a little too surface-level an experience. Honeydew and Cantaloupe are childhood friends who both find themselves living and working at Eglantine Industries at a melon processing plant. It seems like a fairly typical corporate job working on sodas. However, when Cantaloupe leaves work with a suitcase one day and tells Honeydew to meet him at Hog Town, things go awry. Once there, he's disappeared, and the peaceful, melon-banning town is in the midst of an election that could see Kitten King taking charge. While everything seems bright and cheerful, there's an ominous overtone, and Honeydew will need to find out the truth behind Eglantine and Kitten King. It's best to consider Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories as an interactive story with some light adventure elements. You'll primarily be following NPCs as you notice them head to different places or collecting rather obvious items to drive the story forward. Dialogue choices don't really make much of a difference. You'll eventually get access to every area. Obvious side quests will open up in later chapters after things happen or time passes. To its credit, Froach Club attempts to set up ambiance in the game. Characters can be personable and quirky. While lines from characters may be short, they aren't without their charm. It can take some time to realize which NPCs will eventually end up mattering, though a good rule of thumb is someone with a name that you talk to more than three times is going to probably be a big deal. An NPC may essentially break the fourth wall about the title's Game Boy color scheme. There are times when it feels like it expects a sense of familiarity with the people around you and the original Melon Journey. I wouldn't say the context is essential, as it is accessible and enjoyable enough going in without that added support. But there were moments when it felt like maybe I was supposed to care more about two characters declaring their love or another finding lost family members. Perhaps the greatest instance of this involves the main characters themselves. Honeydew spends much of the early game searching for Cantaloupe, a friend who also works and lives at the same melon soda factory as you. However, it doesn't exactly do a great job of establishing why you'd care enough to do so. When certain plot points happened, I supposed I was supposed to feel something about it. But because I knew so little and relationships weren't established, it fell flat. Perhaps it was supposed to carry more weight because you could name the two main characters after yourself and a friend? But what really got to me about Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories is that I couldn't trust it. It kept crashing on my Switch. Even after a patch 1.0.1, it would suddenly crash in the middle of a conversation or when I was traveling between areas. It got to the point that I actually uninstalled, then reinstalled it, in the event there was an issue on my part. But no, it just didn't care for my Switch OLED. Given there's no auto-save, I at one point lost about an hour of progress because I didn't realize this would be an issue. Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories feels a bit like a slice-of-life mystery with a hidden seedy side. There's darkness afoot, and players can make a difference. However, it often feels like it attempts to imply a familiarity with the characters and world that may not be there. While sometimes charming and pleasant enough, it can feel like a very surface-level adventure. There's nothing wrong with that, though it might be a good idea to wait for a patch or two before heading to Hog Town before catching up with this crew. Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on April 6, 2023. Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 1:30 PM A new video on Square Enix's Twitter account for Final Fantasy XVI shows a clip of Clive in battle against Ifrit. Though the game is still in development, it gives a fairly clear look at the UI thus far. Clive seems to switch between Phoenix (fire) and Garuda (wind) in battle, using their skills in tandem in order to face off against Ifrit. You can watch the video of Clive fighting Irit here: https://twitter.com/FF16_JP/status/1643554075961597952?t=SJviA7nI9vMMql8hl0yKcg The HP bars on the top of the screen resemble that of a fighting game. This is in line with the Final Fantasy XVI development team's past interviews stating that the game would be more action-oriented than previous titles. We've also seen this in previous footage in which Ifrit fights Typhon. In the Final Fantasy XVI clip of Clive's fight with Ifrit, it looks like he uses Garuda's Deadly Embrace to grab Ifrit and throw him to the ground. After the Dark Eikon is incapacitated, he seems to use Phoenix's Flames of Rebirth to deal damage. It's unclear at what point of the game this fight will take place in. From what we know about the story, Ifrit is the main cause of Clive's problems. Some tragic events revolving around Ifrit will send Clive on a journey for revenge. Final Fantasy XVI will come out on the PS5 on June 22, 2023. It will be exclusive on the platform for six months. However, more news about the event will appear during Holo Trials at 7pm PT/10pm ET on April 5, 2023. Cover's announcement didn't go into exact details as to why the Hololive English ticket sales were delayed. It only noted that the schedule changed. As for the first Holo Trials, here's the official announcement. It shows A-chan, Ninomae Ina'nis, IRyS, and Hakos Baelz on the thumbnail. It also references the upcoming performance.

Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 12:30 PM Now that the Fell Xenologue Fire Emblem Engage DLC campaign is here, you may be wondering how many chapters are in it and how long it will take to beat. The good news is that it isn't terribly extensive, especially if you're going into it with an endgame save with all characters and Emblem Rings available to you. You'll only need to go through six chapters to unlock the new content in the main game. Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC chapter titles below. How many chapters long is the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC?There are six chapters to the Fire Emblem Engage DLC. They tend to vary in length. I was playing on the Normal difficulty with a post-game save that had all characters available, and it took me around four hours total to complete this campaign. Here's the full list of chapters in the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue.
Do I need to beat the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC in each playthrough? If you want the Mage Cannoneer and Enchanter classes and the five extra playable characters, then yes. Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 12:00 PM All eleven episodes of the Tales of Symphonia anime are now available on the official Tales YouTube channel. These OVAs came out between 2007 and 2012, with ufotable the animation studio behind them. Other anime that ufotable worked on include Tales of Zestiria X, Demon Slayer, and Fate/Zero. Though there are eleven episodes in total, the Tales of Symphonia animated adaptation actually consists of three separate OVAs. There are four episodes in Sylvarant Episode, four in Tethe'alla Episode, and three in The United World Episode. Like the anime version of Tales of the Abyss, the Tales of Symphonia OVA is a fairly faithful adaptation of the work, and does not include much in ways of original developments. The episodes have English subtitles as well, so an international audience can enjoy them. Tales animated adaptations have not always been the most faithful to the source material. Ufotable's Zestiria X included some alterations to the story at the expense of certain characters, for example. Eternia straight up did not even adapt the game, focusing instead on an original story and original characters. Phantasia also only adapted about half of the game. The Tales of Symphonia OVAs are available for free via YouTube with English subtitles. You can play the game Tales of Symphonia on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 11:45 AM In the main Fire Emblem Engage campaign, you can use the Pact Ring to see Alear romance certain characters, and that carries over to the Fell Xenologue DLC units as well. An S-rank support can be reached with all five people. However, depending on the person, it may or may not be a very romantic conversation. Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC below.Upon completing the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue campaign, Gregory, Madeline, Nel, Rafal, and Zelestia become members of your army and characters you can "romance" in the main storyline. Of those five, the Gregory, Nel, Rafal, and Zelestia S-rank conversations all have romantic overtones and feature the characters wearing the Pact Ring on their ring fingers. With Madeline, the conversation indicates a bond, but isn't romantic. How to romance the Fire Emblem Engage DLC charactersIf you want to quickly pair Alear up with one of the newcomers, your best bet is to use Pretty Pebbles and Spirit Gems. These are both items you can find randomly around the Somniel. They're guaranteed to increase affection with the person you give it to, with the Spirit Gem being the more powerful of the two. Once Gregory, Madeline, Nel, Rafal, and Zelestia move in, give as many of them as possible to them to unlock conversations. However, know going in that you still need to have the Pact Ring to "romance" one of them. Fire Emblem Engage is available for the Nintendo Switch, as is the Fell Xenologue DLC. Siliconera Wednesday, April 5, 2023 10:30 AM When Donkey Kong 64 released, Grant Kirkhope and George Andreas created the song "DK Rap" for it. However, The Super Mario Bros Movie credits don't properly attribute the "DK Rap" to them. Instead, Kirkhope and reports from people who saw the movie show the credits only list it as being from the game, with no details about who composed or performed it. Here's Grant Kirkhope's tweet that confirmed The Super Mario Bros Movie doesn't include his name as composer for the "DK Rap" in the credits.
Multiple people came forward with photographic proof of the credits. Koi Games Co-owner James Burt shared NintendoFanGirl's picture. GameXplain Editor-in-Chief and Founder AndreSegers did so as well.
Ahead of The Super Mario Bros Movie launch, the inclusion of the song was teased. The official Twitter account for the film shared a video of Seth Rogan, who plays Donkey Kong, discussing it and offering commentary on the song's original video. You will no longer be able to purchase items in the shop from May 8, 2023. [Thanks, Famitsu!] There is not a lot of information on the official webpage for Gundam Breaker Mobile in regards to why it will shut down. It thanks all of the players that have supported and played the game since its debut before revealing the roadmap until its closure. While the shop will close on May 8, you will still be able to use any Haro Chips that you've previously purchased until the game officially shuts down. Gundam Breaker is a PS3 and PS Vita game that focuses on Gunpla rather than the mobile suits that you see on the shows. You can defeat other units and essentially cannibalize their parts to create your own unique mobile suit. This is the mobage version of that game, with basically the same features and gameplay. Gundam Breaker Mobile will no longer be playable from June 5, 2023. Until then, it is available on mobile devices. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, April 5, 2023 11:33 AM Patch 6.38 mainly focused on physically transferring the North American Data Centers to new hardware, but the bulk of the update is focused on rebalancing PvP again, mainly Crystalline Conflict. What classes got nerfed and buffed, and what other minor adjustments were made? Here's FFXIV Patch 6.38, explained. FFXIV Patch 6.38: PvP changes First of all, the time for the crystal to unbind in Crystalline Conflict matches dropped down to 20 seconds from 30. This means less time to KO the other team ahead of the push, but matches are even shorter as a result. For a mode centered around being short, that seems like an improvement. This means the soundtracks for Crystalline Conflict maps will be adjusted. The Clockwork Castletown map in Crystalline Conflict changed a little. The chances of triggering a second pneumatic parade increased. Have fun with that. Season five of Crystalline Conflict is over, and now it's on to season six until patch 6.4.
