PS5 Delivery Trucks Are Being Robbed Mid-Transit By Gangs in the UK

ps5 sega toshihiro nagoshi story feature

PS5's are still incredibly tough to procure, especially for those living in the UK, who, since the console launched have been hit by a whole host of issues. On launch day, customers had their consoles either stolen by Amazon delivery drivers or swapped for unrelated items such as coffee machines and pet food. The UK, like plenty of other parts of the world, has also been plagued by scalper groups, who have bought 1000's of consoles at a time and now, in The Fast and The Furious style heists, PS5 consoles are being taken straight from delivery lorries.

According to a report by UK newspaper The Times, gangs are targeting lorries carrying high-value stock over the Christmas period and stealing their goods, that include high-end phones, PS5's, televisions and more.

In order to grab the goods, the gangs are performing a manoeuvre that is known as "the rollover". The move is exactly like something you'd see in a heist movie. Three cars come together to box in an unsuspecting lorry, a thief then climbs out of the sunroof of one car, onto the back of the lorry, opening the door and looting the valuables. The Times reports this move has been performed 27 times this year in the UK alone.

It's been reported that many of these lorry drivers are hired on a casual, temporary basis and therefore lack the security training required to deal with situations such as these ones.

Although the PS5 has faced a plethora of issues in the first month since it launched, that didn't slow it down. It was reported that the system had the biggest console launch of all time in the UK, one which "far exceeded the UK's previous record-holder" which was the PS4, that clocked in at over 250,000 units during its launch.

Lyn Inaizumi Will Perform Persona 5 Music at The Game Awards

Persona 5 Strikers, Lyn Inaizumi

In a tweet from Geoff Keighley, vocalist Lyn Inaizumi will be performing music from Persona 5 during this week's The Game Awards.

"#TheGameAwards is heading to Tokyo on Thursday for a special world premiere Persona musical performance featuring @lyn_Inaizumi during the pre-show."

Inaizumi is a Japanese jazz and soul vocalist who has worked on Persona 5 and its spin-offs. There's no word on what songs from the game she'll perform or if series Shoji Meguro will be there too. Her performance ties in well with Persona 5 Strikers likely making an appearance during the show. She won't be the only musical guest, with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder set to perform. Additionally, the pre-show will also feature five world premieres.

After months of speculation, Persona 5 Scramble is coming to America as Persona 5 Strikers. The game's announcement was leaked last week but we now know it'll come to the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC next February. Strikers is an action RPG and a sequel to Persona 5 where you can fight hordes of enemies throughout Japan. You'll get to also play as characters such as Joker, Morgana, Haru, and more.

As we get closer to The Game Awards, we're getting more details on presenters and potential announcements. Among the presenters is Gal Gadot, Brie Larson, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Josef Fares. Some of the games making an appearance are Dragon Age 4, Fall Guys, and Among Us. The Game Awards air on December 10 at 6:30 pm ET/ 3:30 pm PT.

Persona 5 Strikers launches on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on February 23, 2021. The PS4 version can be played on PS5 through backward compatibility. You can watch the announcement trailer below. While we wait for Strikers to come out, Persona 5 Royal is out now on PlayStation 4.

Dragon Quest XI S and Dragon Quest Builders 2 To Receive Price Drops on Switch

dragon quest xi s

Nintendo took to its Twitter with the announcement that two very recent installments in Square Enix's massively popular Dragon Quest franchise will be receiving price cuts this week. Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition will both see price drops on the Nintendo Switch versions of the games to potentially bolster the growth of the franchise's popularity even further in the West. Both titles will be seeing drops from $59.99 down to $49.99 just in time for the holidays.

Dragon Quest XI is currently the highest-selling installment in the long-running RPG franchise and continues to grow since last year's release of the Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch as well as the subsequent releases on PS4 and Xbox One. Dragon Quest Builders 2 has also proved to be successful in its own right as a spin-off series selling over a million units as of last year. Both have been extremely well received and continue to increase the overall popularity of this nearly thirty-five-year-old franchise.

If you managed to miss out on either Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition or Dragon Quest Builders 2, these price drops are more than enough of an excuse to check them out on the Switch. Especially in the case of Dragon Quest XI, this particular iteration of the game is the best version to pick up if you haven't taken the journey through the vast land of Erdrea yet. Dragon Quest Builders 2 has already received its price drop while Dragon Quest XI S is still listed at the original price at $59.99.

It would also be important to note that if you have other consoles such as the PS4 or Xbox One, Dragon Quest XI S retails for even less and is also available via Game Pass. No matter your platform of choice, you have options of how and where to experience these titles.

Halo Infinite Is Now Releasing Sometime in Fall 2021

Halo Infinite, 343 Industries

In a blog post from Halo Waypoint, Halo Infinite will now release on Xbox Series X|S sometime in Fall 2021. In addition to this announcement, we've also received new screenshots among other updates.

Halo Infinite was supposed to be an Xbox Series X|S launch title but got delayed back in August. After receiving new gameplay back in July, fans were worried about the game's visuals and how it looked. Towards the end of the blog post, creative director Joesph Staten says he finished the game's campaign twice during his first week and they'll be focusing on fixing bugs and polishing.

"The primary goal for the Campaign demo in July was showing Halo Infinite gameplay for the first time. While that aspect generally landed as we wanted, the reality is that the art and visuals weren't at the bar we hold for Halo – even in a work-in-progress state," says Neill Harrison, director of art management at 343. "Much of the feedback we heard from the community aligned with our own views and work we were already committed to doing around things like indirect lighting, material response, foliage and tree rendering, clouds, level-of-detail transitions, and character fidelity. Still, the feedback was humbling, and it also pushed us to look at additional opportunities for improvement."

Another thing touched on in the blog post is its multiplayer, which will be free-to-play. Chris Blohm, lead progression designer on the game says with it being free-to-play, there will be premium customization options for players. These can be earned in several ways such as through the campaign, completing challenges, or participating in special events. Additionally, the multiplayer maps will be more expansive, run at 60 FPS, and will feature time of day changes. 343's Ani Shastry points out that these among others were technically challenging and required a lot of time spent to optimize their game engine and tools.

Halo Infinite has been on a rocky road the past year. Besides the delay, the game's former director left the project back in October. 343 Industries says they'll be more communicative about the game going forward. Additionally, Xbox's Phil Spencer has said he's glad the game will come out when more Xbox Series X|S' will be available to purchase.

Halo Infinite launches on Xbox Series X|S sometime in Fall 2021. Stay tuned to DualShockers for more Halo Infinite and Xbox Series X|S news.

NieR Replicant 1.22 was announced back in March during a NieR 10th anniversary live stream. The game is a remaster of NieR from 2010. During this year's Tokyo Game Show, Square-Enix released a new trailer alongside some new details. Since then, we haven't gotten any new details or gameplay. After playing NieR Automata back in 2018, I've been so excited to play another game in the series.

As The Game Awards are coming up, we've gotten a ton of details on award presenters and possible game announcements. Some of the presenters are Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Josef Fares. When it comes to games, Dragon Age 4 will be shown off, a new map in Among Us will debut, and Fall Guys might show off season three. Additionally, the pre-show is set to feature five world premieres. There will also be playable demos for upcoming games to try out. Are there any games you're hoping get announced during the show? Let us know down in the comments.

Upcoming Monster Hunter Film Removed from Chinese Cinemas

Monster Hunter, Paul W.S. Anderson

In a report from CNN Business, director Paul W.S Anderson's upcoming Monster Hunter film has been removed from Chinese theaters due to a line that's considered offensive.

The line of dialogue in question comes from the character played by Chinese-American actor Jin Au-Yeung who says "what kind of knees are these? Chinese." This lead to backlash from Chinese audiences on social media. As Twitter user Daniel Ahmad points out, the dialogue in question references an old racist phrase.

"There was absolutely no intent to discriminate, insult or otherwise offend anyone of Chinese heritage," said in a statement from Constantin Film. "Constantin Film has listened to the concerns expressed by Chinese audiences and removed the line that has led to this inadvertent misunderstanding."

It's unclear if this line will be adjusted or edited for Chinese theaters. In a statement released this past Saturday, Xinjiekou International Cinema, a Chinese theater chain, said they'd stop playing the movie and refund any ticket sales. As CNN also points out in their article, tickets aren't available on Taopiaopiao and Maoyan, two of the largest Chinese movie ticketing apps.

"After hearing everyone's feedback about the movie, we have collected your opinions and have relayed them to the relevant companies," said Capcom Asia in a statement. "Capcom has always been devoted to providing good quality games to players and we hope not to disappoint you in the future."

Over the past couple years, China has become a major market for movie studios to release films in. As a report from The Guardian points out, American movies made $2.6 billion dollars in China alone. Additionally, they point out how Chinese censorship has been a major factor in some American movies making it to China.

The Monster Hunter film is supposed to release in American theaters on December 18. The film stars Mila Jovovich, Tony Jaa, T.I, and Ron Perlman. It's written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and distributed by Sony Pictures.

Cyberpunk 2077 Review Copies Did Not Have Blatant Epilepsy Warnings

Cyberpunk 2077 Epilepsy Warning

Update: 2:54 PM EST.

CD Projekt Red has provided us with an official comment on Liana Ruppert's comment and the inclusion of visible epilepsy warnings. CD Projekt Red is "working to introduce a separate warning splash screen in the game, so it's more than the warning in our EULA." The company also acknowledged that many gamers skip EULAs and that it "tried to get ahead of this by having a more digestible version of the document" which can be found here. It's worth noting that finding this document requires going to the bottom of Cyberpunk 2077's site and clicking on User Agreement.

The developer also wants to avoid any other players having the same experience as Ruppert going forward. To that end, Cyberpunk 2077's development team is exploring a more permanent solution and "will deploy it as soon as we can." That being said, getting updates through on consoles takes much longer than it does on PC. For PlayStation titles, a patch takes at least five days to pass through certification. That process is even longer on Xbox. With Cyberpunk 2077 shipping in just two days, it doesn't seem like a fix will be available when players get their hands on the game.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Epilepsy warnings are commonplace for video games. Game developers want people to have fun with their games, not get hurt playing them. However, Cyberpunk 2077, which already has a segment that can cause epileptic seizures, does not feature a blatant warning. At least, that is the case in the PC review copies sent to gaming outlets so far.

Yesterday, Liana Ruppert, an associate editor at Game Informer, published an article regarding a seizure she experienced while playing Cyberpunk 2077. In the article, she warns other players that Cyberpunk 2077 has a specific scene that can easily trigger a seizure. When asked if the game had provided any seizure warnings, Ruppert said that she had likely skipped over them. However, Sam Machkovech, the tech culture editor at Ars Technica confirmed that the copies of Cyberpunk 2077 sent out for review did not provide a seizure warning in its title cards. Instead, the game's sole warning is in its lengthy EULA, that long list of legalese that you probably skip over when launching a new game. The chances of players seeing this warning without deliberately looking for it are slim to none.

The issue has sparked a new controversy surrounding CD Projekt Red's latest title. Calls to add a proper warning to the game or add options that could remove seizure-causing scenes are coming from more than just Twitter users. In response to the Game Informer article, a UK based epilepsy charity, Epilepsy Action, has asked CD Projekt Red to update Cyberpunk 2077 immediately.

"We are alarmed and saddened that a game reviewer had a seizure triggered by Cyberpunk 2077, before it was even launched," said Epilepsy Action director of external affairs Louise Cousins. "The game features rapidly blinking lights and other animations that could cause seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy." Cousins' statement ends with a firm recommendation that CD Projekt Red updates the game to make it safer, saying "A disclaimer warning at the beginning isn't enough."

DualShockers has reached out to CD Projekt Red for a comment.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on December 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Gears 5 Adds Hivebusters Expansion on December 15

Gears 5, The Coalition, Xbox

Gears 5 fans have likely been enjoying the Xbox Series X/S update the team dropped alongside the consoles' launch. However, you have to imagine fans are left wishing for something new to play within the universe. Thankfully, The Coalition has some great news. Launching December 15, Hivebusters is a new campaign expansion that adds some solid, new content. Give the trailer a watch below.

Gears 5: Hivebusters puts you in the shoes of Lahni, Keegan, and Mac. Fans might remember the trio from the base game's Escape mode. The squad is being sent on a suicide mission to destroy a Swarm hive and you have to get them through.

The team is promising a 3-hour campaign for players to run through. You'll be able to play it with some friends in 3-player co-op. Importantly, you can do this in either split-screen or online co-op. So, regardless of where you and your friends play, you'll be able to fight against the Swarm together.

Hivebusters also lets players use and upgrade Ultimate Abilities in the campaign for the first time. Players will remember these skills from the base game's Horde mode. Now they're in the campaign to make things even wilder.

Gears 5 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The Hivebusters expansion hits on December 15. As ever, if you're a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber this will come as a part of your subscription. Though, you will be able to pick it up separately for $19.99 if, for whatever reason, you don't want to sign up for the best service in gaming.

New Hitman 3 Gameplay Trailer Shows Off All the Ways 47 Can Murder

Hitman 3

Hitman 3 ships early next year, which means it's about that time to kick off the big marketing push. To that effect, IOI dropped a new trailer today that shows some of the hijinks you'll get up to when you step into Agent 47's shoes. For longtime fans of the series, most of this will feel like a welcome return. It doesn't look like IOI is changing things up too much for the end of this trilogy. Though, why fix what isn't broken? Give the trailer a look below.

As you can see, the Hitman 3 trailer shows off quite a bit of what you'd expect. Agent 47 is using everything at his disposal to finish off his targets. Whether you're dropping guards with a silenced rifle, tossing on a disguise to get through a checkpoint, or beating a man to death with a feather duster, this is the Hitman series you know and love.

For some, it might be a bit disappointing to not see some bigger changes. That said, IOI is adding VR compatibility via PSVR. Plus, it's not like the first two games had massive problems anyway. Sometimes, more of the same is exactly what the doctor ordered. Add in all the new maps, and I can't wait to try this one out for myself.

Hitman 3 launches on January 20 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Remember, it's also coming to PSVR, alongside support for the first two games. Speaking of the first two games, those levels will come over with 3. If you haven't played them, it'll be a perfect time to hop in, especially if you're playing on next-gen consoles.
