I have two dreams as mayor of an island town in Nova Roma, the new early access city-building game from Lion Shield and Hooded Horse. One is to erect a fantastic water network for my people - a sturdy yet poetic lattice of aqueducts, following their deft gradations down from the mountain rivers to cisterns gracefully spaced amid the insulae, forums, circuses and temples. In my reborn Rome, no populous bathhouse, tinkling fountain, or humble latrine shall ever run dry. With my other hand, I shall raise mighty dams, diverting the rivers away from my walls to avoid flooding in times of heavy rainfall, while exposing velvety expanses of buildable, tillable soil.

My citizens will learn to treat water frivolously, swilling and pissing it away in their decadence, much as they did in the Rome of old. The fools! For when my empire of hydration is complete, I will ascend the slopes and whimsically commission one final dam. Trusting in my stewardship – for what reason have I given them to disobey? - the citizens shall toil day and night to finish the structure. Then, when the last stone is laid and the sluices slam shut, they shall gaze in horror as a tidal wave engulfs their fair metropolis and sweeps all their precious bloody bathhouses away.

Slap bang in the middle of this range of options is the Ryzen 7 9700X, an eight-core and 16-thread processor that can be had for decent money. It's currently $265 from Amazon US in the Spring Sale, working out to a genuine reduction on a decent option for most folks that makes for a much more compelling option if you want to change over to AM5 from an older system, or want to upgrade your existing rig to the latest generation.

FFVII Ever Crisis Sephiroth Weiss and Cloud Nero Gear Teased

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is back in FFVII Ever Crisis, as the Breaking Chains second part of the event storyline is live, and Square Enix teased new weapons and costumes for Young Sephiroth and Cloud Strife based on Weiss the Immaculate and Nero the Sable. Only the Sephiroth banner is live now, however. There's also a weapon for Cait Sith to earn called a Sable Megaphone.

Since the Sephiroth Weiss costume and sword are available through a banner live until April 22, 2026, we know what to expect. His weapon is called Immaculate Blade, and the gear is The Immaculate. Both are five-star pieces. The sword has the Sunder Earth+ C Ability that deals 750% earth damage to all enemies and decreases their earth resistance and the Boost PATK and Boost Earth Potency R Abilities. Meanwhile, The Immaculate comes with an Earth Ability Dmg Up buff, a Boost Earth Pot buff for allies, and the Ultra Sunder Earth C Ability that deals up to 2,000% physical earth damage to enemies and applies a debuff that increases the amount of physical damage they take.

As for the other items, it will take some time to get them. There's no word on when the Cloud Nero the Sable sword and costume banner will show up in FFVII Ever Crisis yet. With the Cait Sith Sable Megaphone, that's tied to actually getting through the Dirge of Cerberus event. So it will take some time to earn and find out how helpful it might be.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available on PCs and mobile devices, and the Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII Part 2 event and a Young Sephiroth Weiss the Immaculate banner are live now. The banner ends on April 22, 2026, and the event goes until April 29, 2026.

Star Fox Hero Fox McCloud Is in Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Nintendo and Illumination shared a new The Super Mario Galaxy Movie announcement and film poster that revealed Fox McCloud from Star Fox will appear. It is unknown if he will be the only cameo character from that series to show up. We also don't know who his voice actor will be yet. This follows a previous social media teaser that suggested Pikmin will show up as well.

The Fox McCloud The Super Mario Galaxy Movie poster shows him in front of what appears to be the Arwing from Star Fox. He is wearing his standard pilot uniform from those games. There's also an Ukiki, a monkey-like character from the Super Mario and Yoshi's Island series standing alongside him. No sign of any other characters, like Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, or Slippy Toad, appears.

Here's how that looks:

And in case you missed the Pikmin confirmation, that happened earlier in March 2026.

https://twitter.com/supermariomovie/status/2033951501781963096

Both reveals followed confirmation that Super Mario Bros 2 characters Birdo and Wart would return for this film.

These sorts of cameos aren't too uncommon for these films. Some of the major characters in the original The Super Mario Movie ended up being Donkey Kong series staples like DK, Diddy Kong, and Cranky Kong.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will appear in theaters on April 1, 2026. The last mainline game in the Star Fox series was Star Fox Zero for the Wii U, which also included the game Star Fox Guard.

Pokemon branded Kraft cheese being sold in Japan

Morinaga Milk has revealed that it will release Pokemon-branded Kraft sliced cheese packages in Japan in early April 2026. This crossover will help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise.

This crossover will have specific Pokemon—namely Pikachu, Snorlax, and Eevee—adorn a Kraft cheese package. Each of the cheese slices' wrapping will also feature Pokemon illustrations, although it is worth noting that the Melty and Flavorful Sliced Cheese version will also feature the Eeveelutions in addition to Eevee itself.

The Japanese press release also notes that all packages will have the same price tag of ¥475 (~$2.99). However, each of them will have a different expiry period, as listed below:

  • Kraft Sliced Cheese featuring Pikachu - 9 months
  • Kraft Melty Sliced Cheese featuring Snorlax - 7 months
  • Kraft Melty and Flavorful Sliced Cheese featuring Eevee - 6 months

Kraft will thus join the ever-expanding list of brands that have new Pokemon crossover products for the franchise's 30th anniversary. Other notable collaborations revealed earlier include Heinz's tomato ketchup bottles, Uniqlo's new T-shirts, All Nippon Airways' new jet plane liveries, and TIME magazine covers.

The Pokemon-branded Kraft sliced cheese packages will be available in limited numbers in stores across Japan in early April 2026.

Preview: Krile Is a Surprise Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy Standout

So by now, I'm sure you've seen quite a few Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy previews, impressions, and maybe even reviews from closed beta impressions and people getting a chance to test it out. It's a different sort of direction for the series. Especially after the (excellent) Opera Omnia and its story-heavy, turn-based battle approach. I got to spend a few hours going hands-on with the game, and I did enjoy that time more than I expected due to some rather optimal conditions. But I think the main reason I had a good time is because Krile from FFV might end up being a surprise standout character in Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is a team-based game where folks go into 3v3 and attempt to be the team to take down a boss instead of the other team, while also purifying crystals by defeating smaller foes and minibosses. Taking down enemies (minions or opposing players) and restoring crystals builds up your Bravery for a Burst attack. Which is necessary, as you can't actually deal damage to a boss unless you unleash that Burst. Aside from the default normal attack that happens when within range of an opponent and can be sped up by tapping the screen, equip five main Abilities and five passive ones to your character's deck to use. (Cooldowns take effect after selecting one.) Abilities are picked up via gacha draws. After starting, you select Warrior of Light (FFI) Terra (FFVI), Cloud (FFVII), or Lightning (FFXIII) as your first character, and you can use single Character Tickets for a random gacha draw to get a new character/costume or wait until you get five to purposely pick one of the characters you haven't unlocked yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvlGrsq3qyw

Which brings me to how I started using Krile during my preview session. I chose Terra during the tutorial process and figured I'd go with a Ranged role approach for this period. However, once I started to do a few pulls on the Ability banners, I ended up getting three out of Krile's four exclusive Abilities, with one being the UR Legend of the Deep Forest healing ability. Basically, RNG decided my main for the session for me. And it's a good thing it did, because it highlighted how critical the Support role, and thus Krile, might be in Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy.

See, at launch there are only two Support characters in Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, and they're Warrior of Light and Krile. The thing is, Warrior of Light seems to be more of a buff-type unit, with two of his Abilities prioritizing enhancing everyone's attack or preventing damage. Krile is essentially the only healer. Seeing as this is PVP, staying alive is critical. But even better is that another of her unique Abilities also involves a buff.

Due to my luck when building up my Ability Deck, I ended up with the three most essential skills Krile would need to be a successful and useful member of a Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy team. One is her R Nightingale move. It's the one with the shortest cooldown, and it restores 30% of everyone's HP. You don't need to be near them. You (and your teammates, of course) just need to be alive. It's very helpful. So is the SR Hopeful Cheer once you reach the point in a match where you're near the opposing team on the map and your allies hit a point at which they can use a Burst to start targeting the boss. That "moderately" buffs attack for 20 seconds. It doesn't seem like a lot, but since matches are only a few minutes long that does go fast. The third (and best) skill in my arsenal turned out to be the UR Legend of the Deep Forest move. While the cooldown on that is substantial, for 15 seconds it will offer a regen effect that heals everyone for up to 300% of their health. Again, it's an absolutely essential move once you're at the midway point and in the line of the enemy team and boss' line of fire.

But another thing I found I liked about Krile when using her is that she's easily underestimated. Because I was relying on those three exclusive Abilities, I could slot in two more generic attacks (fire and gravity-based) to actually deal damage to opponents. It seemed like in the session, most people weren't actually aware of how long her normal attack range was too, so I sometimes found I could sneak up on a human opponent who was near death and take them out. But also, since she is ranged and there to heal, I could hang back a bit. Basically, I'd position myself where I could keep track of my allies' HP bars and try to time my Abilities to help when it'd be most useful.

I'm not sure how long I might play Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy once the game does launch later this month, but I do know I'll be using Krile as my character when I do. She's just too helpful on a team. Her exclusive Healing Abilities are handy, and her not being one of the immediately offered allies might mean others won't realize exactly how good she is right away, allowing those who do use her to take advantage of that.

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy pre-registration is open ahead of the March 24, 2026 release date on Android and Apple iOS mobile devices.

Super Mario Galaxy Movie Luigi Yoshi Mairo Toad

We're a week away from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie releasing, and for some reason, the powers that be decided to spoil an awesome new character making their first appearance.

I'm slightly mad but also mostly excited because their inclusion is just incredibly cool, but if you want to avoid spoilers, stop looking right now. Go away. Seriously. If you're going to be mad about the surprise reveal about a beloved Nintendo character in the new animated film, leave.

Are you gone? Okay, cool.

FOX MCCLOUD! The intrepid pilot of Star Fox fame has been confirmed to appear in the new movie, after previously being spotted in another trailer by eagle-eyed Nintendo fans, and he got a badass new poster to announce it. Check it out below:

Star Fox Super Mario Galaxy movie
Image via Nintendo

For Nintendo fans and gamers in general, this is tremendous news. The announcement on Twitter/X received over 4.2 million views and 30,000 reposts in a little over an hour, so people are excited, to say the least. And so am I. Because if Fox can be included in this Nintendo and Illumination collaborative world, who else can they throw into the mix?

Teasers and trailers for the upcoming movie have already confirmed the inclusion of Pikmin and R.O.B., on top of Super Mario-specific characters like Bowser Jr., Yoshi, Birdo, Rosalina, Luma, Wiggler, and many others. But if we're doing Fox and other Nintendo characters, too, then the possibilities are limitless.

And that's why I want to see some sort of Super Smash Bros-like collaboration film. It's possible that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie could be introducing a sort of multiverse that could bring in characters from other Nintendo IP, and like in Smash Bros, other game franchises too. There's a blue hedgehog out there with his own film series that's been known to have some run-ins with our favorite Italian plumber, you know.

But why stop there? Nintendo and Illumination could pull out all the stops and create their own Avengers: Endgame with a Super Smash Bros. movie featuring anyone you could think of who's appeared in those games. It would be expensive and a big undertaking, but imagine the possibilities.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie launches worldwide on April 1, and I'll be expecting some sort of Nintendo Nick Fury post-credits scene.

Promotional material for Neopets - Mega Mini Games Collection showing the neopets logo and two npcs

If you're like me, you spent most of your childhood days surfing the pound and hoping the Fountain Faerie would pop up. If that sentence means absolutely nothing to you, you probably didn't spend much time on Neopets.

Most people knew Neopets as a Tamagotchi-like website, but it was so much more than just feeding pixels on a computer screen. It was one of the early, youth-friendly digital third spaces—a way to meet like-minded '90s kids, express your creativity, and build the beginnings of core gamer skills that pushed so many of us towards a lifelong love for gaming. And for that last one, you can specifically thank the Neopets Game Room, a collection of Flash games that tracked scores on a leaderboard and handed out Neopoints that could be spent on pets.

I've written before about just how much Flash games ruled my life in the early 2000s, and the Neopets Games Room commanded a large portion of my time. I'd spend hours shifting tiles in Sutek's Tomb or feeding innocent PetPets to a yeti in Snowbeast Snackrifice (seriously, how did that one make it past approval?). Partly, it was to build my wealth of Neopoints. Mostly, though, it was because some of those mini games were just so darn fun that I couldn't close the tab.

A number of games from Neopets Mega Mini Games Collection Arcade screen
Neopets - Mega Mini Games Collection is bringing back 25 games, plus one new one. Screenshot by Destructoid

In 2026, my Neopets account is long gone, locked behind an old email to which I don't remember the password. But when I heard a collection of the Neopets Game Room classics was making its way onto new platforms with the release of Neopets - Mega Mini Games Collection, I won't lie: my nostalgia-fueled curiosity was piqued. In the buildup to the game's release, I made a new Neopets account just to replay some of my favorites. But with the collection's launch, I'm experiencing the Neopets mini games in an entirely new way.

Neopets - Mega Mini Games Collection releases March 26 on PC and consoles for $29.99 in both physical and digital formats to celebrate 26 years of Neopets. With only 26 mini games included, it won't feature everyone's favorites (there's over 150 in the Neopets Games Room), though the selection is fairly broad. These games, which were once browser-only, now offer controller support and have been optimized for wide-screen displays. Players will also be able to link their NeoPass account "to earn unique cosmetics, currency, and exclusive digital items," according to the game's product page, although that feature was unavailable during my time with the game.

There's also a story mode, which puts you in the shoes of Nyx as she competes against friendly rivals in a tournament across Neopia and its many regions. To win, you must rack up points in the 26 arcade games by crossing a specific point threshold for each one. During the tournament, you'll meet an assortment of Neopia's biggest celebrities—like Grarrg, King Roo, and Samrin the Kacheek—though their appearances are limited to minor roles and a dialogue box here and there.

Nyx, an Aisha from Neopets, and King Roo, a blumaroo, appear on the screen with a beige dialogue box between them.
You'll need to play mini games across Neopia's various islands to win the tournament. Screenshot by Destructoid

Though it might sound enticing, the story mode is anything but. Completing it is mandatory if you want to access the Arcade mode, which allows you to play individual games (and what I'd expect most people to be buying this remastered collection for). Granted, it only took me an hour or two to run through the story mode, in large part because the required scores for each level are comically easy. But the story mode can often feel like a slog since the dialogue seems random and insistent on repeatedly informing you about how some of the games can be played co-op. It often reads unnaturally, which led me to spam the A button on my Nintendo Switch just to skip through it.

What slowed my progress, though, was the appearance of a few bugs. Now, don't get me wrong—Flash games had jank, and this is a collection of remastered Flash games. But if you're going to package free games into a bundle and then sell it back to people, it should be clean. From tiles overlapping in Destruct-O-Match to fruit refusing to fall in Gadgadsgame, I ran into glitches in several games that impacted playability, and while a simple restart fixed most issues, it meant losing progress in that particular mini-game. Small, but frustrating nonetheless.

A bunch of colorful rectangular boxes against a prehistoric background.
A bug in Destruct-O-Match causes the tiles to stack on top of each other, as seen on the left side of the grid. Screenshot by Destructoid

Of the 26 games included in the Neopets - Mega Mini Games Collection, 25 of them are retro classics. As part of this release, developer No Gravity Games created a new mini game named Starlight Symphony, a rhythm game like Guitar Hero where you press buttons in time with music. With simplistic gameplay that's been done before and repetitive music from other mini games, it's not a mode to write home about. I'd have much rather seen more time spent on remastering other games that are notably absent in this collection, like Mynci Beach Volleyball or Chia Bomber 2.

For what we did get, Neopets - Mega Mini Games Collection offers a fun way to revisit some of the classics and allows you to take them on the go, depending on your platform of choice. But it's hard to recommend at its current price point given the limited library of games, boring story mode, and assortment of bugs—especially considering you could play all these games for free on your desktop browser.

While we await more leaks, it's pretty easy to guess what trend EA Sports will follow. The RTTF promo will feature cards of footballers who have qualified for the advanced knockout stages in Europe's club competitions. This includes four different tournaments.

  • UEFA Champions
  • UEFA Europa League
  • UEFA Conference League
  • UEFA Women's Champions League

This has been the pattern that EA Sports has followed for the promo. Moreover, all items will be dynamic and eligible for upgrades based on how their respective footballers and clubs perform in real life.

Darkbringer sword in Crimson Desert

The Darkbringer is one of the best weapons in Crimson Desert in terms of its elemental abilities and damage. To use the sword, you'll need to clear a fair bit of in-game content and unlock it on your adventures.

This guide will list all the key steps that you'll need to complete.

Darkbringer location in Crimson Desert

To find the Darkbringer, you'll need to visit the White Wastes Sanctuary region. The location can be found in the northwest region of the Silver Wolf Mountains in Pailune. If you already have Frost Magic, you can simply fat-travel to the Path of Trials Abyss and glide to the correct location. If not, you can use the horse to take a different route.

How to unlock the Darkbringer in Crimson Desert

Once you've reached the location marked on the image above.

  • It's pretty easy to find the correct spot since there will be a bunch of crows circling the spot.
  • Keep following the main path until you have reached the spot.
  • You'll come a pit with skeletal remains of a giant.
  • Drop down and reach the skeleton's lower jaw. The Darkbringer is stabbed in it. Interact to pick up the weapon and add it to your inventory.

There's also a memory fragment that you can find at this location. Use your Visione Helmet to find out the story behind the remains of the giant skeleton and how the Darkbringer was lodged in its jaw. If you're having problems finding strong armor sets to defend yourself, the Plate Armor set is arguably among the best ones to find in your adventure.
