Resident Evil Village Will be at TGS 2020, Capcom Confirms
When Capcom unveiled Resident Evil Village in June, they said that they'd be sharing another update on the game in August, and subsequent reports had suggested that those plans were still on track. Well, August is over, and for those of you who're wondering why the survival horror game didn't show up, Capcom have an answer for you.
Taking to Twitter, the company confirmed that it will be bringing Resident Evil Village to the Tokyo Game Show 2020, which will run from September 23rd to 27th. In its tweet, Capcom also confirms that the update due in August was delayed, implying that it will now be the centerpiece of their TGS showing. Resident Evil has historically had a major presence at TGS most years over roughly the last couple of decades, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise.
Recently, Square Enix also confirmed their presence at the show, with games such as Babylon's Fall, Balan Wonderworld, Marvel's Avengers, and more included in their lineup. Read more on that through here.
Meanwhile, Resident Evil Village has been the subject of many alleged leaks of late- in that, not much has changed since before the game was officially announced. From its bosses and enemies to its early story beats and prologue to playable characters, details on quite a few things have emerged in recent weeks. Read about it all through the links, but beware of spoilers.
Resident Evil Village is due out for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC some time in 2021. Hopefully a more specific release date (or window) will be revealed at TGS.

We know that gamers were excited to learn more in August so we apologize for the delay. Stay tuned.#REVillage #ResidentEvil

Halo Infinite Concept Art Reveals New Banished Foe, Gen 3 Mark VII Armor
343 Industries has released some interesting new information on Halo Infinite, particularly on a new enemy that Master Chief will encounter on Zeta Halo. Though Sangheili, Jega 'Rdomnai fights as part of The Banished and fights with an energy sword. However, what's interesting is that his own past is "shrouded in rumors and half-truths."
"Some say he was an experiment, an affront to his own kind. Others make mention of a clandestine ambush gone wrong. Very few know the truth, fewer still speak of it. One thing is certain: he has hunted demons before, and as the first recruit welcomed into the Hand of Atriox, he will do so again." As one of several new characters in Halo Infinite, Jega has the potential to be a cool recurring threat for Master Chief.
Some concept art of the Gen 3 Mark VII Armor was also showcased. While it embodies the Halo 1 design, this new version sports "breakthroughs in neural interfaces, shield emitters, fusion power, and armor formulation." There's also that spiffy grappling hook or GrappleShot which helps Chief zoom up to places. The armor is created by Dr. Halsey, who many Halo fans will be familiar with, and it should be interesting to see what role she plays.
Halo Infinite is currently in development for Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. It's currently planned to release in 2021. Recently, Certain Affinity announced that it was collaborating with 343 Industries while former Halo writer Joseph Staten confirmed that he had joined as a project lead for the campaign. Stay tuned for more details on the shooter in the coming year.
Square Enix Reveals TGS 2020 Line-up, Includes Babylon's Fall

However, it seems that Babylon's Fall from PlatinumGames is also part of the lineup. Ubisoft Forward Planned for Next Week – Rumor
Whether it's the firing of Assassin's Creed Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail, recent reports of sexual misconduct or the raised fist symbol used for an antagonistic faction in Tom Clancy's Elite Squad, Ubisoft seemingly can't catch a break. Despite all of this, the company is going to have another Ubisoft Forward digital stream. While it confirmed this back in July, the stream could be coming as soon as next week.
According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, it will be happening in the "very near future (next week, I believe)." He also noted, rightly so, that "Once again, their timing is impeccable." As it stands, we may finally get to see Gods and Monsters again. A new rating by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee for Immortals: Fenyx Rising was recently spotted, which could be announced as the title's new name.
There may even be a release date (and maybe even some gameplay). A recent leak has also raised the possibility of a comeback for Prince of Persia. Other potential reveals include gameplay for Far Cry 6, more news on Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, and of course, more promotion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion. Stay tuned for more details along with an official announcement on the stream's timing in the next few days.
BTW, Ubisoft has been planning another Ubisoft Forward video game reveal stream for the very near future (next week, I believe). Once again, their timing is impeccable

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Loads Worlds in "Less Than a Second" – Insomniac
Sony has quite a few heavy-hitters to rely on for the PS5's launch (whenever that may be). Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart wasn't in the conversation, until the developer confirmed it to be releasing in the console's launch window. Now all eyes are on it to deliver, even if the holiday season is already packed.
Thankfully, the various mechanics and overall flow of gameplay has been looking better and better. The Rift Tether, used to reposition during combat, seemed smoother in the recent demo. But more interesting is how it's used to transition between different worlds, which game director Mike Daly notes are "real, fully fleshed out" when speaking to The Washington Post.
"One of the cool things about it, is that it's all still live gameplay where you can control your character. All those worlds that you're traveling through during those sequences are real, fully fleshed out worlds that you could just, like, stop and play in under other circumstances." What those "other circumstances" are remains to be seen.
In terms of loading times, these worlds are loaded in "less than a second" which is all the more impressive with the game capable of running at 4K resolution and 30 FPS. Daly also spoke a bit about the DualSense's haptic feedback and how it works with different weapons. One new example provided was the burst pistol where "It can stay accurate if you fire it slowly or you can just pull the trigger all the way down to fire quickly and sacrifice that accuracy for rate of fire."
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart currently doesn't have a release date and isn't even confirmed for the PS5's exact launch date. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully more gameplay in the coming months.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Details Everything You Need To Know About Each Digital Edition
2020 certainly has been one for the ages. The COVID-19 outbreak has ravaged so many people's lives, and has turned industries completely on their head. Because of that so many high profile titles have been delayed, events have been canceled and, in the case of the new Call of Duty, revealed in a very unique and unconventional way. As often is the case, the game also has several different editions to chose from. Which should you get? Well, Activision has you covered.
In a new video, Activision has broken down each digital version. The biggest edition this year is digital exclusive and is the Ultimate Edition. It comes with both the next generation and current generation version of the game, plus the Land, Sea and Air pack which includes 3 Operator skins, 3 weapons skins, and 3 vehicle skins. It will also include the Season One Battle Pass. The Crossgen bundle is, as you would expect, both the current and next generation versions of the game. Then there's just the standard edition, though do keep in mind that the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions have been confirmed to be $10 extra. All versions of the game come with the Weapons Confrontation pack.
If you preorder any digital version of the game, you'll get early access to the Open Beta, which is looking to go live on October 8th for PS4 players. Black Ops Cold War is set to launch on November 13th.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One Introduces You To Its "World Of Crime" In New Deep Dive
Next year, it is once again time to return to the detective work of Sherlock Holmes with Chapter One from the acclaimed Frogwares studios. In many ways, their take on the iconic detective has become something of the definitive one on the gaming side of things, and now we get to see something of the sleuth's past. And today we also got an introduction to the world of crime he must navigate.
In an extensive deep dive, which you can see below, the developer walks you through the game's world. The game will be a single player detective game, much like the other titles in the Frogwares Shelock Holmes series. Its main quest is said to take roughly 15 hours, but also lots of side quests and side content that you can stretch out to easily 30-40 hours. The combat will be more refined here, and while you can't just gun down people willy nilly, if you find yourself in a gunfight, you're more than equipped to deal with it. There also will be more customization than previous games, so you can deck your Holmes out just a bit more.
They say this game is not planned to be a games as service title, and is in fact a standalone single player title. It's currently in pre-alpha and they plan to do another deep dive on the game's detective gameplay either at the end of this year or beginning of the next. Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will release on 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. We sat down with the developer as well to talk about various aspects of the game, and you can read that in full through here.
Super Mario 35th Anniversary Remasters Still Set For This Holiday, Alleges New Rumor
COVID-19 has done a number on just about everything, it seems. Video game companies got hit hard, with lots of delays. One company that is very obvious with is Nintendo, whose latter half of 2020 releases have been pretty slim. For a long time, it's been rumored we were getting a collection of remasters for Mario's 35th Anniversary, but thus far, those rumors have been a bust. Well, throw another one on the fire, as more rumors are coming.
This go around, the rumors come from the podcast, Nate the Hate. Apparently, the podcast has reported on Nintendo leaks with some degree of accuracy in past, correctly guessing both of August's Directs. He says that the collection was actually supposed to be out around this time originally, but COVID pushed everything back. He still contends that it's real, however, saying that it's now Nintendo's big holiday title. He also says there could be a potential bundle or dock beside it.
"I think now it's going to be positioned more as a holiday game than as they had originally planned. I believe the original plan was that the 3D collection was going to come out in September, had these games been announced in June… then we probably would have had 3D World Deluxe follow it in either October of maybe even early November. Now that's completely scrapped.
"Then we're potentially looking at 3D collection either being early October… or the 3D collection is going to come out in November and be positioned as a prime holiday title, with a Mario-themed console, dock and all of that," he said.
"Then I think you're going to see 3D World Deluxe get delayed out of the 35th anniversary party and it's going to come out in January 2021."
It's getting late even for this potential schedule, but Nintendo has been dropping announcements out of nowhere recently, such as the Pikmin 3 Deluxe title that will release at the end of October. Who knows, though, we'll just have to wait and see.
PS5 Said Not To Have PS1, PS2, PS3 Backwards Compatibility In Removed Ubisoft Support Page
Despite releasing this holiday season, there is a lot we don't know about the upcoming systems from Sony and Microsoft. Mainly, the exact launch date, as well as what the price will be. Granted, those are also probably the two most important things, but here we are. One thing we don't know about in regards to Sony's system also is the extent of its backwards compatibility. While we know it will be BC with most of the PS4 library, what about beyond? Well, at this point, it seems unlikely, and another source points to that unlikeliness.
Some eagle-eyed internet sleuths noticed that via a Ubisoft support listing, it mentioned that the system was not backwards compatible. Specifically, it was speaking about multiplayer titles, with the exact wording being, "Backwards compatibility will be available for supported PlayStation 4 titles, but will not be possible for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation games."
It's worth mentioning that this page has now been removed (but not before being reported on by sites such as Wccftech), so it could have been a mistake. It also could have been more of a the page going live a little earlier than it was supposed to. Microsoft has been open about their BC offerings, which reach back all the way to select titles from the original Xbox release. The fact that Sony hasn't mentioned anything beyond PS4 seems to point to that being the only BC in store. We'll find out soon enough the truth, or at least, hopefully we will.
Halo Infinite Will Team Up With Monster Energy Drink For In-Game Perks To Store Until Game's Release
With the launch of the Xbox Series X, the next generation console from Microsoft scheduled for this holiday season, we all assumed one game we'd be playing on the box (alongside the Xbox One and PC) was Halo Infinite. But earlier this year came the absolute shock that the game had been delayed into 2021. Not many saw that coming, but it seems as if even with the game delayed, there's still promotions coming for it.
As announced via Xbox Wire, there is a promotion between Halo Infinite and Monster Energy Drink. Between September 1st to December 31st, you can buy select cans and store up perks. You can bank up 30 minute Double XP packs as well as special skins. You'll need to save your receipt and go to www.Monster-Halo.com. Ten very luck winners will get a trip of a lifetime for two to experience an out of this world Zero-Gravity Flight experience in Paris, France with all-inclusive flights and hotel stay plus $1,000 cash, and 100 winners will get a new Xbox Series X. The promotion also includes a Snapchat filter that lets you explore the world of Halo.
This promotion was assuredly meant for the game's original launch window, but it'll have to suffice for now. Halo Infinite will come at some point next year for Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC, and it's been confirmed that as of now the game will not come out in parts as many speculated. You can start storing your promotional perks starting September 1st.
