Okay, now, I know you've probably read that headline and thought to yourself "why on earth would outdated UI in Silent Hill f be a good thing?" Allow me to explain! To be a contrarian for a moment, I think that a large amount of triple-A games have incredibly boring UI. It's very much because of that late 2010s trend of simple, emboss-free graphic design you see in logo design everywhere these days, and I hate it.

There often is a but, because occasionally one of 'em rolls around that feels like it just gets me, you know? This week, it's a shooter that feels like it was born to be a Flash game on Newgrounds in the mid-2000s that you'll sometimes bring up to your friends saying "man, remember that one game?" It's called Shooty Shooty Robot Invasion, and as simple as its title is, there's a lot going for it.

kagurabachi hiatus

Kagurabachi will go on a short hiatus and return in Issue 30. Issue 30 will come out in Japan on June 23, 2025. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

The last chapter of Kagurabachi to come out in the weekly magazine was Chapter 82. That one was in the June 9, 2025 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. As for the reason behind the hiatus, it's because mangaka Takeru Hokazono needs a break for health reasons. Though there aren't any details or specifics, it's likely not a serious ailment if he's going to return at the end of the month.

Kagurabachi is a manga that started serialization in September 2023. It's an action and fantasy series that follows Chihiro, the son of a famous swordsmith. Though he aspires to become a swordsmith in the future, his life takes a tragic turn after his father's murder. With sword in hand, Chihiro embarks on a journey to take revenge on the killers. The manga is highly popular not only for its artwork and story, but also from Internet memes that circled around it on English social media. As of the time of writing, it's the 9th most popular manga on Shueisha's Mangaplus. It's just behind Sakamoto Days and Spy x Family.

The Kagurabachi manga will go on hiatus until Issue 30 of Weekly Shonen Jump, which will come out on June 23, 2025.

Genshin Impact Skirk Anime Short Hints at Her Origins

HoYoVerse released a new Genshin Impact anime style short for Skirk that looks at her backstory and hints at her origins before the events of the game. It also features a number of cameos that show her interactions with prominent members of the cast before her debut as a playable unit.

Editor's Note: The Genshin Impact anime short for Skirk features spoilers for the character.

The Genshin Impact Skirk anime style introduction begins with her being picked by Surtalogi: The Foul. He is sending her to Teyvat and notes that the Descenders to the world have "the power to reshape the fate of the world." However, Sutralogi noted she is not one, since he brought her there, and as such is a "trespasser." We then see her fall like a shooting star, with Fontaine characters like Furina and Neuvillette see her descent.

As Surtalogi tells her to "walk his path" to find a way to defeat him, he also reminds Skirk that Teyvat isn't her home. Segments after that hint she encountered Klee's mom Alice, Dainsleif, and Childe (Tartaglia). We also see her numerous battles against various types of opponents.

Here's the full "Star Odyssey" short:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxAubNf3EQQ

We do know what to expect from Skirk's moveset once she debuts in-game. She'll be a Cryo character who uses a sword to attack opponents. She'll use The Foul's attack for her Havoc: Warp Elemental Skill. Also, she doesn't use Elemental Energy for her Havoc: Ruin Burst, instead it with or without Serpent's Subtlety earned from her Skill.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices. The 5.7 update arrives on June 18, 2025.

Tamagotchi Paradise and Peanuts Snoopy Tamagotchi Nano Debut in August

Bandai Namco set the US release dates for the new mainline Tamagotchi Paradise and the spin-off Peanuts Nano virtual pet starring Snoopy. Both debut on August 1, 2025. The mainline, color system with a crank costs $44.99, and Amazon pre-orders are open for all three colors. The Nano with a silicone case shaped like a doghouse is $32.99, with Amazon also taking pre-orders for it.

This does mean there's about a one month gap between the Japanese and US releases for all of these devices. The Peanuts Tamagotchi Nano with Snoopy debuts in Japan on July 12, 2025, as do the three Paradise models.

In the case of the Nano, this is a barebones variant of the virtual pet. There's no color screen. You can't connect to the internet. It is only about 4cm tall. You raise Snoopy, which can evolve into different variants of the character based on your care. Others will appear as cameos. The three minigames in it are Beagle Scouts, Snoopy's Suppertime, and Write the Great American Novel.

With the new mainline models, they're much larger at over 3in. The idea is you can turn the crank to zoom in and out on a world. 12 species of character are present, with 50 characters to start, and you can breed them in your device or by connecting with someone else's to create variants by mixing genes. There are more varied minigames and experiences in it than in a Nano model.

Here's how the three Paradise visual pet variants look:

Both the Peanuts Tamagotchi Nano starring Snoopy and the three Paradise variants will launch in the US on August 1, 2025, with Bandai Namco's Amazon storefront being the first outlet with pre-orders open.

Disgaea 7 Complete Will Be a Switch 2 Exclusive

Back in 2023, Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless showed up on the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, and now in Fall 2025 Disgaea 7 Complete will debut on the Switch 2. As with pasts releases, it includes all DLC, and this version will also include some new challenges and Asagi. Rakshasa Baal will also be present to fight. A first trailer showed everything off.

In Disgaea 7 Complete, we follow a rich otaku named Pirilika who wants the full Hinomoto Netherworld experience. However, when she gets there she finds it is nothing like she expected. So she hired Fuji, tricking him into a contract, to help her restore the region and bushido code.

Here's the first trailer confirming Disgaea 7 Complete will show up on the Switch 2. While it initially started with standard gameplay footage, by the halfway point we get teasers for the included DLC, Asagi, and Rakshasa Baal. Hell Mode for everyone is confirmed, if you pass "Freely Use Infernal Treasures," and the previous stat cap can be lifted if you pass "Take Me Beyond the Limits." Promo art for Celestial Guardians in Pokemon TCG Pocket

If you're trying to log into Pokémon TCG Pocket but getting errors, chances are you're not alone, as the servers are currently in a pickle.

Given the nature of the game, you'll always have to be online to enjoy the content. Online connectivity is a must, whether you're playing against bots, going up against random strangers, or dueling with your friend. This makes it important to know about the operational status of the servers before you begin your gaming session and try out your new deck.

Is Pokémon TCG Pocket down? (June 12)

Currently, the servers of the popular digital CCG are down, and it's a worldwide phenomenon. The servers across all major regions are not operational. If you're trying to log in, you'll get an error. If you still reach the main screen, trying to start a match will create the same error.

https://twitter.com/PokemonTCGP/status/1933247189918318973

The problem isn't with your internet. Many websites and gaming servers are down worldwide. The exact cause of the problem isn't known at this point. Sadly, we also don't know when the servers of Pokémon TCG Pocket will become operational again. The only thing to do is wait, hoping the servers will come online as soon as possible.

How to check Pokémon TCG Pocket server status?

The easiest way to check the server status is by following the official X account of the game itself. Typically, you'll find a post ahead of any routine maintenance or update, allowing you to prepare better. Such posts also contain the estimated ending periods of the server downtime.

In case of accidental downtimes, your best bet is to check out the social media communities like the subreddit. Alternatively, I always rely on Downdetector. Just type in the game's name, and it will show the game's current server status. If you find a spike of red dots, it just means that the servers are down. The results are shown for your local region, but you can switch to a new one.

Nintendo Switch 2 customize buttons

There's a lot that comes to mind when thinking of Nintendo, from the Switch being a solid handheld console option for relaxation to hype over the Switch 2 and its games. Seeing errors and server outages is unexpected, but no company or service is 100 percent safe from the possibility.

Are Nintendo servers down?

At the time of writing, Nintendo is experiencing outages in its eShop, Switch Online services, and Nintendo Network, as well as several of its games, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and various Mario Kart titles. This is largely due to a global outage affecting numerous major games and services.

Nintendo status page
Screenshot by Destructoid

However, this isn't always the case. Typically, rather than large-scale global outages, you'll most likely see small errors affecting only one service or a brief maintenance period for particular online games. Knowing Nintendo's server status will help narrow down the potential causes and solutions.

How to check Nintendo server status

There are multiple places where you can check Nintendo's server status, including official Nintendo services, general server status sites, and social media platforms. Here are some suggested places to check:

All of these pages can provide more details from both Nintendo itself and community members to verify if the error you're experiencing is impacting others.

If Nintendo's server status looks operational, you may be experiencing a client-side issue instead. Be sure to try the following troubleshooting tips to see if this is the case:

  • If you're experiencing issues with a particular Nintendo game, check to see if it has any pending updates.
  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection
  • Close any background applications or games that can interfere with the game you're trying to play.
  • Restart your gaming platform (PC, Nintendo Switch, Phone)
  • Uninstall and reinstall the game you're trying to play.

If Nintendo's server status page and social media platforms suggest there are no active outages, there's a chance you're having a client-side problem instead. In this case, taking the steps above can help resolve the issue quickly, allowing you to get back to gaming right away. Otherwise, you can contact Nintendo's customer support for FAQs, troubleshooting tips, and direct contact with a Nintendo support representative.

A promo art for Cammy in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6's servers are in a pickle as of June 12, affecting many online services.

While you can access the single-player stuff, fun is all about battling out with other players. The easiest way is to go online and match with your friends/other players. Unfortunately, that won't be possible if you can't connect to Capcom's servers. Hence, knowing the server status becomes very important before you sit down with your arcade stick (or your controller if you're like me).

Is Street Fighter 6 down today? (June 12)

As of this writing, Street Fighter 6's servers are down globally. Almost every major region and its available servers have been affected. Typically, the servers are down if Capcom is performing routine maintenance.

This problem, however, appears to be part of a global server outage. Several servers of different websites (not just related to games) are out as of writing, and it appears that the Street Fighter 6 servers are also affected. As of writing, there's no ETA on when the problem will be resolved.

https://twitter.com/StreetFighter/status/1933162969019433114

How do I check the Street Fighter 6 server status?

The easiest way to check the server status is by visiting the game's official X account. Alternatively, you should also follow Capcom's X account. A prior notice is sent out on social media when there's an upcoming maintenance. This allows the community to prepare for outages. The last routine maintenance was during the first week of June.

In cases like tonight, your best bet is to ask on the game's subreddit or use Downdetector. You can use the website to check the server status based on your region. You can easily change the region to know the global status of the servers. If you notice a plethora of red dots on Downdetector, it's more than likely that the servers are down.

Mario Kart World art

Mario Kart World is full of laughs and rage, but sometimes, the only thing that can stop the good (and angering) times are server outages.

If the Mario Kart World servers are down, you can't win any races. You also can't get hit by a blue shell at the finish line and lose any races either, but the good comes with the bad. If there are server problems, Lakitu isn't letting anyone on any tracks, so you might be out of luck.

Here's how to check Mario Kart World's server status to see if the game is having issues with online connectivity.

Mario Kart World server status

Mario Kart World racers dabbing
Image via Nintendo

To check Mario Kart World's server status, visit the official Nintendo Switch Online service status website. Otherwise, check something like DownDetector for Nintendo Switch Online to see if people are reporting outages.

If the servers are down, the game will often give Error Code: 2321-4608 when trying to play anything in online multiplayer for Nintendo Switch Online. This means that there are connection issues with the game servers, and you likely won't be able to connect. If this is the case, there's likely not much you can do as it's a server-side issue.

If you think the problem with connecting to Mario Kart World or Nintendo Switch Online might be on your end, try resetting your internet connection, restarting your Nintendo Switch 2, or closing and re-opening Mario Kart World to see if you keep getting the problem.

It's always worth checking social media like X/Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to see if others are having the same issue as you. If the problem persists, it's likely a widespread issue and there's nothing you can really do besides wait it out.

We suggest playing some Grand Prix or other singleplayer or offline multiplayer modes in the meantime until the servers come back and you can continue attempting to grab wins in Knockout Tour and other online modes.
