PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 11:41 AM What are the best Elden Ring builds? The first 20 levels shape your entire class, so selecting your stats carefully is essential. PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 11:38 AM What are the best JRPGs? This genre is, nowadays, at least, subtly different from Western RPGs, and while the genre as a whole has evolved since the early days, it tends to keep the emphasis on its two key tropes: long stories with memorable characters, and lots of grinding. Some of the newer games on this list abandon traditional fantasy in favor of a more realistic setting. However, the classic style, at least when we think of JRPGs, conjures up images of mages, ferocious monsters, and a top-down perspective. Either way, these JRPGs bring a different flavor than what you can expect from the best RPGs in the West and could be considered some of the best PC games to fans of the genre. PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 11:31 AM I think Dying Light 2 is about to join the pantheon of videogame comeback stories, up there alongside Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky, and Final Fantasy 14. When it launched back in 2022, the zombie FPS faced criticism owing to the fact it was a little too easy, a little too streamlined, and just less substantial than its beloved predecessor. Over the past two years, however, Techland has turned the parkour-driven survival RPG around. The gigantic new Dying Light 2 update represents the next chapter in an impressive redemption tale. It transforms the shooter into a brutal roguelike, and you can try it for yourself today. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Dying Light 2 review, Dying Light 2 factions, Best zombie games |

PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 11:17 AM What are the best turn based RPGs? These games are about character evolution; the nature of progression and the choices you can make means that your abilities and journey may never entirely be the same across multiple playthroughs. They're also about offering robust combat mechanics and making the best use of your squad as a team working towards a common goal. While this list may have a lot in common with our guide to the best RPG games, turn-based RPGs tend to focus more on squad-based combat and have roots in the classic tabletop RPGs of old. Games in this niche are often similar to turn-based strategy games, though to make the distinction relevant, we're focusing on games with more pronounced RPG features. PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 11:01 AM When is the Marvel Rivals beta? It's an odd time for anything with superheroes. PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 9:45 AM When you think of the best roguelikes on PC, you might consider action games like Dead Cells, Hades, or Risk of Rain. Or perhaps you lean towards the deckbuilders of the world such as Balatro and Slay the Spire. But all of these could arguably be considered 'roguelites' instead. The distinction between the definitions was once a hot topic, but over time it's become less frequently discussed. PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 9:10 AM It can be hard to find a PC gaming graphics card at a low price these days, but however low your budget is, we thoroughly recommend staying away from the new Asus Radeon RX 6500 XT Dual OC V2 that's just come out. Not only is it based on a GPU that's now two and half years old, but this GPU stank even back then. Asus makes some of the best graphics cards you can buy right now, and I particularly like the quiet and powerful coolers on its latest ROG Strix cards, even if they're a bit overpriced. PCGamesN Thursday, June 27, 2024 8:42 AM What are the best indie games? The great indie boom triggered by digital distribution a decade ago turned out to be more of a Big Bang, firing small-team development into a plethora of directions that now defy simple categorisation. But we should take stock, from time to time, to appreciate everything publisher-less development has given us. Some of the games listed below were built in a weekend by first-time coders, while others were crafted by former triple-A creators who've instilled their independent work with the same technical standards. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, June 27, 2024 11:36 AM Besides giving The First Descendant the ol' benchy marks on desktop, I was curious to see how this gleaming looter shooter would run on the less flexing hardware of the Steam Deck. The answer: it didn't, at first. Luckily, a semi-quick fix was enough to get me in, where I found a game that for all its ray tracing inclinations, is comfortable with life on the Deck. Reasonably. Most of the time. With any luck, my issue could be purged completely by the time The First Descendant releases on July 2nd. Partly because I was using a technically non-final preview build, and partly because the problem itself was a silly one: launching was blocked by a case of missing Visual C++, something that the Steam Deck's Proton compatibility witchcraft usually takes care of. Come on, Proton lad, you're kinda dropping the ball here. If this ever happens to you, in The First Descendant or any other game, I heartily recommend YouTuber JD Ros' video tutorial on fixing it. The method boils down to installing the latest C++ versions via the Steam Deck's Desktop Mode, then adding their executables to the game's launch options. This worked a treat for me, and I didn't suffer any further compatibility headaches from there on out. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, June 27, 2024 10:35 AM To start a modern Atlus game is to dive headfirst into an ice-cold bath of unbearably swish UI design, a brimming tub of Cool Fonts and Flash Segues. Metaphor: ReFantazio, the first (going by the colon usage) in a new series of RPGs helmed by Persona series director Katsura Hashino, is no exception. It might be set in a medieval fantasy realm, a relatively straight-laced world of square masonry and parchment maps, but it portrays bread-and-butter RPG fixtures with much the same flair as its strutting high school cousin. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, June 27, 2024 8:39 AM When the ageing, silent character you play in puzzle adventure Selfloss performs a roll, it is a tumble of such poignant melancholy I spent the first five minutes of my time with its Steam demo just keeling about in the starting area. It's a ponderous, pained roll, creaky and ancient. If it has i-frames, the 'i' stands for "I would like to not do that again for at least five minutes, please." Each time you roll, or sprint, your character wipes beads of sweat from his brow, and you can tell the exertion is genuinely taxing. My man is exhausted. Also, surrounded by fish, both symbolic and literal. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, June 27, 2024 7:26 AM I mentioned it briefly in my Shadow Of The Erdtree review, but there's one area of the DLC where your steed Torrent is so scared they refuse to be summoned. That's because said area is a woodland that's been steeped in shadow and chaos for so long, large goats don't dare clop their hooves. What I hadn't expected was that relying on my own two trotters would be so... revelatory. It's made me reconsider exploration in Elden Ring's open world, and conclude that using Torrent as a taxi service contributes to a feeling of disconnection. |

In a post ominously titled "Tribes 3 Player Update", Prophecy first announced that anyone who'd paid up microtransaction money in Rivals – as well as their previous game, extraction shooter Starsiege: Deadzone – would receive an equal amount of credit to spend in their upcoming "sports shooter" Ultra Strikers. Then, the bitter chaser: both Deadzone and Tribes 3 will go on the backburner, while Ultra Strikers becomes the studio's main effort. |

As for the Arena, where players can have their Pals duel for supremacy, you'll find it in the Dessicated Desert. Catch a glimpse of all the wanton Pokenot abuse in the below trailer. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, June 27, 2024 5:31 AM Live service games such as The First Descendant - a Warframe-ish co-op looter shooter coming next month - can often suffer from a chronic case of numbers-itis, a tragic and goopy disease that stagnates game feel, letting raw and tasteless maths multiply and overwhelm what I, in all my critical wisdom, call "fun button pushy." Developer NEXON Games were kind enough to answer a few of my questions recently, and most of all, I wanted to know how they'd immunised their endgame against this miserable ailment. The aim, NEXON tell me, is in motivating players to try out different approaches to combat rather than relying on flat progression. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, June 27, 2024 5:26 AM Hades 2's third early access patch is of the gargantuan variety. It improves Olympian Boons, adds lots of new UI icons, reworking Keepsakes, and basically touches every aspect of the game you could possibly think of. One thing it doesn't change is how sexy the gods are, but because they're so sexy anyway, I don't think that's an issue moving forwards. |

There's a new Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero trailer, and it features looks at a slightly older Marona, Ash, and new Phantom Apricot. The video also introduces the set-up for the sequel and explains what we'll be dealing with as we go through the game.
The video begins by showing the slightly older Marona, who's grown up a bit since the first Phantom Brave, as she and Ash are on a ship journeying in The Lost Hero. After a Ghost Fleet led by a masked pirate attacks, she's separated from him. It's then that she meets the Phantom Apricot, who also has a pirate theme due to being the daughter of a legendary one. As both are looking for someone, with Marona searching for Ash and Apricot trying to find her father, the two build up a crew and prepare to set sail to fight the phantom pirates.
At the 1:50 mark, the trailer gets into gameplay. It goes over elements like the Confine system, which lets Marona turn Phantoms into physical fighters by binding them to real-world items. This also lets us see new character types, like the Sea Angel, as well as returning ones such as the Archer, Fighter, Healer, and Wizard. The new Confining method also shows how Marona can transform by Confining one of her Phantoms to herself.
Here's the new Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero trailer. It ends with a peek at an antagonist that looks like Ash named Grey.
Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in 2025.

KLab has released the Xbox version of Bleach: Brave Souls worldwide. The game is available as a free-to-play title for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via Microsoft Store. It supports subtitles in four languages: Japanese, English, French, and Traditional Chinese.
The company has also started offering new free and paid item packs exclusively to players who start playing the game on the Xbox consoles. It is also holding new missions and login bonuses for players in other existing platforms to help celebrate the new Xbox releases.
This new release followed KLab's prior announcement in late May 2024. Other than Xbox platforms, the company also made a promise to release the game on Nintendo Switch. The latter is still not yet available as of this release. But once it has come out, KLab will have succeeded in bringing the free-to-play game to all ongoing major gaming platforms.
KLab's Japanese press release noted that the Xbox and Switch versions support cross-play with other existing platforms, such as PCs and mobile devices. However, it does not support Multi-Device, which means that players in the existing platforms cannot carry over their accounts to the new platforms.
Bleach: Brave Souls is readily available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in addition to Android, iOS, PC, and PlayStation 4. KLab will also release a Nintendo Switch version of the game in the near future.

Netmarble has announced that it will shut down The King of Fighters Allstar simultaneously worldwide at the end of October 2024. The mobile game will no longer be available in Japan on October 31, 2024, at 11 AM JST, and in the Americas on October 30, 2024, at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]
The company launched the mobile game first in Japan in July 2018. It later released the game globally in English in October 2019. The King of Fighters Allstar will have a total lifespan of around six years and four months from its initial Japanese release.
The game's development team published a note explaining the decision to shut down the online-exclusive title. It cited a difficulty in maintaining gameplay balance for the numerous characters available in the game, which include crossover characters from other franchises.
Netmarble had previously added many crossover characters from external titles like Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive, and Gintama. It had even included real-world WWE wrestlers, such as John Cena and The Undertaker.
The King of Fighters Allstar is available worldwide on Android and iOS mobile devices until October 30 or 31, 2024, depending on the regions' time zones.

Netflix shared various One Piece season 2 live-action actors on social media as of late, and the latest reveals confirmed the identity of Smoker. The White Hunter appeared alongside another Marine and two people from Drum Island.
The two members of the One Piece Marines revealed in this live action actors announcement are Smoker and his subordinate Tashigi. Given the time at which things take place in the second season, he's likely just a captain at this point, while she'll probably be a petty officer. He's played by Callum Kerr, while Julia Rehwald is Tashigi.
As for the Drum Island representatives, they're King Wapol and his guard Dalton. Rob Colletti plays Tin Plate Wapol, while Ty Keogh is there to protect and assist him.
Here's the official announcement:
The reveal of Smoker in One Piece live-action season 2 is one of the biggest actor reveals so far. Previously a handful of Baroque Work members were revealed. However, we don't know who Miss All Sunday or Mr. 0 will be yet. However, we do know that Crocus will be Clive Russell, Dorry will be Werner Coetser, and Brogy will be Brendan Murray.
The first season of the One Piece live-action adaptation is on Netflix now, with season 2 on the way. The anime is on both Netflix and Crunchyroll. Viz Media handles the manga outside of Japan.

Type-Moon updated its streaming guidelines for Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon ahead of its official release, and it involves avoiding spoilers. To summarize, you can stream the entirety of Arcueid's route, but you can only stream the opening of Ciel's.
All of the guidelines are available on the official webpage and you can read them in English or Japanese. Except for the songs in the opening animation and Arcueid ending (which are under another company's copyright), you can stream all of the episodes in Arcueid's route until the opening of Ciel's. You cannot stream the 15-22 and 25th "Teach Me, Miss Ciel" segments, nor can you show any part of Ciel's route past her opening (including the ending credits).
For videos, you must add in some content such as commentary; in other words, you can't post the raw footage of the cutscenes. Other rules are similar to the streaming guidelines for games like Persona 5. You can't use third-party content without their permission, post content that might damage the credibility or reputation of people who worked on the game, illegally obtained content, or anything that could be considered morally offensive. Finally, make sure you include spoiler warnings when posting onto social media.
Here is the full list allowed and prohibited content with spoilers in the Tsukihime remake streaming guidelines:
Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon is the enhanced remake of Tsukihime, which came out in Japan in December 2000. It received several adaptations, such as an anime series, and a meta-sequel in Melty Blood. Tsukihime tells the story of Shiki Tohno, who gains the ability to see death lines after a near-fatal accident in his childhood. Other than this "defect," he manages to live a normal life as a high school up until a chance encounter with Arcueid drags him into the supernatural conflicts in his hometown of Souya.
Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon will come out on July 27, 2024 for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
