Forza Horizon 5 is fun as hell, but I think the main reason so many more people seem into it than the last entry in the series is how it looks. Not in terms of the number of polygons on the screen, but just the vibe of it.

Activision Blizzard has had a nightmarish 2021, with historic allegations of harassment causing enormous upheaval at the company, several high-profile lawsuits and the departure (or firings) of many key executives and developers. You would think that this mess would fall at the feet of the company's CEO Bobby Kotick,…

Laika: Aged Through Blood is a cowboy Mad Max Metroidvania on a motorcycle

You've done Metroidvanias as intergalactic bounty hunters, vampire killers, weird little bug guys, and ethereal nature spirits - how about doing one on a motorcycle? The devs behind Laika: Aged Through Blood are billing it as "the very first motorvania", and it's looking like a stylish blend of genres and game styles.

Laika is a "story about a tribe oppressed by occupant forces", as the devs explain on the game's Steam page, set in a post-apocalyptic world that surrounds a whole lot of gas engines with Western vibes - sort of like if Mad Max had more cowboy hats. Oh, also, those cowboys are anthropomorphic animals. You take control of a "mother coyote warrior who descends on an endless path of vengeance to take back what her people lost".

Not exactly light and cheery stuff, but at least there's violence. The game's six chapters will have you riding through an open-ended world full of secrets, monsters, and characters to see, with new gear to earn along the way. You'll be able to do acrobatics on your motorcycle, using slow motion to line up shots on a variety of enemies and bosses.

Best Black Friday gaming mouse deals

We're at that time of year again, where the prices of gaming gear are laid on the chopping block, the axe is lowered, and we're left with discounts spilling out into a basket below. The crowd cheers. Gruesome imagery aside, the Black Friday sale might just be the perfect time of year to upgrade, and there are quite a few tempting gaming mouse deals primed and ready to go ahead of the big day.

So, what separates a gaming mouse from your everyday office clicker? After all, you've already broken free from the confines of a trackpad, what more could you possibly need? For a start, they can give you the edge in FPS games with better sensors and adjustable DPI, extra buttons when playing the best MMOs, or cut the cord so you don't get your wires crossed without wireless input lag.

Most other times of year, these features come at a premium price, but Razer, Logitech, and SteelSeries aren't waiting for the weekend to roll around. We suspect we'll see Corsair, Roccat, and HyperX join in on the fun by the time Black Friday lands on our doorstep, too, if you have your eye on a particular model.

NFT games will be every bit as successful as Artifact

It's seems like it's impossible to have avoided hearing about them, and if you have then I envy you. NFTs are "an important part of the future of our industry" according to EA. For Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, blockchain is a "revolution" in gaming. Non-fungible tokens, a blockchain-backed means of owning digital assets like ugly drawings of monkeys, are being talked up as the next big thing in gaming, but there's one problem: no one's been able to tell me what the Hell for?

For all the interest NFTs are currently generating on social media and in tech board rooms, it's hard to see a bright future for them in videogames. Most of what they promise for players is already possible using non-blockchain technology, and the one advantage they offer - that of portable digital ownership - is unimaginable in the current universe of triple-A games publishing.

If you want to see the future of NFTs in games, look no further than the fate of Valve's tragic collectible card game, Artifact. Based on characters and concepts from the massively popular Dota 2, Artifact was designed with help from Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield and used a unique business model: players could buy and sell cards outside of the game by using the Steam Marketplace. Rare and powerful cards would increase in value, but players were free to trade or sell cards as they saw fit.

The best Black Friday deals 2021 – gaming hardware gone cheap

It's that time of year again, where Black Friday deals plummet the price of sought-after goodies and fanciful technology. With the event just around the corner, Black Friday sales are well and truly underway, and will continue throughout the month. Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, and more are going head-to-head, leaving an eye-watering amount of discounts to choose from. Fortunately, we've rounded them up to make things easier for you.

Whether you're looking for a full-blown gaming system, a laptop to game on the go, or you're chasing the endless upgrades you can make to your gaming PC, there is plenty for everyone. You can even kit your setup out with a new keyboard, mouse, headset, monitor, or gaming chair and still have enough for some wall hangings. Don't tell the boss, but there are also several console discounts for the more Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo inclined, and even a few Apple products reduced in price.

If you're shopping on Amazon, it's worth considering a Prime subscription, as you can access deals 30 minutes early and get the items quicker with next-day delivery. Otherwise, stay tuned, as we'll continue updating this page throughout the extravaganza.
