If you have dipped your toes already into the Mega Dimension DLC of Pokémon Legends Z-A, chances are that you have already come across a task that requires you to use the catch window thrice.

A subpart of the Hyperspace Survey, you'll have to use the catch window three times to complete this task. Doing so will reward you with 750 points and complete the survey. While the task itself is straightforward, it can be confusing if you don't know what to do.

This guide will help you figure out what the task is and how you can complete it without any hassle.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC: Catch window explained

While you might think that the catch window mechanic has been added as part of the DLC, it's not the case. The mechanic has been present in Pokémon Legends Z-A since its launch, and we have all been using it from the very beginning. The only difference is the introduction of a quest as part of the DLC that highlights the mechanic.

To complete the Hyperspace Survey, here's what you need to do.

  • Spot a wild Pokémon in the open that you can attack.
  • Instruct your Pokémon to attack and bring the enemy Pokémon's health down to zero.
  • Knocking out the Pokémon is essential as the catch window won't be triggered otherwise.
  • Throw a Poké Ball at the knocked-out Pokémon.

You'll need to be careful for the last part of the task. When you have knocked out the Pokémon, you'll have exactly one chance to capture it in the catch window. If you throw and fail to capture the Pokémon, the capture window will be over.

If that happens, you'll have to retry the same method with another wild Pokémon. You can go through the list of all Poké Balls available in Pokémon Legends Z-A and use the one that offers the highest chances of success.

The player character in Pokémon Legends: ZA using Emboar to fight an Alpha Corviknight

The complete list of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends Z-A has increased further with new additions from the Mega Dimension DLC, and there are some incredibly powerful options to add to your team.

TPC had already started sharing information about new Mega Evolutions as part of trailers and pre-launch material. However, we can have a better and firmer idea about which Mega Evolutions have been added exactly as part of the DLC.

This guide will list all the Mega Evolutions that you can find in Pokémon Legends Z-A if you have access to the Mega Dimension DLC.

All new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

The table below has all the Mega Evolutions that are now available in Pokémon Legends Z-A. To find them, you're going to need the DLC.

Name Type
Mega Lucario Z Fighting
Steel
Mega Zeraora Electric
Mega Raichu X Electric
Mega Raichu Y Electric
Mega Baxcalibur Ice
Dragon
Mega Chimecho Psychic
Steel

All six names mentioned here have been revealed in promotional events ahead of the launch. Mega Lucario Z is different from the rest as it's a Z-type Mega Evolution. The Z-type is a stronger variant of ordinary Mega Evolution, offering different looks and better stats.

Three additional Mega Evolutions have also been revealed, but I am yet to discover them in the DLC.

  • Mega Sceptile
  • Mega Swampert
  • Mega Blaziken

Mega Raichu X and Y were the first new Mega Evolutions revealed for the Mega Dimension DLC. The two forms were revealed with Mega Dimension earlier in September 2025 Nintendo Direct.

Raichu was followed by the reveals of Baxcalibur, Chimecho, and Zeraora in November. All three have better stats than their base versions and different body colors. Finally, Mega Lucario Z became the latest one to be showcased earlier in December.

There are a few more new Mega Evolutions you'll encounter in Hyperspace as boss battles.

  • Mega Absol Z
  • Mega Staraptor
  • Mega Tatsugiri
  • Mega Crabominable
  • Mega Scovillain

Mega Tatsugiri has three alternate appearances as well, which I found to be really cool. If I discover any more names, I will duly add them to the table and lists that are mentioned above.
