PCGamesN Saturday, August 3, 2024 4:33 AM While modern horror games are growing ever more elaborate, there's still something quite unnerving about that '90s 3D aesthetic. With classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil using the design and tech limitations of the time to create fear-inducing yet alluring low-polygon worlds, horror fans still hold that nascent era of classic horror gaming in high regard. Putting their keen eyes on nostalgia, the developers behind the upcoming Fear the Spotlight are hoping to craft an experience that captures that same sense of low-poly dread and unease, and from what I saw at Summer Game Fest, they're doing it pretty well. PCGamesN Saturday, August 3, 2024 3:00 AM It takes a while for Black Myth: Wukong's breakneck pacing and acrobatic combat to click. The start of my hands-on preview is decidedly graceless, as I repeatedly fumble dodge timings, struggle to retain my composure against its heavy-hitting enemies, and put in a performance comparable to my dismal first run of Demon's Souls way back in 2009. 15 years and dozens of soulslikes later, developer Game Science's debut arrives as a flashy and frenetic new contender, one that resembles combo-driven action games like Devil May Cry and the rebooted God of War series' epic fantasy yarns just as much as it does FromSoftware's modern classics. As of August 2, 2024, China's National Press and Publication Administration approved 15 new video games for import and publication. The report by Niko Partners, shared by Daniel "ZhugeEX" Ahmad, showed the list included Rainbow Six, Dynasty Warriors, Marvel Rivals, and a mobile game co-developed by Tencent and Square Enix based on Final Fantasy XIV. [Thanks, Niko Partners!]
This is the first official announcement of any kind that a mobile game or title based on Final Fantasy XIV was being developed. The eXputer forum user Kurakasis shared a rumor in July 2024 stating a project is in the works. This is the first official confirmation that the game is both in development and co-developed by Tencent and Square Enix, following a 2018 agreement that the two companies would be working together in the future. When Ahmad shared the news on social media, the tweet specifically mentioned by Lightspeed Studios. The report does not list if the game is a spin-off or a full mobile version of the MMORPG that is playable on phones or tablets.
The other games being brought over, including the upcoming team-based multiplayer hero shooter Marvel Rivals and Paper Mario: The Origami King, are imports of products that are either out or are leaving open beta testing and entering full release. The Rainbow Six title, Dynasty Warriors 8 mobile adaptation, and the mobile Final Fantasy XIV game are the two entirely new titles.
Final Fantasy XIV and its newest expansion Dawntrail are available now on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The FFXIV mobile game is apparently in development and headed to China.

Studio Wildrose announced that we will see new Penny Blood: Hellbound content soon, as the roguelite title is getting Early Access Update 2 on August 8, 2024. It took to Kickstarter to discuss all of the new elements that will show up after the patch arrives, with online multiplayer being a big addition.
The update is designed to offer more reasons to explore both alone and with others. A fourth area will be added alongside new weapons for every playable character. Studio Wildrose also confirmed the game will also be receiving an online multiplayer mode, but didn't detail how it might work. New quests, enemies and NPCs, and blood-surfing functionality for the ranged characters is also on the way.
The update from Studio Wildrose included an apology for the delay in the full 1.0 release of Penny Blood: Hellbound. It was originally supposed to appear in Summer 2024. The note stated that the team is working to address the issues brought up in player feedback, with major bug fixes on the way. The full list of changes will be made available on the official Discord. The developer also stated the plan is to have the full release out by early Fall 2024.

Even though the Fire Emblem: Three Houses Male and Female Byleth figure reveal only happened at the end of July 2024, Good Smile Company already shared an update at Smile Fest 2024. This time, we got to see unpainted prototypes of both of the characters.
The new unpainted Fire Emblem: Three Houses Byleth Pop Up Parade figure prototypes both match the concept art. Each one is wielding the Sword of the Creator. The female version is holding it in such a way that she looks as though she'll swing it from the right to the left. With the male version, he looks as though he's about to swing it from the left to right. In each case, active poses are used.
Here's the latest update on the male and female versions of Byleth.
While there was an update on these two Fire Emblem: Three Houses figures, there was no news on three others. When Good Smile Company revealed the two versions of the professor in Japan in July 2024, it also announced Pop Up Parade versions of Dorothea, Hilda, and Sylvain. All of them appeared in their school uniforms.
All of these announcements were originally tied to the game's fifth anniversary. Nintendo also revealed an array of other types of merchandise in Japan to honor the occasion.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses is available on the Nintendo Switch, and the male and female Byleth Pop Up Parade figures are in development and don't have any launch window.

Yet another Bunny Garden Rin figure update appeared at Smile Fest 2024, but this was for a Pop Up Parade L model and not the Nendoroid. The painted prototype showed up at the event.
Rin is wearing her bunny costume from the hostess club for the figure. The pose shows her with her right hand on her hip and the left making a peace sign. As it is a painted prototype, this could suggest that the final version of the figure could open for pre-orders soon.
Here's how she looks so far:
To compare, here's a screenshot showing how Rin looks in-game.
As she's a Pop Up Parade L figure, she should cost $57.99 like other ones of that size. That also means she should stand at over 8 inches tall (220mm).
This is the only Bunny Garden character who showed up during the August 2024 event. There's no update on the Nendoroid of this character just yet.
However, updates on the Bunny Garden game still keep showing up. For example, Qureate shared a new patch in July 2024. That added more Cheki Poses for photos and extra gifts.
There's no release window for the Bunny Garden Pop Up Parade L figure of Rin yet. Bunny Garden is available on the Nintendo Switch and PC worldwide.

There's another update on the Hades 2 Nendoroid at the latest Good Smile Compant Smile Fest 2024 show. While the first version shown in July 2024 was an unpainted prototype, the new version is a painted prototype that is further along in development.
The painted prototype of the Melinoe Hades 2 Nendoroid addresses some of her more unique features. For example, we can better see the colors of her two eyes. It also gives us a better idea of how her armor will look. The ultimate design of her see-through left arm isn't addressed just yet, however. It only appeared completely painted teal for this latest version of the figure.
Here is how Melinoe is looking so far:
Hades 2 Early Access updates have been coming at a steady pace as well. Patch 3 appeared in June 2024, and it handled things like Aspects of the Nocturnal Arms and the Crossroads Cauldron. The July 2024 patch addressed Boons and Blessings.
The Hades 2 Melinoe Nendoroid is in still development, and Good Smile Company has yet to announce a launch window for it. Hades 2 is currently in early access for PCs, and there's no word yet about an exact release date for the 1.0 version.

The Lain Iwakura Serial Experiments Lain Nendoroid appeared in the flesh (plastic) at Smile Fest 2024 among Good Smile Company's anime figure updates. While she first showed up as concept art in July 2024, she appeared as a painted prototype at the August 3, 2024 event in Japan.
The latest version of the Lain Iwakura Nendoroid almost exactly matches the Serial Experiments Lain concept art. Her pose is the same, with her wearing a backpack and holding the right strap with her right hand. She's also wearing her school uniform. She also has her signature hairstyle, and the photo uses a faceplate with a neutral expression.
Here's a closer look at the figure's progress so far:
There's no exact release window yet. However, once Nendoroids appear as a painted prototype at an event, it typically means pre-orders will open in the near future. For example, the Record of the Lodoss War Deedlit Nendoroid prototype appeared at the end of June 2024. Pre-orders opened a month later at the end of July 2024.
The Lain Iwakura Nendoroid from Serial Experiments Lain is in development, and there's no exact release date for the new figure yet. The anime is available physically at places like Amazon and digitally via retailers like the Microsoft Store.

Back in February 2024, Good Smile Company announced a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 figma figure of Eunie. At Smile Fest 2024, she reemerged as a painted prototype.
Eunie is wearing her original Medic Gunner outfit for the figma. She's also wielding her Gunrod. The faceplate used for the photo is a standard, smiling expression. No other accessories are shown beyond her Blade.
Here's how the Eunie Xenoblade Chronicles 3 figma looks so far:
Eunie is the second figma based on a character from the game. The first was one of Mio. That one is immediately available. To give an idea of what to expect from the newest figma, the Mio Xenoblade Chronicles 3 figure is $85.99. She came with four face plates, her Moonblades, and also extra diary, flute, and hair parts.
Prior to this, we've really only seen Mio Xenoblade Chronicles 3 figures. She showed up as a scale figure before. Nintendo also released an amiibo NFC figure of her with Noah designed to work with the game and unlock items, as well as act as a collectible.
There is no release window for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Eunie figma yet. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is available worldwide on the Nintendo Switch.

At Smile Fest 2024, Good Smile Company showed off the latest version of the upcoming Persona 5 Royal Haru "Noir" Okumura Pop Up Parade figure. This time it showed up as a painted prototype, suggesting pre-orders could end up opening in the next few weeks or months.
Haru is wearing her full Noir Phantom Thief attire for this figure. She's also tipping her hat and pointing with her right hand. She doesn't have any weapon "equipped." Also, as this is a Pop Up Parade standard figure, there are no additional parts or options.
Here's a closer look at the Pop Up Parade figure of the character that is based on her Persona 5 Royal appearance.
All Persona 5 figures in the Pop Up Parade line are standardized. So they all tend to be about the same high and cost the same amount. So like the Oracle or Crow ones, she should be around over six inches tall and will cost¥4,800/$38.99.
There's no release window for the Persona 5 Royal Haru "Noir" Okumura Pop Up Parade figure just yet. Persona 5 is on the PS3 and PS4, while Royal is on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

It isn't just the figure of the Fate/Grand Order (FGO) Usada Pekora that appeared, as the Hololive Vtuber Nendoroid also showed up at Smile Fest 2024. Like the other scale figure, this one also showed up as an unpainted prototype.
As this is an unpainted prototype and initial photograph, not all details and elements of the Hololive Vtuber Nendoroid appeared. Her expression for this face plate is the same as the one in the scale figure. However, in this case we can clearly see the rabbit-shaped highlights in the center of her pupils. The pose is also the same as the other one, with her Shielder Mash Kyrielight shield in her right hand and a peace sign left hand part used. The Nendoroid will also come with a small figure of a Pekomon mascot, just like the scale one.
Here's a closer look at this FGO Nendoroid of Usada Pekora.
Both of these figures stem from Usada Pekora being named a Fate/Grand Order ambassador at FGO Fes 2023. This also led to Type-Moon Co-Founder Takashi Takeuchi drawing the concept art for the ensuing figure.
Fate/Grand Order is available on mobile devices. Usada Pekora is an active Hololive Vtuber and part of the Hololive Fantasy generation alongside Houshou Marine, Shiranui Flare, and Shirogane Noel. There's no release window yet for the FGO Usada Pekora Nendoroid yet.
