PCGamesN Sunday, September 7, 2025 6:33 AM How do you unlock the Wall Jump in Hollow Knight Silksong? Hidden in one of the many deep tunnels that comprise the haunted kingdom of Pharloom is a handy ability that lets you use any sheer wall as a jumping platform. It's an essential technique you'll need to unlock to access later zones and hidden areas, and one that requires traversing a particularly perilous gauntlet. While a sequel to Hollow Knight - widely considered to be one of the best PC games ever - Hollow Knight Silksong features a new character, Hornet, who is missing many of the abilities you came to rely on in the first game. Finding them all can be made a little easier by using our Silksong map, but you'll need to beat some properly tough Silksong bosses before you start upping your arsenal. PCGamesN Sunday, September 7, 2025 6:11 AM With GTA 6 chugging along the road to release, Rockstar has largely left Red Dead Redemption 2 in the proverbial dust. The spectacular Wild West tale has been on the back burner since 2022, with just one bone thrown our way recently courtesy of its Strange Tales of the West update. But modders haven't slowed down, and one fan-created project has just achieved the impressive feat of making RDR2 look even better than it already did. The innocuously named 'Catalogue Improvements' mod is a sweeping overhaul to the game's wardrobe with fixes, upgrades, and even some new items, and it's a must have. Looted from their corresponding temples found throughout Pharloom, Silksong crests offer a way to switch up Hornet's combat style to your liking. PCGamesN Sunday, September 7, 2025 5:00 AM I awaken in the bowels of a fog-enveloped forest, surrounded by hundreds of corpses. The bloodied bodies of my countrymen line my path forward, ushering me deeper into the darkness. Mud squelches beneath my boots; I crouch - there's something up ahead. Once a man, now a mutated monster, it turns and screeches, weapon raised, preparing to fight. This is my introduction to Valor Mortis, the new soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. It's a marked departure from the cold, neon-bathed streets of Dharma City, but, much like its cyberpunk sister, it hooks me immediately. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Sunday, September 7, 2025 6:00 AM ![]() Sundays are for realising that the smell you can smell is that smell. That smell which smells. And how does it smell? It smells smelly. You open the door, and there they are. Anchovies. All waiting to play Hollow Knight: Silksong. No. Stay back. They won't. Into your cardboard box they file, clearly experts in filling tight spaces thanks to their past lives as tinned goods. From upstairs, you hear the unmistakeable sound of roaring laughter, echoing amid the damp paper. "I told you to let me out," bellows a triumphant Adrian Edmondson. "Now you'll pay the price." As the light fades from your eyes, you picture some writings from this week. |

While at the Bone Bottom camp in Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hornet can spend a considerable amount of rosaries to get a few handy items, going from a Mask Shard to a Simple Key.
But although the latter's description hints at a grand purpose, no further clues are given. Here's what the Simple Key does in Hollow Knight: Silksong and how you can get a second one.

What does the Simple Key do in Hollow Knight Silksong?
You can use Simple Keys in Hollow Knight Silksong to open simple doors across the game's many maps. The doors can lead to either hidden areas or kickstart quests. For example, you can use a key to free the Green Prince from his cell in Sinner's Road. Keep in mind that each Simple Key can only be used once.
In our case, we used the Bone Bottom key to open the door featured in the image below, located in Wormways. As we had already unlocked the Cling Grip, we then followed the path to easily reach Alchemist Zylotol and complete the Alchemist's Assistant wish. We then headed down to unlock the Wanderer Chapel and acquire its Crest.
How to get another Simple Key in Hollow Knight Silksong
For those who have already used their first key but want to free the Green Prince, you can also get a Simple Key in Silksong by heading north of his location at Sinner's Road until you reach the spot marked below. Be aware, though, as you will need to get past worm-filled waters, complete a spine-filled platform sequence, and face a Roachkeeper in a one-on-one duel to acquire the reward. If you have already met them, you can also spot Garmond and Zaza within the path.

Although Sinner's Road's first bench will be inaccessible, even after you pay its Rosaries tool, you can unlock the region's true saving and resting place by heading to its easternmost area. There, you will also find and meet the Styx.

Craftmetal is a unique resource in Hollow Knight Silksong that you can find pretty early in the game and has an essential use.
Unlike more traditional items and consumables, you can't directly use Craftmetal. Instead, it's used as a resource to acquire different items. Unlike Rosaries, Craftmetal can be used at only one location to get the items (unless I have yet to discover another place).
If you're as confused as I was after starting to play Silksong, this guide will clear all your doubts.

How to use Craftmetal in Hollow Knight Silksong?
Craftmetal becomes a crucial resource when you meet Forge Daughter and want to buy something from her. She's one of the two merchants in Deep Docks (the other being Shakra). I have marked her location on the screenshot below (the red circle) if you're lost (you'll want to find her for reasons apart from Craftmetal, but I won't give any spoilers).
![]()
You'll find her offering some essential items requiring both Craftmetal and Rosaries. The exact amount varies; you'll need more Rosaries than the former. However, you should still get Craftmetal before you encounter her to complete the purchase.
The Sting Shard and the Magma Bell require using Craftmetal (and Rosaries) to complete the purchases. Both require one Craftmetal each, in case you're wondering how many you'll need.
How to get Craftmetal in Hollow Knight Silksong?
In my experience, you can get Craftmetal as a loot. However, you can also get one by exchanging your Rosaries to purchase from a trader.

Craftmetal is one of the earliest items to purchase from Pebb, the trader in Bone Bottom. You'll have to shell out 60 Rosaries to purchase one Craftmetal. I have also marked a location (screenshot above) in The Marrow where you can find a piece of Craftmetal. You'll come across a destructible wall; break through and follow the tunnel, and you'll find the elusive item.
