Nvidia RTX 4000 – release date, price, specs, and benchmark rumours

Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics cards are set to replace the current-gen GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs, and whispers suggest the green team could skip ahead and release an RTX 5000 series. Confusing, right? Well, to help you navigate the convoluted waters of PC gaming, we've compiled everything we know so far about the green team's next-generation tech.

As much as RTX 4000 GPUs will undoubtedly offer a high level of performance, it's features like Nvidia Reflex and Nvidia DLSS that make them even more attractive to anyone looking to upgrade their gaming PC. However, these next-generation pixel pushers may face stiff competition from the likes of AMD RDNA 3 and Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards.

However, Nvidia isn't content with simply cornering the desktop GPU market and has its sights set on the cloud too. The company's Nvidia GeForce Now service currently provides up to RTX 3080 levels of performance to all manner of devices, such as low-spec PCs and smartphones (and not-so-smart-phones), via cloud streaming. Team green will undoubtedly update GeForce Now with RTX 4000 graphics cards at some point after their release to the public.

How to install a graphics card

You don't have to be a surgeon to install a graphics card, but the vital part is arguably the beating heart of any gaming PC. Sure, the best gaming CPU helps when it comes to brainwork, but a GPU upgrade can keep your rig running the latest games at respectable resolutions and frame rates. Thankfully, it's fairly easy to transplant the component into your current build, as it's one of the simplest changes you can make to your setup.

Before you install a graphics card, it's important to consider whether or not it requires an upgrade. After all, new graphics cards aren't cheap, and ongoing supply issues mean even entry-level cards like Nvidia's RTX 2060 12GB are fetching a high price. If you're failing to boost fps with your current configuration, there's also a chance another component is to blame, as ageing CPUs can cause a performance bottleneck.

The best way to figure this out is to boot up MSI Afterburner and take a look at the graphics card and processor loads. If your chip hits highs of 90 to 100% while your GPU is sitting below 80%, then it's better to go for a CPU upgrade rather than forking out for the wrong part. You might even benefit from a BIOS update or investing in the best gaming RAM - the minimum we'd recommend is 16GB nowadays.

How to overclock your CPU and GPU

Learning how to overclock your CPU and GPU is one of the easiest ways to improve your gaming PC's performance. While overclocking used to be something only liquid-nitrogen equipped techies did, the practice is more user-friendly than ever in 2022, thanks to recent advancements in software and technology.

For those looking to make the most out of their silicon, knowing how to overclock is one of the most valuable things you can learn. Yes, you could always perform a CPU upgrade to boost fps, but why do that when you can increase performance for free instead?

With component prices continuing to rise, the argument for overclocking the best gaming CPU and best graphics card is stronger than ever right now, and there's very little reason not to. Just follow the steps below to get yourself started, and after a bit of work (and maths) you'll be wondering why you didn't learn how to overclock sooner.

What is FreeSync? – How to use AMD's tech with an Nvidia GPU

AMD FreeSync is a hardware solution to the horrors of screen tearing, and the tech comes baked into some of the best gaming monitors. Software solutions like Vsync can help prevent games from becoming a jittery mess, but FreeSync compatible screens can smooth out stuttering and boost fps without a hitch. Sure, if you're rocking one of the green team's best graphics cards, you'll probably be more likely to jump onto the Nvidia G-Sync bandwagon. However, both companies are starting to cooperate in terms of compatibility, making it easier than ever to mix and match.

It used to be the case where buying an AMD FreeSync or Nvidia G-Sync monitor locked you into a specific ecosystem, making it incredibly difficult to switch between the two GPU vendors without giving up the benefits - but not anymore! Fortunately, Nvidia is slowly but surely opening up its G-Sync technology, meaning you can pair a FreeSync monitor with an Nvidia graphics card and vice versa.

GPU politics and compatibility aside, you might still be asking the question "what is FreeSync?" Well, fear not, as we're about to walk you through the ins and outs of screen tearing, G-Sync compatibility, and a breakdown of AMD's FreeSync Premium and Premium Pro tiers.

One Piece Manga Hiatus

The One Piece manga will be taking a one-month hiatus in order to prepare for the series' final arc. In a message to fans, series creator Eiichiro Oda stated that he would release two more chapters before taking the hiatus. As such, One Piece will return with the 34th issue of Shonen Jump on July 25, 2022. Oda also revealed a few details surrounding the upcoming One Piece special broadcast. [Thanks, ryokutya!]

According to Oda, the main reason behind the hiatus is to prepare for the series' next and final arc. With the current Wano Country arc coming to a close, Oda expressed interest in visiting Africa in order to oversee the filming of the One Piece live-action series. However, with the ongoing global pandemic, Oda's plans to travel to Africa were snubbed.

Furthermore, Oda teased a few upcoming events. One such event appears to be some sort of anniversary celebration. There will also be a collaboration, event, and commercial appearing sometime in Summer 2022.

Additionally, the One Piece YouTube account is hosting a special broadcast on June 8, 2022, starting at 7 PM JST (3 AM PDT / 12 PM CEST). The broadcast will reveal the voice actors behind One Piece Film Red's heroine Uta as well as Gordon. Other notable reveals include the film's main teaser trailer, official theme song, a project centered around Uta, and details surrounding the manga's upcoming arc.

The One Piece manga will take a hiatus from the 30th issue of Shonen Jump, and return with the 34th issue on July 25, 2022. The upcoming film, One Piece Film Red, will release in Japanese theatres on August 6, 2022.

Netflix Resident Evil

The new Resident Evil live-action series is approaching its release date: July 14, 2022. Netflix confirmed the exact date with a new teaser trailer that lays out the premise of the show. The trailer itself first aired as part of Netflix's ongoing "Geeked Week" event promoting upcoming productions.

Check out the trailer below.

The Netflix Resident Evil trailer is the most substantial look yet at the series, which has been in development since 2020. It doesn't appear to have direct connections to other Resident Evil media. Compared to the teaser released in May, there are also many more looks at the monsters about to turn things upside down for teen sisters Jade and Billie Wesker (Ella Balinska and Adeline Rudolph). They and their father Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick) move to New Raccoon City in 2022. The city is run by the Umbrella Corporation, which is concealing sinister activities involving the T-virus, the classic zombie-creating age of Resident Evil lore. According to a description from The Hollywood Reporter, the series will take place in two time periods: 2022 and 2036.

In 2022, the sisters will explore the city and uncover its dark secrets, and their father's possible involvement in them. Jade in particular will be involved in an incident that causes the world to be overrun by T-virus-mutated monsters and zombies. In 2036, Jade has been struggling to survive in the fallen world, haunted by her past and looking for clues as to what happened to her sister.

The trailer also contains scenes showing off a number of monsters, such as one that resembles a Licker, zombie dogs, giant spiders, and what may be the series' take on a Tyrant or Nemesis.

Resident Evil premieres on Netflix on July 14, 2022. A remake of Resident Evil 4 is in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
