Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 11:45 PM It's been over two years since Homeworld 3 was first announced, and things had gotten so quiet on the publicity front that earlier this year I wrote a whole blog about footage of a single ship firing a weapon. |

Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:40 PM It may not have Margot Robbie, but Rocksteady's upcoming Suicide Squad game made a moderately impressive showing during Geoff Keighley's three-hour advertising gauntlet tonight. |

Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:10 PM Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the re-imagining of a Square Enix JRPG that's better than it has any right to be, will head to PC at long last on December 16 so non-console players can experience one of 2020's best games. |
Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:10 PM It might not be the Silent Hill announcement that fans have been waiting for, but the trailer for Slitterhead revealed at The Game Awards looks just as spooky and dreadful as its spiritual successor. |
Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:09 PM Time travel. A Fae realm. A shared world with all manner of gameplay elements, from crafting to shooting. Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:35 PM After a brutal 11 years, there is finally an Alan Wake sequel, and it's a survival horror game. I, for one, am beyond excited. |
Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:30 PM The folks at Monolith Productions are developing a Wonder Woman game, The Game Awards revealed tonight with a barebones teaser. And as no release date or even intended platforms were discussed, we might be waiting a while to hear more. |
Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:20 PM We already knew this was coming, but a reveal at The Game Awards tonight makes it official: Quantic Dream, the controversial developers of games like Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain, are working on a brand new game set in the Star Wars universe, on what looks like a brand new world of their creation. |

Kotaku Thursday, December 9, 2021 7:52 PM During the preshow for tonight's Game Awards, indie mega-publisher Annapurna Interactive pulled back the curtain on the next big game in its portfolio. It's a turn-based RPG called Thirsty Suitors, made by the folks behind Falcon Age. There's some sweet-looking skateboarding. And it all smacks of serious Scott Pilgrim… |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 11:05 PM One of the world premieres at The Game Awards was ARC Raiders, the debut title from Embark Studios. It's a Stockholm-based developer headed up by former EA and DICE executives, and it looks like an intense co-op game with a heavy dose of science fiction. It's set to launch sometime in 2022, and will be free to play. The new trailer shows off some impressive gameplay, showing groups of players traveling through highly realistic wastelands, taking down swarms of robotic drones. Eventually, though, the crew runs up against some truly massive mechanical monsters: a huge four-legged walker, and an even larger Iron Giant-style mech that rises up out of the desert dust after a UFO crashes on the horizon. There's a throwback vibe to action sci-fi movies of the '80s, and the whole package looks pretty terrific. Embark Studios says its goal is to "blur the line between playing and making," and its site highlights some of the advanced tech its using in its games - ARC Raiders is conspicuously billed as its 'first,' implying heavily that there are more games in the works. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:53 PM December 9, 2021: GTFO has left Early Access, developer 10 Chambers announced at the Game Awards. Co-op survival horror title GTFO has been in early access for two years, but now developer 10 Chambers has announced that it's ready for release. At the Game Awards, 10 Chambers revealed that GTFO 1.0 has arrived and is available for download now. 10 Chambers promised way back in March 2020 - just four months after the Left 4 Dead-inspired game came out - that GTFO would leave early access in 2021. It's come very close to breaking that promise, but fortunately the team now confirms that version 1.0 is now available with a surprise announcement made during the Game Awards December 9. Not only that, but it's on sale for 25% off for the first week of full release. However, this doesn't mean 10 Chambers is done with GTFO. The team has provided around 50 expeditions within GTFO's five Rundowns so far, and narrative director Simon Viklund confirms that "Rundown updates will continue with GTFO in Version 1.0," hopefully allaying fan concerns. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:56 PM Ultramarine Captain Titus is set to make his return in Space Marine 2, a sequel to the gory 2011 action game Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment revealed Space Marine 2 in a trailer that debuted at the Game Awards. While the original Space Marine pit Titus and his team against Orks and Chaos forces on a forge world, the enemies in Space Marine 2 will be the fearsome tyranids, which are invading a world that's being defended by the Imperial Guard. In the trailer, a unit of guards is being overrun by the alien creatures - that is, until Captain Titus and his Ultramarines show up in a Thunderhawk. There's a lot of CG in this trailer, but we get some brief glimpses of gameplay at the end: Titus mows through huge swarms of tyranids with his chainsword, and leaps down with an assault pack to shock nearby enemies. In the original Space Marine, the only way to replenish Titus' health was to engage in brutal melee combat, so we can probably expect something similar this time out.

PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:03 PM Square Enix's other big upcoming RPG game - you know, the one that's not the next entry in the Final Fantasy series - got a fresh trailer at The Game Awards, confirming that it's due to launch in just over six months' time. It's coming PlayStation and PC (via Steam, Epic, and the Microsoft Store) on May 24, 2022. The trailer reveals a load of new details about the plot and setting, as well as a host of the monsters you'll be fighting and the magic powers you'll make use of. It also reveals Walking Dead star Pollyanna McIntosh's role as Tanta Prav, a mad sorceress. Square Enix also announced some pre-order details. On PC, you'll get the Spectra combo necklace, overclock nails, and elite cloak for purchasing early. You can also spend extra for a Digital Deluxe edition, with a bit of prequel DLC to launch in winter 2022, as well as a digital mini artbook and soundtrack. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:27 PM Victor Saltzpyre, co-op game Vermintide 2's imperious witch hunter, is the next member of the Ubersreik Five to get a new career. The latest Vermintide 2 DLC is out now, and adds the Warrior Priest career for Saltzpyre, replacing his trademark brace of pistols with a lot of big-ass hammers. "Warrior priests have been a central part of Warhammer for a very long time, and who would do it better than our own Sigmarite, Victor Saltzpyre," developer Fatshark says. "The Warrior Priest of Sigmar is probably the most requested career there is, and for good reason." As with Markus Kruber's Grail Knight career and Bardin Goreksson's Slayer career, Saltzpyre's new Sigmarite warrior priest role skips ranged combat entirely, trading in his pistols for a mighty silver Skull-Splitter Hammer. And when one hammer isn't enough, Warrior Priest Saltzpyre can bring two of them. He has other options, of course: he can also carry a shield or a blessed tome in his off hand, or he can opt for the two-handed Reckoner Great Hammer. PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:27 PM Sonic the Hedgehog is back in Sonic Frontiers. Well, maybe he never really left, but the next mainline game in the Sonic series has been unveiled at The Game Awards. As the rumours suggested, it looks like this is going to be a grand-scale on the series with a full open world, officially due to launch in holiday 2022 on PC (via Steam) and consoles. The next big Sonic game was previously announced in a brief teaser trailer earlier this year, pointing toward a 2022 release across PC and consoles. An early press release referred to the game as 'Sonic Rangers', while more recent domain registrations suggested a 'Sonic Frontiers' title. Players claiming to have been focus testers suggested it would be an open-world game with Ubisoft-style towers. The Game Awards is an annual extravaganza hosted by veteran presenter and game journalist Geoff Keighley. In theory, it's an award show highlighting the best of the past year's games, but the show generates its biggest excitement with an array of announcements for new games from developers both big and small. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:18 PM The battle royale game formerly known as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will go free to play January 12. The move has been rumoured for a while, and publisher Krafton confirmed at The Game Awards that PUBG: Battlegrounds will indeed join the ranks of free-to-play battle royales. PUBG: Battlegrounds ran a free week earlier this year in partnership with Kpop group Blackpink, and rumours at the time suggested the move was a trial for the developers to measure the impact the move to a free-to-play business model might have on the constantly evolving battle royale. Those seem to have been correct, as tonight's Game Awards reveal confirms. Krafton provided a couple quick factoids about PUBG during the reveal as well, such as the fact that players have spent a combined total of more than 14 billion hours in PUBG since it launched five years ago. In the past couple months, we've seen Baby Shark and mountain bikes make their way into the game. RELATED LINKS: PUBG new map, PUBG weapons, Play PUBG |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:07 PM Inflexion, the newly-renamed studio headed up by former BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn, has revealed its first game: Nightingale. The devs bill it as a "shared-world survival crafting game set within a rich Victorian gaslamp fantasy setting" and, alongside the debut trailer, have revealed that it's due to hit early access in 2022. Nightingale sets you exploring a variety of biomes, including forests, swamps, and deserts, as you restore portals to move ever more deeply into the Fae realms. You can play alone or find a group to help you build the farms and estates you'll need to survive in a world filled with both magic and magical monstrosities. "From the beginning, we knew we wanted to build an intricate fantasy setting as rich and full of history and life as anything we've worked on in the past," Inflexion CEO Aaryn Flynn says in a press release. "The realms of Nightingale are vast and have many secrets to uncover, and we cannot wait for players to start discovering them." |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:52 PM Final Fantasy VII Remake is officially coming to PC via the Epic Games Store. The long-awaited PC port was announced at The Game Awards, and will launch on December 16, 2021 - which is one week away, if you're looking to keep track. This is the Intergrade version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and judging by the amount of Yuffie in the trailer, we will be getting the full package with the recently-added DLC content. There's no word on when or if this'll come to other PC platforms, but given the Epic logos all over the announcement trailer (and the exclusive launch of Kingdom Hearts earlier this year) it's safe to expect an exclusivity period here. The Game Awards is an annual extravaganza hosted by veteran presenter and game journalist Geoff Keighley. In theory, it's an award show highlighting the best of the past year's games, but the show generates its biggest excitement with an array of announcements for new games from developers both big and small. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:47 PM The creators of the Shadow of Mordor series are working on a Wonder Woman game with publisher Warner Bros Games, and a brief teaser debuted at The Game Awards that provided a first look at Diana. The short video revealed little else, but odds are pretty good it'll be a character action game in the vein of Monolith Productions' Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. As Wonder Woman's in-game look is revealed in the CG teaser, the voiceover implores players to "restore what is broken." Her signature lasso makes an appearance at the end, and the voice tells us, "you can be a leader." Without any gameplay to go on, anything else we might write about Wonder Woman is speculative. However, the exhortation to "be a leader" suggests we may see something along the lines of Shadow of War's signature Nemesis System, which was rumoured to have been originally developed for a cancelled Batman game, but eventually adapted for the Uruks in Shadow of Mordor. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:34 PM Alan Wake 2 has been the subject of plenty of rumours and speculation over the years, and today it was made official. Remedy officially announced Alan Wake 2 during The Game Awards. A brief teaser trailer confirmed that the new game will launch in 2023. Remedy says this will be their "first survival horror game". More info is coming next year. Early this year, industry insider Jeff Grubb reported that the companies were working together on Alan Wake 2, suggesting that Epic was moving to a new model for securing exclusives to its store. If Epic helps fund or publish a game that might not otherwise exist, players might be more willing to accept its exclusivity - at least, in theory. Shortly after, Epic and Remedy confirmed that they would be working together on a then-unnamed triple-A project. Remedy revealed in August that this game was entering "full production" - so if it just started proper development earlier this year, we've probably got a long wait ahead before we actually get to play this one. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:26 PM Back in September, Smilegate RPG and Amazon Games decided to delay the launch of Lost Ark, giving a vague new release window of sometime in "early 2022". Now, the devs behind the upcoming fantasy MMOARPG - that's a massively multiplayer role-player with some extra 'action' thrown in - have unveiled the Lost Ark release date at tonight's Game Awards show - well, release dates, as those who order a particular version will get to jump in a few days early. Amazon and Smilegate have announced that the Lost Ark release date is February 11, 2022 on PC via Steam. For those who purchase a Founder's Pack on Amazon.com or Steam, the dive-in date will instead come on February 8, giving them a three-day head start. There are four different kinds of Founder's Packs available, which range from the cheapest, Bronze ($14.99 / £13.20), to Platinum, which will set you back $99.99 / £87.99 on Steam. In case the name is unfamiliar to you, Lost Ark is a fantasy MMO that will appeal to WoW and Diablo fans alike, which has already been a big success in countries like Korea, Japan, and Russia. Amazon Games is helping to bring it to many more markets, publishing it in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:30 PM December 10, 2021 Star Wars: Eclipse was officially announced at The Game Awards. It's real - Star Wars: Eclipse, the next game from the Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain devs at Quantic Dream, was officially announced with a trailer at The Game Awards. It doesn't show much, but it does give a taste of the setting for the game. The trailer features some classic Star Wars settings - a set of planets ringed by an asteroid field. We move into a grand city with classical architecture, then a set of markets with more of an underworld vibe. From there, we've got a load of settings spread across the galaxy. One shot appears to be at the Jedi temple with Yoda, so it looks like we'll be around the High Republic era. The Game Awards is an annual extravaganza hosted by veteran presenter and game journalist Geoff Keighley. In theory, it's an award show highlighting the best of the past year's games, but the show generates its biggest excitement with an array of announcements for new games from developers both big and small. Stick with us for coverage of all the upcoming PC games announced at the event. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:25 PM The long-anticipated sequel to Hellblade has re-emerged at The Game Awards. Developer Ninja Theory and publisher Microsoft unveiled a new look at the game at Geoff Keighley's show, and it's looking just as visually impressive as you might expect. The trailer opens on Senua and a group of warriors entering a beachside cave with a giant monster - in the form of a massive humanlike body. The group covers the giant with oil and sets it alight with flaming spears, but it doesn't go well, leaving Senua to fight while retreating. You can see the trailer for yourself down below. Senua's Saga: Hellblade II officially debuted at The Game Awards 2019 - yes, two years ago - alongside a first look at Microsoft's Xbox Series X. The brief teaser trailer didn't show much beyond some impressive visuals said to be rendered in-engine, but that was plenty to draw the excitement of Hellblade fans, though they've had a long wait for further information. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 7:55 PM Announced at The Game Awards, the reformed Telltale Games has announced The Expanse: A Telltale Series, based on the TV series. The game will be co-developed by Life is Strange: True Colors studio Deck Nine. The Expanse: A Telltale Series will be a prequel to the TV series, featuring Camina Drummer as the main character. As Game Informer notes, the project is still in the early stages of production, so it'll likely be some time before we see more. It will be coming to PC and consoles alike. (Here's hoping Wolf Among Us 2 lands sometime before then.) The Game Awards is an annual extravaganza hosted by veteran presenter and game journalist Geoff Keighley. In theory, it's an award show highlighting the best of the past year's games, but the show generates its biggest excitement with an array of announcements for new games from developers both big and small. |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:01 PM Homeworld 3 debuted a new trailer during The Game Awards, showing some atmospheric shots and setting up the story, and revealing the space-based RTS game will launch late 2022. Homeworld 3 first showed up as a crowdfunding campaign on Fig in 2019, although publisher Gearbox set its goal at a rather symbolic $1. The campaign wrapped up having pulled in more than $1 million, however, and headed into pre-production. Since then, we've heard precious little about it. Developer Blackbird Interactive is finally ready to start talking about Homeworld 3, it seems. Tonight's new trailer shows some establishing shots of the deserts of Kharak and the massive fabricator mothership, with hints at some new ideas like ship combat over the surface of a massive super space station. "Homeworld 3's campaign is set in a galaxy that has enjoyed an age of abundance thanks to the Hyperspace Gate Network, with the cycles of peace and war having come and gone," developer Blackbird Interactive says. "The gates themselves are now catastrophically failing and Karan, who has passed into myth and religious idolatry, is the key to the mystery threatening the entire galaxy's future." |
PCGamesN Thursday, December 9, 2021 7:13 PM The nominees are in, and it's nearly time to split your attention between the best games of 2021 and the brightest lights of the upcoming release slate - yes, it's once again the season of The Game Awards. Geoff Keighley's annual extravaganza returns this week in a primetime spot for North American viewers, but it might be a bit less convenient if you're watching elsewhere in the world. The Game Awards show will broadcast on Thursday, December 9. A brief pre-show will begin at 4:30pm PST / 7:30pm EST, with the main show following at 5:00pm PST / 8pm EST. If you're on the other side of the date line, that puts the start time at 12:30am GMT on December 10 for the pre-show, and 1am GMT for the main show. The show will be broadcast across multiple services, but if you want the highest quality, you'll need the YouTube stream, which will air in 4K. The stream will also be available on Twitch and Twitter. RELATED LINKS: Deathloop review, Pre-order Deathloop, The best FPS games on PC |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 10, 2021 1:33 AM Forspoken, a game whose name I will never pronounce correctly but was once known as Project Athia, finally has a concrete release date. Announced tonight at The Game Awards, Square Enix's big action RPG adventure will be hitting PC on May 24th 2022. I guess that technically still counts as 'spring' and therefore doesn't constitute a delay on its previous launch window, but it sure is a lot closer to summer than I was expecting. In any case, there's a shiny new trailer with some very hammy villains to enjoy at the same time. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 10, 2021 1:32 AM Honestly, I've no interest in Wonder Woman. Warner Bros announcing an open-world Wonder Woman game at The Game Awards tonight meant nothing to me at first. My interest was piqued when I saw it's being made by Monolith, the studio behind F.E.A.R. and the Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor series. Then I saw OH WAIT it's using that wonderful patented Nemesis System which breathes personality and history into enemies? I'm in. Fully. Let's go. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 10, 2021 1:24 AM I almost missed the trailer for Arc Raiders during The Game Awards, but quickly found the tab it was playing in as soon as I heard Robyn's Dancing On My Own. What a fab tune for a game trailer! Arc Raiders looks alright - it's a free-to-play third-person shooter in which you and a squad of mates fight evil robots, and it's coming out in 2022. Check out the vid below (if only to listen to a proper bop). |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 10, 2021 12:43 AM It's been three years since Babylon's Fall was first announced, but PlatinumGames' co-op hack and slasher finally has a release date. It's out on March 3rd 2022, and its new Game Awards trailer certainly shows a much more vivid and eye-catching game than the one Ed and I saw in the most recent closed beta. Not only are there giant skull bosses with lasers bursting out of their eye sockets, but some of the creatures you'll face in the Tower Of Babylon look suspiciously like Nier: Automata-style bullet-hell boys. See it all in action below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 10, 2021 12:38 AM While horror fans wait with dread to see what Konami do with Silent Hill next, several people vital to that series have announced a new horror game of their own, Slitterhead. Revealed during The Game Awards tonight, it's coming from Bokeh Game Studio, who are led by Silent Hill director Keiichiro Toyama and boast a number of other people from the Silent Hill and Siren games. Check out the announcement trailer below for some deeply unpleasant monsters rampaging in a city. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 10, 2021 12:08 AM Developers 10 Chambers Collective had a little surprise for everyone at The Game Awards tonight - their co-op horror game GTFO has launched out of early access. It first arrived in early access two years ago, and has had loads of update adding new weapons and environments since. With today's 1.0 launch, it adds even more content too, including new environments, tools, bots, checkpoints and more. That's my weekend plans sorted. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 11:32 PM A new Elden Ring trailer fresh out The Game Awards introduces the story of the new game from Dark Souls developers FromSoftware and Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. Well, I say it introduces the story, I mean it does it in a very Souls way, reeling off names like "the Blade of Miquella, Malenia the Severed" without explaining anything. This seems like it would be the game's opening cinematic so if you watch this trailer now, hey, it's almost as if you're starting Elden Ring two months early. Almost. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 11:26 PM The Game Awards is done and dusted for 2021, and there were buckets of big reveals and new trailers alongside all the trophy handouts. From all the pre-show reveals to the grand (sort of) finale, here's everything you missed at The Game Awards 2021. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 11:13 PM During The Game Awards, Conan Exiles developers Funcom announced Dune: Spice Wars, a real-time strategy game with 4X elements that's coming out in 2022. While Funcom are publishing the game, it's being developed by Shiro Games, the folks who made Northgard. Check out the new trailer below, it's rather vague, but does have some very nice sand in a very large hand. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:52 PM The actual biggest surprise of The Game Awards was the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a sequel coming a decade after Relic's chainsword-wielding action game. Spoice Mahreen was a lovely wee stompy hack-and-slash game, capturing the chunky feeling and ultraviolence of futurefascists in a way no other 40K game had. Ultramarine boy Captain Titus will return, this time cutting into the Tyranid hordes. Check out the announcement trailer. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:28 PM Announced at The Game Awards, Rumbleverse is an upcoming third-person last-man-standing brawler published by Epic Games and developed by Iron Galaxy Games (who've previously worked on the Killer Instinct series, as well as the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro PC ports). I attended a hands-off preview, and it sure does look like a cartoony battle royale. The most standout thing to me was that you could put an entire cooked chicken in your pocket, or throw it at someone, so that's something. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:23 PM With an unexpected live-action appearance from Amanda Waller on stage at The Game Awards, Rocksteady Studios gave a wee look at Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League in motion with its first gameplay trailer. After years of playing goodies in their Batman: Arkham games, now they'll have us playing goodies to kill the goodies—but for a good cause. This new trailer focuses on their attempts to murder the brainwashed Flash, come see. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:21 PM As pandemic restrictions ramp back up in England, hey, let's do 2020 all over again with a return to Among Us too. At The Game Awards tonight, developers Innersloth announced a VR version of their multiplayer hidden roles game. Taking the action into a first-person view for goggleheads, it's being made by Schell Games, the studio behind James Bond-y VR escape room series I Expect You To Die. Check out the announcement trailer below. |

The expansion for Studio MDHR's 1930s cartoon-inspired platformer comes out on June 30th, 2022, and adds a new character to play and a bunch of new bosses to die to over and over again. You can see some of the newbies in the new trailer below from this evening's Game Awards, including a spooky witch and a donkey (mule? horse?) in shining armour. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:31 PM Heavy Rain developers Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games are making Star Wars: Eclipse, an action-adventure game set in the "golden age of the Jedi". It was announced at The Game Awards with a rather dramatic trailer featuring an alien playing some drums, adorable green monkeys in a market, lotsa space ships, and of course, plenty of shiny lightsaber shots. The rumours were true, then. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:29 PM Poor Saltzpyre has been waiting so patiently while all the other characters in Fatshark's Warhammer: Vermintide 2 have received their snazzy new classes over the last year or so, but his wait is finally over. During The Game Awards, the developers announced Saltzpyre players will be able to become the Warrior Priest of Sigmar today, wielding a chunky, glowing hammer for some close-quarters action. He also has new armour that's covered in skulls, which looks very edgy indeed. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:26 PM After needing seven years and several failed starts to successfully launch a game of their own, Amazon Game Studios are perhaps cautiously turning to other developers for their next. Today they announced a release date of February 11th for Lost Ark, the Diablo-y action-RPG first released by Smilegate in South Korea in 2019, which Amazon will publish in Europe and the Americas. Might be alright? It'll free-to-play, anyway. Check out the new trailer from The Game Awards below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:24 PM After yonks of leaving us aching for even a mention of a PC release for Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix casually announced at The Game Awards tonight, oh hey, it's coming next week. Just like that. Next Thursday, the 16th of December, FF7 Remake will hit PC in its expanded Intergrade form. Like many other recent Square Enix RPG ports (and as expected), it will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:05 PM Inflexion Games, the new studio of former BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn, announced their debut game during The Game Awards. Nightingale is a "shared world survival crafting game" set in a Victorian world of gaslamp fantasy, which will send us into magical realms to explore, build farms and communities, craft tools and weapons, and such for a fight against the Fae. Should any Fae be reading this post, allow me to stress to our readers that this is vile propaganda, and to stress to you that I would very much like to wake up with all my teeth. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:00 PM After teasing the return of horror novelist Alan Wake in Control, at The Game Awards tonight, developers Remedy finally announced a full sequel. Alan Wake 2 is coming in 2023, and this time Remedy say it will be a survival horror game, not an action game. Also, Alan looks a bit like Jake Gyllenhaal now? Check out the trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:54 PM The follow-up to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, was first announced at The Game Awards back in 2019, and we haven't heard much about it since then. But it was back at The Game Awards again this year, showing some brand new footage of Senua leading a group of fighters through a rather wet cave to face a giant. It looks fantastic, and incredibly eerie. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:26 PM During the Game Awards pre-show tonight, the reformed Telltale Games announced a new story 'em which I set in the widely admired sci-fi world of The Expanse. Gosh! The Expanse: A Telltale Series will seemingly focus on the show's best character, Camina Drummer, who's played in the game by her show actor, Cara Gee. Aw that's great, that. Helping out on development are Deck Nine Games, the studio behind Life Is Strange: True Colors. Check out the trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:16 PM At tonight's Game Awards, Falcon Age developers Outerloop Games announced Thirsty Suitors, a story-driven RPG about fending off suitors and exes while trying not to disappoint your family. Published by Annapurna Interactive, it looks eccentric and colourful, with battles involve throwing ghostly cars and calling in giant family members to swat your opponents. It also features cooking, skateboarding, and possibly dancing (though I can't quite tell from the trailer if the dancing is separate from the battling). |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:12 PM Gun Interactive, the folks who made Friday The 13th and Layers Of Fear 2, are making a new multiplayer horror game based on the Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Sticking with naming conventions, it's unsurprisingly called The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It'll be based on the film that came out in 1974, and the teaser trailer revealed at The Game Awards features a delightful creepy shot of leatherface. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, December 9, 2021 8:00 PM After 19 years, Homeworld 3 will arrive in 2022 to continue the sci-fi strategy series about leading an armada of spaceships. A new "gameplay" trailer arrived today during the Game Awards pre-show today and yes: absolutely the spaceships still leave those pretty engine trails behind them. The trailer also gives neat-o peeks at spacebattles raging through the ruins of derelict megastructures. See for yourself below. |

Destiny 2 Grasp of Avarice – Phryzhia the Insatiable boss and Sparrow section guide Prior to fighting Phryzhia the Insatiable in Destiny 2, you might want to take note of the Icon of Excess crystal. It's at the initial area after you jump down, and you'll make your way here from time to time. As for the Ogre boss itself, it's shielded at the start. Note: The arena looks a bit like The Devil's Lair where you fought Sepiks Prime. To break Phryzhia the Insat... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Friday, December 10, 2021 1:40 AM The Grasp of Avarice is a new dungeon in Destiny 2. You'll have access to it if you own the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack. Note: For more information, check out our Destiny 2: Season of the Lost guides and features hub. Destiny 2 Grasp of Avarice full dungeon guide The Grasp of Avarice dungeon in Destiny 2 relies on two key mechanics which I'll explain in detail in a while. The first is the Burdened by Riches buff and the second is the use of Scorch Cannons in multiple encounters. There are also two difficulty modes. Legend (i.e., normal) recommends being at 1,310 power level (PL). Master, meanwhile, recommends 1,360 PL. The important distinction here is that Master difficulty rewards Artifice armors. These are essentially the... |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, December 9, 2021 10:01 PM It feels like it's been forever since we've seen any gameplay from Rocksteady, which hasn't released anything since 2015's Arkham Knight. It was announced a while back that the studio was making a Suicide Squad game, but we didn't have much idea of what the game would look like when it finally showed up. Now we must wonder no longer as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League received its first gameplay trailer during tonight's The Game Awards. It's quite a treat to behold the fruits of Rocksteady's labor after all this time, as we've been looking forward to this one. The trailer kicks off with some cinematics showing the characters in action. Characters include Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Deadshot as they run on a rooftop and tangle with The Flash. Before long, we get to see the actual gameplay, such as Captain Boomerang whizzing through the air before sliding on the ground and firing rounds at enemies. Suicid... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, December 9, 2021 9:53 PM One of my favorite trailers from The Game Awards 2021 was the new one for Forspoken. It gave us a little more insight into the game's story. And the protagonist, Frey Holland, looks like she's in a world of trouble. A world she doesn't even know how she got to. Check out the trailer below to see her wielding an arsenal of elemental magical abilities, dodging a dragon, and surfing on an ice board. The surfing gameplay alone looks like it has the makings of an outstanding extreme sports title. The new trailer also announced the release date for Forspoken. The date to mark in your calendars is May 24, 2022. It will be available for PC through Steam and you can already add it to your wishlist. From New York to Athia Frey is a New Yorker. So, it's no surprise she's a little shocked to find herself in a world with magical beasts and people wielding spears. She's going to need to adapt to her new surroundings quickly because there's a myster... |
