Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 5:16 PM Strategy games—of all persuasions, I'm not just talking about armies on a map—aren't usually the stars of big gaming shows, because they tend to be more sedate affairs, not well-suited to blockbuster trailers and breathless announcements. Over the last week, however, I have seen a lot of very promising ones announced… |

Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 4:55 PM I mean, it was only a matter of time, right? Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 3:30 PM I came into my demo for Remnant II at Summer Game Fest with zero expectations. I didn't play the original game and only knew it as "Dark Souls with guns." Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 3:10 PM While many of the quippy jokes and tangential references in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse landed with moviegoers, one particular blink-and-you'll-miss-it gag managed to swing its way right over some viewers' heads. Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 1:45 PM Grand Theft Auto Online's latest update, San Andreas Mercenaries, adds new missions and quality-of-life changes to the aging online game. Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 1:13 PM Overwatch 2 is getting its ass beat online lately and for good reason. Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 11:41 AM The last time we wrote about Titanfall 3 on this website was April 2023, which really, isn't that long ago. Kotaku Wednesday, June 14, 2023 11:35 AM If the inferno of Diablo IV's normal gameplay isn't enough for those who are a little more hardened, players can subject themselves to an extra-special level of hell by opting to play in "hardcore" mode. PCGamesN Wednesday, June 14, 2023 5:42 PM Star Citizen has had its fair share of controversy, but most of it almost always boils down to how much money the space game's developers have taken from prospective players in the name of its production. Waiting over ten years of development for any game at all has left backers of the giant project unsatisfied. With little to no solid progress and no launch date in sight, it is no wonder then that many of us have been left wondering what exactly is going on with Star Citizen. Well, it turns out that the game has cashed in quite the check, spending more on its development than a variety of triple-A games have... combined. PCGamesN Wednesday, June 14, 2023 4:17 PM The best Steam Deck cases will keep your precious gaming PC safe and sound while traveling, and protect it from scratches and drops. Valve does include an official carrying case with orders of its gaming PC, but this won't necessarily cover all of your needs. That's why we've handpicked a selection of cases for Steam Deck below, using our years of gaming experience to help you find the best choice. While assembling our list, we looked at materials, protection, durability, price, and extra features to determine which Steam Deck case we think is best for any given purpose – be it traveling, extra storage, or saving precious space in your bag. To find a case for your needs, start by thinking about where and how you use your handheld. If you value protection over anything else, you'll want a hard carrying case like the JSAUX Carrying Case in our number one spot. If you want to carry your Steam Deck around on the go, tomtoc's Arccos Steam Deck Travel bag is ideal. Bags and hard Steam Deck carrying cases also give you room to store important Steam Deck accessories like the best MicroSD cards in one place, unlike the best Steam Deck skins that wrap around your device. Although not cases in a traditional sense, we've also included a Steam Deck skin at the bottom of this guide, as these are a low-cost way to protect your device. Whatever case you choose, you'll also want the best Steam Deck accessories and the best Steam Deck Dock to get the most out of your handheld gaming PC. PCGamesN Wednesday, June 14, 2023 11:39 AM What are Diablo 4 runes and runewords? The feature is one Diablo fans will recognize, the idea being that you could combine individual runes into runewords and insert them into socketed items, adding to their powers and abilities. But with no runes in Diablo 4 just yet, we - like you - are eager to know whether they're coming, so we asked the devs, of course. We know that D2's beloved runeword system was not available in Diablo 4 at launch, and won't be for some time - but that doesn't mean they're not making their way to the game in the future. Whichever of the five Diablo 4 classes you choose, runes would be combined and added to your items, just like gems, to increase their abilities. PCGamesN Wednesday, June 14, 2023 11:38 AM Want to know what this week's Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon is? Each week you've got a chance at a different weapon for completing Nightfall Strikes, and ever since Season of the Lost, fan-favourite legacy weapons from the original Destiny has been added to the rotation. New seasons often introduce new weapons into the rotation, so it's more important than ever to know in advance the Nightfall weapon schedule. Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist available in the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike playlist in the free PC game. Each week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall, and offered in five escalating difficulties, with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and enemy power levels cranking up. The coveted Nightfall weapons have a chance to drop from any Nightfall Strike difficulty, but it's far more likely at higher levels. Your best bet for farming each week's Nightfall weapon is to set the Strike to Grandmaster difficulty when such strikes are available if you have a fireteam up to the task. PCGamesN Wednesday, June 14, 2023 11:28 AM What is the best Diablo 4 Sorcerer build? The last mainline iteration of the series saw the Sorcerer excel as an angry ball of lightning, crashing through rifts with nary a thought as to how they'd escape a situation should their mana bleed dry. The best Diablo 4 sorcerer build recognizes that historic power, channeling it into something new yet entirely familiar. If you're hoping to ignore the class's traditionally low durability and dive straight into countless life-or-death situations, you'd best make sure every single talent point is in the right place. And to make subsequent Diablo 4 playthroughs easier, we have the best Diablo 4 Druid, Barbarian, Necromancer, and Rogue builds as well. Siliconera Wednesday, June 14, 2023 3:00 PM As a reminder to those who may not know, the chat function in Honkai: Star Rail is now live. This was one of the promised new features in Version 1.1, but it was not immediately available at launch. Some people may have noticed the option in their friends lists after the patch update that introduced the Everwinter City Museum Ledger of Curiosities event. You can only chat with people on your Honkai: Star Rail friends list. To do so, simply open up your Friends menu and click on the button on the very right. It should look like a speech bubble. After that, it'll open up a menu for you to speak to them. Currently, it is still very bare-bones. You can literally only send text messages. But since you can send stickers to game characters, as well as receive them, it's likely that HoYoVerse will add in characters stickers in later update. It's something that is possible in Genshin Impact, after all. Other new things on the horizon for Version 1.1 include the playable debuts of Luocha and Yukong. Both the Silver Wolf and museum events are still live, and we will still have a Ley Line Overflow-like event to come. The Companion Quests for Luocha, Bailu, and Yanqing will likely appear in the second half of the update. Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on mobile devices and Windows PC. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development. The post Reminder: You Can Chat With Friends in Honkai: Star Rail appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, June 14, 2023 2:30 PM Blue Protocol has been available in Japan for less than a day, and it is already running into issues. Throughout the day, the server went down due to issues such as server load, as well as problems with payment. As of the time of writing, the Blue Protocol server is still down for emergency maintenance and further updates will come at 4am JST. The problems started earlier in the day on June 14, 2023. The game was supposed to launch at noon, but a detected issue caused a delay. Bandai Namco also had to shut the site down for emergency maintenance. The game officially launched at 1:10 PM with little issue on the server's end, but players experienced difficulties logging in due to the usage of Bandai Namco IDs. In order to log in and play the game, players needed to use Bandai Namco IDs. According to Blue Protocol's website, this caused stress on the Bandai Namco IDs' server, which necessitated emergency maintenance. Blue Protocol also had to go down as a result of that. There were also issues with payment in the Regnas Shop, which the current maintenance is trying to resolve. Blue Protocol is available on Windows PCs in Japan. It will come out later on the PS4 and PS5. The worldwide release will come out in 2024. As of the time of writing, you cannot access Blue Protocol due to server maintenance. Siliconera Wednesday, June 14, 2023 2:00 PM To go along with the airing of the Oshi no Ko "B-Komachi" episode, the official videos for Kana Arima's "Pepper Workout" and "Full Moon" songs appeared. Both featured prominently in the character's life or in the show. For example, both of the tracks appeared as insert songs during the episode, with one being a part of the character's history. First, here's Kana performing "Pepper Workout" as a child in Oshi no Ko. Rather than a full-time gig, it is an exercise video sort of thing for children. The song and brief clip repeats multiple times over the course of the video, to bulk the length up to about a full minute. Megumi Han, the character's voice actress, is noted as the performer for it. Next, here's "Kana" performing "Full Moon" in Oshi no Ko. It's a slightly longer song, coming in at over a minute and a half. It is closer to being done in the style of an actual music video. Finally, here's the new key visual from the episode. It features the new B-Komachi, which consists of Kana, MemCHO, and Ruby.
Oshi no Ko is streaming on HiDIVE, and Yen Press is handling the localization of the manga outside Japan. The post Oshi no Ko Kana 'Pepper Workout' and 'Full Moon' Videos Shared appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, June 14, 2023 1:30 PM The latest episode of Masahiro Sakurai's YouTube channel about making games actually involves him showing how Family BASIC worked. This was a Famicom peripheral and tool for creation, and Sakurai explained how critical it was to his own career and decisions to get into gaming. For the presentation, he actually offers an overview of the software and shows how it works in practice. Here's the new "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games" video about Family BASIC. It begins by him saying how he got into developing because of experience with it and shows his copy. He noted that he repainted the keyboard personally. After explaining how it works, he shows how it would work. He also showed how there was a "Hello" function that allowed it to "tell your fortune." The primary function is Game Basic, which is used for creating games by going into BASIC or BG Graphic. He also noted it is Hu-BASIC, referencing Hudson developed for Sharp and that was used here. He then actually writes some code and shows how the background creation worked. He ended up showing how the cartridge actually had a AA battery backup. He brought up the data recorder peripheral as well. In the meantime, similar sorts of game creation software still exist. For example, SmileBASIC appeared on the 3DS and Wii U. In the past, Masahiro Sakurai used his channel to talk about creating other games, such as Kirby titles and Meteos. Siliconera Wednesday, June 14, 2023 10:00 AM Atlus has updated its guidelines for Persona 5 Royal to allow for the content from the entire game to appear in videos or streams. Prior to June 14, 2023, it did not allow creators to upload content from the third semester. That would have been all content past the in-game December. There will be no patch to remove the in-game lock on recording anything past the third semester. If you're playing on the PS4, for example, you cannot use the PS4's existing recording or screenshot functions from January in Persona 5 Royal. This is because the game itself restricts the players from doing so. Since Atlus won't patch it out, you'll have to use a capture card or something similar to record scenes from the third semester. Other guidelines for streaming or making content with Persona 5 Royal remain the same. You have to tag content that would count as spoilers with a spoiler warning, and you must display both Atlus and Sega's copyrights. Atlus also does not allow videos of just the soundtrack, nor does it allow content that slanders other parties, including other players. As well, you cannot upload your videos to a site that has a paywall. Persona 5 Royal is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. Streamers and creators can now include content from the entire game on their channels. The post Atlus Updates Persona 5 Royal Streaming Guidelines appeared first on Siliconera. |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, June 14, 2023 5:44 PM The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes place in a version of Hyrule very much like the one that appeared in Breath of the Wild. A lot of locations are the same, or have barely changed. Some of them aren't as important as they were the last time around, but it's not like they're gone completely. Here's a guide telling you what to do at Lover's Pond in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the Kingdom – what to do at Lover's Pond Lover's Pond is the sort of place that demands a closer inspection. It is a pond shaped just like a heart, and it even appears as one on the world map. Look for it high atop Tuft Mountain, just about due west from Lurelin Village and southwest from Sifumim Shrine. I like to fast travel to that shrine, then hike to the southwest to get there most quickly. Screenshot by PC Invasion In Breath of the Wild, Lover's Pond played a definite role. These can range from simple armor pieces that only raise your defense, to armor pieces that have different resistances to heat or cold, and more.
