A climate apocalypse looms in this new base building survival game

The reveal for apocalyptic base-building survival game Chimera paints a stark future for humanity. Among the streets of a futuristic city, loud beeps flash from the on-arm readout of its inhabitants. "Warning: Extreme Temperature," reads the display. A group of people look solemnly up to the sky as a giant, low-hanging sun crackles with intense heat. Light and flames wash over the group, screams heard ringing out beyond the roar. A barren, burnt wasteland remains, before fresh life begins to grow anew - this is the world of Chimera.

Each Starfield character creation option explained

Want to know more about the Starfield character creation system? Starfield makes it easy to design diverse characters due to the way it handles skin tones and body types. In the latest Starfield Direct, Felipe Nogueira, lead tech artist at Bethesda explained how the character generation system was overhauled using a range of faces from different age groups and ethnicities, making it easy to create "highly detailed and diverse" characters.

This makes it possible to build characters that weren't possible in Bethesda's older RPG games, which should mean a greater variety of NPCs across the space game, too. In addition to your character's appearance, you also need to consider their Starfield traits to give your character some personality and different skills. Here's everything you need to know about the Starfield character creation system.

PowerA Moga XP-Ultra Wireless Controller review

Picking the perfect PC controller isn't as easy as it once was, but the PowerA Moga XP-Ultra Wireless Controller is an attempt to solve a very modern problem.

Back in the day, you might have two different gaming systems – usually a PC and a console. Microsoft made this one easy to solve, as the best Xbox controllers are cross-compatible with PCs. But what about a pad that also works with the cloud? Your phone? Your smart TV?

The PowerA Moga XP-Ultra Wireless Controller promises to be the one best PC controller pad to rule them all. In theory, you can start playing on your console, go from the couch to the cloud by picking up on your phone, then get to someone else's house and resume playing on a PC or even a compatible smart TV.

It's a controller built for all eventualities, then – something that is echoed by its modular design. The pad includes an attachable phone mount, turning your handset into a handheld, and it also features detachable grips, reducing the footprint for playing on the go or giving you an option if you prefer the size of old-school controllers.

As promised, Bethesda gave us an extended look at Starfield this evening as part of a dedicated presentation attatched to Microsoft's larger not-E3 showcase. Alongside a fresh look at the game's 1000 planets, combat and skill trees, we were given a closer peek at arguably the most important part of the whole game: its character creator.

Described as the "simplest character creator" the team have ever made, Starfield will let you dig into the finer details of your space captain's face, right down to their teeth for reasons I can't quite work out yet. An improvement on the creators found in previous Bethesda games, there's nothing here that looks particularly innovative compared to other open-world games of this ilk. What's interesting is that this time around, the team have used the in-game tool to create every last one of Starfield's NPCs.

"So why go this big with Starfield?" asks Bethesda Softworks' lead landscape artist Matt Carofano at the beginning of a segment in tonight's Starfield Direct. "Because we want to give you freedom on a galactic level," is the unsatisfying response.

Starfield features over 1000 planets to visit, each procedurally generated upon your approach but populated with handcrafted elements. Your "freedom" upon landing on these planets - many of which seem near-barren - is whether you spend your time doing some quests, 'surveying' the local flora and fauna, or shooting rocks with your space laser.

Final fantasy xvi demo release date Torgal plush

Square Enix announced a demo release date at the Final Fantasy XVI pre-launch celebration. It will debut on June 12, 2023. Save data will carry over to the full game. The event also revealed PlatinumGames worked on the title. So did Creative Business Unit 1, the Square Enix developer that normally works on Kingdom Hearts games. Finally, Torgal stuffed animals are coming in 2024.

With the Final Fantasy XVI demo, there will be two parts. The first is a prologue portion. This will be a cutscene-heavy section that lasts about two hours. You can save in it, and that will carry over to a retail copy of the game. There is also a special battle demo in this trial. That only unlocks once the prologue is complete. That will apparently also give people a chance to see Clive use extra Eikon abilities in battle beyond the ones he uses earlier in the game.

Here's the exact release date timing for the Final Fantasy XVI demo in various regions.

Persona 5 Tactica Game Phantom Thieves PalacePersona fans have quite a bit of new content to anticipate after the Xbox Games Showcase that aired today. Atlus already catered to fans' Persona cravings with the announcement of Persona 3 Reload, a substantial remake of a revered entry in the series. But Atlus soon followed up that game announcement with the reveal of Persona 5 Tactica, the latest in a line of spinoffs related to Persona 5. As the name suggests, Persona 5 Tactica eschews the standard turn-based RPG combat seen across the series in favor of a grid-based tactical gameplay system. So in other words, those who love games like Fire Emblem may find something to latch onto here. As the reveal trailer immediately makes apparent, Persona 5 Tactica changes more than just the gameplay style. This time around, the Phantom Thieves and other characters from Persona 5 sport a new chibi look that contrasts with the more traditional anime look adopted by most of the series' entries.      Persona 3 Reload Remake Junpei IoriIf you have enjoyed many of the recent Persona installments but haven't yet experienced Persona 3, you will soon get another major opportunity to do just that. At today's Xbox showcase, Atlus put out a trailer unveiling a brand-new remake of Persona 3, dubbed Persona 3 Reload. As fans of the series probably would have expected, Persona 3 Reload reinterprets the original game's locations and characters using an altered version of the visual style from Persona 5. Considering that Persona 5 received hefty praise for its stylized aesthetic, this seems like a no-brainer direction for a Persona 3 remake to go in. The official web page for Persona 3 Reload briefly goes over the story and key features of this remake. Like in the original, players assume the role of a transfer student who has to deal with a phenomenon called the "Dark Hour," referring to "the hour 'hidden' between one day and the next."
