Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome
Google is so synonymous with search that it’s become a verb; as Dictionary.com puts it, “to search the internet for information about (a person, topic, etc)”. But will that still be the case in 2035? Or even 2026?

Maybe not, if OpenAI has its way. Its ChatGPT Search is already increasingly used by people who have had enough of Google’s results pages, overloaded as they are with ads, widgets and out-of-date forum posts.

ChatGPT Search, in contrast, just gives you the answers with no fuss. Sure, it uses AI to summarise those answers – which some people may be wary of – but it also clearly links to the source articles. That said, I’m not sure that ‘I’m just going to ChatGPT that’ will ever roll off the tongue quite so easily as ‘Google it’ does.

The good news is that as of this week, ChatGPT Search is available for anyone to use, whether or not you're signed into an OpenAI account. Maybe give it a try and see what you think.

That was far from the only big story in the AI world this week (no surprise there), with OpenAI also releasing a new reasoning model and confirming that a chatbot gadget is on the way. You'll find those stories linked below, along with our full Samsung Galaxy S25 review (AI features and all), our list of what to watch this weekend, and much more.
