PCGamesN Tuesday, March 19, 2024 5:12 PM Acer's Predator GD711 is the latest in the company's long line of solid gaming projectors. Unlike some of its H and X series siblings (all of which are more designed for casual filmgoers) the Acer Predator, as its name suggests, is tuned around the gaming market. It treads a fine line incorporating features you'd typically find on a top-tier gaming monitor, with the best tech the projector market has to offer. It might sound odd at first, (particularly given the high refresh rate OLED monitors and TVs that are available out there today), but the best gaming projectors can keep up and provide a top-tier gaming experience, across consoles and PC. It's certainly something worth experiencing, particularly if you're curious about the medium. Of course, it's not going to be quite as potent as those top-tier units, and there are very few products out there capable of hitting the heady frame rates and response times of some of the best gaming monitors without breaking into the four-figure price front, but if you're a casual gamer playing a bit of everything, and have the space, and not performing at a competitive level, then a good gaming projector is the place to be. Now I've been testing monitors, projectors, and panels from all walks of life for the last eight years or so, and have even worked behind the scenes providing feedback on particular units. So I can say without a doubt that Acer's Predator GD711 is a confusing unit. Why? Well simply put, it's the price tag and availability of this thing that gives the most pause for thought. With limited availability in the US and a $1200-1400 price tag (£1,200 in the UK), it's a big investment to put down for the spec. Let me explain why. PCGamesN Tuesday, March 19, 2024 3:20 PM One of the biggest drawbacks with the way games currently render 3D scenes is that there's still a surprising amount of back and forth communication required between the CPU and GPU. This overhead can slow down graphics card processing in a multitude of ways. However, a new technique demonstrated by AMD has managed to massively reduce this, boosting performance by 1.64x with without any extra processing power required. The technique was demonstrated on an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, the best graphics card you can currently buy for workloads without ray tracing, but this technique doesn't require such a high-end GPU. This new industry obsession is still taking shape, and there are lots of questions still to be answered about how much it might cost in the future, who will have access to it, and what it will actually help with, not to mention fears about job losses and other harms. But there's a bigger question bubbling underneath all of this that threatens to burst the wobbly generative AI bubble: is the entire boom built on stolen labour? |

The Dragon Ball Super manga will reportedly go on a hiatus after the release of chapter 103 on March 20, 2024. The hiatus has seemingly no relation with Dragon Ball author Akira Toriyama's passing on March 1, 2024. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]
As reported by leaker ryokutya2089, it seems like this hiatus won't limit to the Dragon Ball Super manga, and instead the V Jump magazine where the series is published will go on a temporary hiatus. The latest Dragon Ball Super manga chapters have served as a sort of epilogue to the adaptation of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime movie, and concluded on the last issue.
The Dragon Ball Super manga started serialization on June 20, 2015, and was penned by the late Akira Toriyama and drawn by artist Toyotaro. Meanwhile, the Super anime series aired in Japan between July 2015 and March 2018. The series received two movies Dragon Ball Super: Broly on December 2018, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero on June 2022.
A new anime series titled Dragon Ball Daima is set to release in Japan sometime during the Fall 2024 season, and it will follow the cast of the series after being turned to children and stripped of most of their powers.
The Dragon Ball Super manga will go on an indefinite hiatus from March 20, 2024. Viz Media handles the English release of the manga. The Dragon Ball Super anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The Pokemon Center announced that its next major stuffed animal will again be its giant Pikachu plush. Pre-orders are open ahead of its September 2024 return.
This particular Pikachu is over two feet tall. Including the ear-span, it ends up standing at almost 27 inches. This means it is taller than an "actual" Pikachu, as the in-game Pokedexes tend to say those are a little over a foot tall. It is in a sitting position, with its tail affixed at the back to help hold it in place. It does end up costing $199.99, as a result of its size.
Here's a closer look at this extra large Pikachu stuffed animal from the official Pokemon Center product page's photos.
This particular plush often returns to the storefront. It first appeared in 2019. Since then, it tended to appear about every year or so.
It isn't uncommon for the Pokemon Center to sell life-size or giant versions of familiar characters. In the past, extra large versions of Pokemon like Altaria, Lucario, Psyduck, and Slowpoke showed up. They also often returned for second runs.
The jumbo Pikachu plush will return to the Pokemon Center sometime after the middle of September 2024, though no exact date has been set yet.

Konami Amusement has revealed a new rhythm game that will appear in arcade centers titled Polaris Chord. It will release the new game across Japan in late March 2024.
The new arcade game's cabinet will feature a wide gameplay screen with an array of buttons that correspond with the playing area. At first glance, it may look similar to Sega's Chunithm series. But in lieu of motion tracking cameras, Polaris Chord will distinguish itself with a pair of Fader devices that the player must slide horizontally at certain points during gameplay. The cabinet will also have an additional vertical screen that shows the game's characters.
Characters will play a major role in this new arcade rhythm game. The player will choose a Contenter as the main character and four Support Snap characters, whose skills will provide various assists during gameplay. Characters will gain experience and eventually level up as the player deploys them in gameplay stages. Contenters will also have an additional affection level that will gradually change their behaviors.
Polaris Chord will have 49 songs available at launch. The list will mostly consist of licensed songs. They will range from anime theme songs like YOASOBI's Oshi no Ko opening theme "Idol" to Vocaloid and Vtuber songs. The latter will include songs from Hololive Vtubers Minato Aqua and Tsunomaki Watame, as well as Houshou Marine and COOL&CREATE's collaborative Touhou album #GENSOKYOholoism.

The first of the new Splatoon 3 songs is a reworked version of Off the Hook classic "Color Pulse". This version features new instrumentation, including a disco style guitar and slap bass. The second song is titled "We're So Back", a bouncy pop song that features Marina playing a keytar.
These new songs will play in the new Inkopolis Square hub area, which can now be unlocked through the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC. Nintendo confirmed that clearing the Spire of Order will allow players to access the new hub, which originally appeared in Splatoon 2. This is a separate hub from Inkopolis Plaza, which appeared during Wave 1 of the game's DLC, and is based on the hub area from the first Splatoon on the Wii U.
The songs will debut during the Splatfest held during March 22-24, 2024. This is another regional Splatfest. Japanese players are battling for best flavor of potato chips, as part of a promotional deal with Calbee. The idea of an Emanator character has come up in Honkai: Star Rail since launch, and HoYoVerse explained what one is and how a person becomes one. It also listed a few of the known and established Emanators in the world, though nothing was spoiled when that happened.
In short, an Emanator in Honkai: Star Rail is an emissary of an Aeon who can tap into their powers and be stronger than usual, even though they started out as an otherwise ordinary person. How someone becomes one varies based on the Aeon and their personality, which determines if they pick one, make it happen, or just don't even influence if someone does or doesn't become one.
Here's the list of Emanators that HoYoVerse discussed in its official announcement.
We'll soon learn even more about how an Emanator works in Honkai: Star Rail. The Penacony Trailblaze Missions are dealing with the topic a bit. The next ones show up in 2.1 later this month. That's also when the Acheron and Luocha banners will appear in the game.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the 2.1 update will arrive on March 27, 2024.

First, there were a number of changes to help improve the experience for certain Raids and Trials in FFXIV, as well as some adjustments to make things easier to find. Here's a list going over some of the changes in the patch notes.
In addition, people will have an easier time getting Divine Solvent. The Radz-at-Han NPC Nesvaaz now sells it for Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thaleia Coins. You'll find the person at X:10.6 Y:10.0.
As for the Paladin, five actions in FFXIV changed according to the patch notes for 6.58. Here are the exact alterations, according to Square Enix:
There's also a debuff in effect for the Dancer. Honing Ovation's attack and barrier potency is decreased by 1,000 for Acclaim stacks. So for example, before if it was 2,000, now it will be 1,000. Or if you had five stacks and it was 6,000 before, it will be 5,000 now.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. The FFXIV Xbox Series X version will launch on March 21, 2024. Dawntrail will arrive in Summer 2024, with more news on that coming at PAX East 2024.
