Welcome to the Week in Review
Phones, phones, phones – it’s all we’ve thought about this week. Then again, was that ever not the case? And in fairness to team TechRadar, we’ve had many good reasons to get excited about those shiny rectangles in our pockets.

Such as... well, the arrival of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This is the platform that will power the next generation of Android superphones, and our US Mobiles Editor Philip Berne has the full details on the launch from Hawaii. Tough gig, that one.

Over in Apple Land, meanwhile, attention has been focused on ‘scratchgate’, as some people are annoyingly referring to it. For the uninitiated, some iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models have been developing scratches. That’s it, that’s the story. Editor at Large Lance Ulanoff does not think it’s a big deal (and I would agree). Find out why below.

One story not enough of a Lance fix for you? You can watch him in full flow in the latest edition of the TechRadar Podcast, where he gives us his views on the iPhone Air and explains why an Apple exec threw a phone at him. Oh, and we’ve also reviewed the new Fairphone 6, dug into the new desktop Android OS and much, much more.

Enjoy.

Marc McLaren, Global Editor-in-Chief
