PCGamesN Tuesday, January 31, 2023 12:56 PM Unlike Goku in Dragon Ball, you don't have to train with Master Roshi to get the Fortnite Kamehameha. Instead, like most weapons, you need to pick up an item to use this incredible technique. Once you do, you'll have an incredibly powerful, albeit rather sluggish, beam attack at your disposal. Upon picking up a Fortnite Kamehameha item, you'll be able to unleash a burst of energy up to three times. Firing the weapon in the battle royale game launches you into the air and blasts all objects and enemies in the area. The Kamehameha does 100 damage on impact and 40 damage every second (for a total duration of three seconds) to targets inside its blast. After firing off a beam, you will need to wait 15 seconds for it to recharge. It's possible to clash with Kamehameha waves to avoid damage, though your timing needs to be perfect. The Nimbus is a reusable tool that launches you into the air before slowly floating down to the ground. You have to wait to use the same Nimbus cloud for 20 seconds, but it will never run out. PCGamesN Tuesday, January 31, 2023 12:28 PM Want to know what this week's Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon is? Each week you've got a chance at a different weapon for completing Nightfall Strikes, and ever since Season of the Lost, fan-favourite legacy weapons from the original Destiny has been added to the rotation. New seasons often introduce new weapons into the rotation, so it's more important than ever to know in advance the Nightfall weapon schedule. Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist available in the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike playlist in the free PC game. Each week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall, and offered in five escalating difficulties, with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and enemy power levels cranking up. The coveted Nightfall weapons have a chance to drop from any Nightfall Strike difficulty, but it's far more likely at higher levels, which is something you'll want to maximise your chances for with the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date on the horizon. Your best bet for farming each week's Nightfall weapon is to set the Strike to Master difficulty. You should also note that there's no automatic matchmaking above Hero difficulty, however, so you'll need to get a squad together. PCGamesN Tuesday, January 31, 2023 11:24 AM Looking for a list of the best hacking games on PC? Game developers have long valued the 'hacker ethic' — the will and skill to grab a game by the scruff of its code, rip it apart, and put the pieces together in a new way. Id Software prioritized the nascent modding community when they were creating Doom, Valve courted it from Half-Life onward and the entirety of the MOBA genre stems from folks futzing with Warcraft III. Of course, most players are just that: players. We see numbers and letters in a line of code; not meaning. But, there's a lineage of games that have sought to deliver the fantasy of being in complete command of a computer's functions; of using that control to wreak destruction - or to avert it. This list includes some of the best PC games, whether part of the sci-fi world of a multitude of space games, encouraging team work in one of the best co-op games, or of course putting you in the hacker's seat of an RPG game, so there's something for everyone in our list of the best hacking games in 2023. What's better than surrounding your base with cats, dogs, and horses, alongside your pastoral farms full of sheep, chicken, pigs, and cows? While tamed cats and dogs (wolves) are mostly just cute Minecraft mobs - aside from their ability to scare creepers, bring gifts, or attack hostile enemies - Minecraft horses are considerably more useful, allowing you to traverse infinite Minecraft seeds faster than usual. PCGamesN Tuesday, January 31, 2023 11:08 AM Want to know the Diablo 4 release date and all the latest news? The upcoming entry in the demon-slaying action RPG series has many teasers and trailers. They showcase the various classes we can use to take on the hordes of monsters that block the way between the horned lord of the underworld and, well, us. The roster of playable Diablo 4 classes includes transforming druids, spell-flinging wizards, and somersaulting rogues. Each class has unique combat skills to weave through every shambling zombie, skittering demon, and colossal terror that awaits you in these dank, hallowed halls. So far, so familiar, but that's hardly going to upset the series' devoted fans. However, despite a relatively open development process, we only just got confirmation about when the Diablo 4 release date is. I've said before in similar blogs that I use one to ferry videos from my computer downstairs to my TV, but I also rely on one to quickly set up a PC for performance testing and copy game files to my Steam Deck. That's why I thought I should tell you that these WH-1000XM5s are discounted to £249 on Sony's UK site when you use code UPGRADE50 to knock £50 off the price. This is the first time they've dropped to this level, and for a go-anywhere set of headphones they might just be worth a look. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, January 31, 2023 12:00 PM Dead Space's remake treatment has produced a piece of gory greatness, some Steam Deck wobbles notwithstanding. Vid bud Liam touched on the visual upgrades in his review, but since it's been shaking my bones even harder than the original did, I wanted to dive even deeper into the mottled flesh of the modernised Dead Space to examine how all those new polygons and effects aren't just there to please nerds. They do, in fact, make the remake scarier. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, January 31, 2023 12:00 PM I've come to regard the four main games in the Life Is Strange franchise as kind of like the siblings in a big family. There's the eldest, who will always be heaped with praise because no matter what the others achieve, she did it all first. Her twin is always keen to remind you that even though she's the younger and perhaps not quite as accomplished half of the duo, she's more charismatic and less coy about who she is and what she wants. Then there's the youngest, who's extremely likeable, in large part because she's learned what behaviours to avoid just by watching the others make mistakes; even if she's modelled herself on the eldest a bit too closely in her quest for approval, and so hasn't really forged her own identity. Then there's Life Is Strange 2: the awkward middle child. Still very recognisably a member of the family, but the one that stands out in all the photos because he's just a bit gawky. He's experimented a lot with his storytelling and plotline in an attempt to make himself stand out, and it's only sort-of worked. His romantic subplots are underdeveloped, his villains are one-dimensional, and his attempt at tackling a Very Serious Issue has grown in all crooked. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, January 31, 2023 11:31 AM Last Friday afternoon, 40 developers from Ubisoft Paris gathered to strike in the first labour stoppage of Ubisoft's history. It's the capper on what has been a turbulent month for the company. Three weeks ago Ubisoft announced they were cancelling three unannounced games amid "worsening macroeconomic conditions." In a letter to employees, CEO Yves Guillemot said that "the ball is in your court" in regard to hitting deadlines and overturning Ubisoft's sticky financial situation. French union Solidaires Informatique said that Guillemot's "words mean something: overtime, managerial pressure, burnout, etc," and called on Ubisoft Paris employees to strike for better pay and working hours. It seems some devs heard the call. |

Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 5:00 PM Chilla's Art announced that its newest title, The Karaoke, will come out on February 3, 2023. It is already available on Steam for those who want to Wishlist it. The Karaoke will be a J-Horror game about a high school girl at a karaoke. From screenshots, it looks like it will have a similar aesthetic and play style to many of Chilla's Art's past games. As it is a J-Horror game, The Karaoke will only have Japanese audio. However, it will support a total of ten languages for its interface and subtitles. These languages include English, Korean, German, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and more. Outside of exploration and mystery-solving that is common in Chilla's Art games, there will also be basketball and karaoke mini-games. Games from Chilla's Art have been popular with streamers for several years now. They usually have a low-resolution retro aesthetic, as well as multiple endings. Some popular games from Chilla's Art include Aka Manto, The Convenience Store, and The Closing Shift. Though there are some exceptions, the gameplay usually features the protagonist experiencing bizarre phenomena over the course of several nights. They can gather clues to figure out the tragic history of the antagonist. This culminates into a final confrontation at the end. The Karaoke will come out on Windows PCs on February 3, 2023. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 4:00 PM To commemorate the establishment of January 31st as the official "Final Fantasy VII Day" by the Japan Anniversary Association, Square Enix released a series of Spotify playlists with original music from Final Fantasy VII associated with emblematic characters from the franchise. You can find all eight Spotify playlists in the official Final Fantasy VII portal. https://twitter.com/sem_sep/status/1620256554774839299 Each one of the characters' playlists includes between 8 to 10 songs from the original Final Fantasy VII, FFVII Remake, Jazz albums, and acoustic arrangements, among others. These tracks include songs closely associated to the characters the playlists are named after, and include classics such as "One-Winged Angel" in Sephiroth's playlist, or "Those Who Fight" in Cloud's playlist. The playlists only include characters that have made an appearance in FF7 Remake so far, which leaves fan favorites Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind out of songs for the time being. To celebrate the first iteration of Final Fantasy VII Day, Square Enix and FuturLab also announced free FFVII themed downloadable content for PowerWash Simulator, where players will be able to clean familiar items from the game and locales from Midgar. Final Fantasy VII Remake is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. Yoshinori Kitase, the director and producer of FFVII Remake recently talked about the content they have planned for the Remake series after 2023. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 3:30 PM Street Fighter: Duel, a mobile game based on the series from Tencent, TopJoy, and Capcom, is finally about to appear worldwide. In 2021 at the Capcom Pro-Tour, a localization was teased. Now, Crunchyroll and Capcom confirmed it will appear in February 2023. It also opened pre-registration for the game. Here's the latest Street Fighter: Duel trailer. It doesn't show any gameplay. Rather, it features series regulars like Ryu, Cammy, Guile, Akuma, Juri, Blanka, Chun-Li, and Ken. As for how it works, people take characters they've acquired and bring them into stages. They then beat up foes by tapping the character icons on the right side of the screen to unleash special attacks. It is an RPG, rather than a traditional fighting game. People will also be able to earn special skins for members of the cast. Here are the pre-registration rewards for the game. As of 1pm ET on January 31, 2023, potential players only hit tier one.
Street Fighter: Duel will appear on mobile devices in North America, Europe, and Australia in February 2023. It launched in November 2020 in China. The next mainline game is Street Fighter 6, which will appear on June 2, 2023 on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and PC. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 3:00 PM These days, the Evercade game library's depth and variety are starting to rival many of the full libraries of the consoles the platform emulates. The latest cart, Indie Heroes 2, is a great example of that, showcasing creativity and variety from a slate of hobbyist developers. Want to know more? Hey, great! Conveniently we have more article to read if you just keep scrolling a little bit. The Evercade Indie Heroes Collection 2 cartridge compiles games that appeared on the Evercade VS as monthly bonuses. While that was a nice little digital treat, Evercade fans (and the games' developers) probably appreciate the more permanent physical nature of a cartridge release. (Also, it's entirely possible that this was the plan all along? In which case the Game of the Month thing seems like savvy marketing.) Our favorite title in the bunch might be Lowtek Games' Tapeworm Disco Puzzle. In this game, you're extending and maneuvering a worm to collect various items. It felt a lot like Blazing Rangers without the time pressure. And in a compilation with nearly a dozen options for action? It was nice to catch our breath and think through solutions. While all the games have ended up on the Evercade, they were built for a variety of retro platforms. This includes two Game Boy titles: Lunar Journey and Gelatinous: Humanity Lost. These especially test the creators' ability to build within constraints, as already-limiting old console specs are about as simple as they can get on the venerable green-tinged brick. Lunar Journey is essentially a point-and-click adventure. In it, you find items to solve whimsical problems and let you progress on your mission to collect resources on the moon. Gelatinous is a platformer with some real Metroid II vibes, in terms of ability acquisition, level design and Game Boy-era "cinematic" presentation. On the other end of things, no included title pushes visuals as much as Eyra, The Crow Maiden. Which is weird, given the game's origins! What was once an NES project also saw ports to 16-bit systems through crowdfunding stretch goals, and the Genesis build is what appears in this collection. We suppose this meant the focus really was on the visual differences. The result is a very saturated, detailed world for some very classic-feeling platforming. It's interesting to see a game look like this but deliver more plodding, NES-style movement and attacks! It worked enough for us, though. The game count gets a little fuzzy with the inclusion of the Cowlitz Gamers Adventure and Gruniożerca trilogies. These two "games" from developers Lukasz Kur and M-Tee each offer a variety of experiences within the same shared theme and world. We're particularly fond of the second and third Gruniożerca games! These are two very different approaches to block traversal puzzles. You hop around as a guinea pig, placing and removing limited blocks in 2 and stepping on them a certain number of times in 3. The Cowlitz games are screen-based collection platformers, with the scale and co-op approach of the last two feeling quite Bubble Bobble-like. It will surprise absolutely no one to learn that many people who love retro games enough to make one of their own are big fans of Zelda. Two games in the collection, Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King and Reknum Souls Adventure, seek to iterate on those sorts of ideas. Anguna takes the dungeon format and adds stats and experience. Reknum has a full Hyrule-esque overworld, as well as some side-scrolling sequences. If you're more into the exploration and mysteries part of Zelda? Reknum has you covered. Less talking, more slashing? Try Anguna. Nix: The Paradox Relic could be of interest, too, which we'd quickly describe as NES Metroid starring the Star Fox cast. Also included in the collection are Nessy the Robot, Beer Slinger, and Yeah Yeah Beebiss II. As with other Evercade carts, Indie Heroes 2 includes a full-color manual explaining the games' basics and developer origins. With a pack like this, that's especially nice! Often, knowing the story behind an indie new-retro game makes playing a lot more fun. Also, the extra bit of credit for the people who did all the hard work? It's probably appreciated. The Evercade Indie Heroes Collection 2 cartridge launches January 31, 2023. It joins a library of dozens of compilations for the platform. Want a closer look at those? Check out our Evercade archive. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 2:30 PM Microsoft announced a wave of delistings for the Xbox 360 Marketplace, and a number of RPGs like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are about to disappear. The two were added to the store in September 2016. The company shared PDF lists for each region on its official support site. Both games appear on the lists for the US and UK. So do other notable titles like Dark Souls, Jet Set Radio, Mass Effect 2, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, and The Witcher 2. Here is the full list of games that will start to be delisted from the Xbox 360 Marketplace as of February 7, 2023. Microsoft didn't say exactly when all of them could be removed.
While these games will be gone, it only means they will no longer be available to buy digitally. People who buy them before their delisting will still own them. They can then download them from their libraries. People have until February 7, 2023 to buy games like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey for their Xbox 360. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 2:00 PM There's a new trailer for part one of the Sailor Moon Cosmos movie, and it features a theme song by Daoko. The video shows major moments from the initial part of the two part presentation. All of this is set to Daoko's "Tsuki no Hana." [Thanks, Crunchyroll!] Here's the new Sailor Moon Cosmos part one movie trailer. It begins with Usagi revisiting past events, before showing the Starlights and Chibi-Chibi. Just after the 40 second mark, the Daoko song "Tsuki no Hana" begins playing. Here is the official key art and poster for this first part of the film. This is the second Sailor Moon Cosmos movie trailer to show up in January 2023. Another one focused on the Sailor Starlights. We also learned that Kotono Mitsuishi would play Chibi-Chibi in the films. As for Daoko, people may know the singer best for the songs she created for the Dragalia Lost soundtrack. In addition to her themes being used during menus and openings for the main game, she also contributed tracks during special events. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos part one will debut in Japan on June 9, 2023. The second part of the film will appear in theaters in Japan on June 30, 2023. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 1:30 PM Marvelous delayed the Japanese release of Loop8 from March 16, 2023 to June 1, 2023. The North American and European versions will appear on June 6, 2023. On its Twitter account, Marvelous has issued an apology to both fans and those involved with the work. According to the announcement, this delay is to improve on the overall quality of the game. [Thanks, Famitsu!] Loop8 is not the only game that has had to delay its initial release because the development team wanted to polish up the gameplay. Granblue Fantasy Relink has had to push back its release window several times due to this exact same reason. Marvelous first announced Loop8 during the February 2022 Nintendo Direct presentation. It is an RPG with multiple endings dependent on your dialog choices. The characters' relationships and moods are always in flux thanks to the "Kareru System" and so you have to pick your dialog based on what they feel or want at the moment. Loop8 will also have a time management system, as you only have a month before the Kegai destroy the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1WkVaIpVDQ Loop8 will come out in Japan on June 1, 2023 and worldwide on June 6, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. As of January 31, 2023, players will no longer be able to purchase items such as the Daily Pass. As well, if you are playing the game from outside of Japan, you will not be able to access the server. Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 12:30 PM The Chaldea stream on January 31, 2023 introduced two new playable Servants who will debut in the Japanese version of Fate/Grand Order: Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc. Tezcatlipoca will be an SSR Assassin. Meanwhile, Tlaloc will be an SR Pretender. Both Servants are available in the gacha until February 14, 2023. Because they just appeared in Fate/Grand Order, we have little information on how Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc will work in-game. During the stream, Lasengle showed off their Noble Phantasm animations. It seems that Tezcatlipoca's Noble Phantasm will hit all enemies, whereas Tlaloc's is single target. You can watch the Noble Phantasms for Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc in Fate/Grand Order here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7ETr9sYLV0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLqdODoo73c Both Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc have already appeared in Lostbelt 7 Part 1 as NPCs. During Part 1, Tlaloc was a Ruler and a boss that Chaldea had to fight. As for in reality, both of them are part of Aztec religion. Tezcatlipoca was a major deity and the god of providence for the Aztecs. As for Tlaloc, he is the god of rain. Fate/Grand Order is readily available for mobile devices, and Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc are in the gacha until February 14, 2023. They are only on the Japanese server. Lostbelt 7 Part 2 will be delayed, and Lasengle has not yet given a date for when it will come out. The post Fate/Grand Order Introduces Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 12:00 PM E3 2023 will return on June 13, 2023, but it seems Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony won't bring the Xbox One or Series X, Switch, PS4, or PS5 there. IGN said sources claimed all three won't take part. However, people will likely see events from the big three around E3, even if they don't properly attend. [Thanks, IGN!] Between 2020 and 2022, E3 wasn't held in-person. This occurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The unrelated Summer Games Fest appeared in its place all three years. While the first Summer Games Fest took place from May 2020 to August 2020, ensuing years' events appeared primarily in June, just like E3. Companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony still held virtual presentations during that time period, despite the absence of E3. The alleged reports from IGN sources suggest that while E3 2023 will be in-person in Los Angeles, California, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony will not run booths at the event. They will also apparently not affiliate themselves, though IGN noted Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer suggested it will feature a showcase around the same time. While the big three will opt out, people should still expect to see PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Switch games from other developers and publishers at the event. E3 2023 will run June 13-16, 2023 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California. The post Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony Apparently Skipping E3 2023 appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 11:30 AM Square Enix announced a new Final Fantasy VII 25th anniversary activity on FFVII Day. The latest affair involves Lego. The company opened a vote tasking people to pick one FFVII scene to recreate with Lego bricks. The company will then build it. Once done, it will hold a contest to raffle off the completed set. There are four options in this Lego poll, and all of them involve scenes that appeared in both Final Fantasy VII and FFVII Remake. People can select Aerith's House in Midgar's Sector 5 Slums, The Honeybee Inn in the Wall Market Sector 6 Slums, the Sector 5 Slums Church Aerith visits, or the Nibelheim Water Tower Cloud and Tifa sit on in flashbacks. The official Twitter account shared images of all four locations, to offer a hint as to how the final FFVII Lego scene could look.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. The FFVII Lego scene poll is live from January 31, 2023 until February 7, 2023. The post FFVII Lego Scene Poll Includes Honeybee Inn, Sector 5 Church appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Tuesday, January 31, 2023 11:00 AM During the Chaldea stream on January 31, 2023, Lasengle announced it will delay the release of Lostbelt 7 Part 2 in Fate/Grand Order. However, the delay only lasted a few hours. As an apology, it will offer all players 10 Saint Quartz. You will be able to automatically obtain these Saint Quartz when you log in between February 1, 2023 and July 31, 2023. Lasengle apologized to all of the players who had been excited for the second half of Lostbelt 7. This news came at the last minute, as many fans had believed the story would drop after the stream. According to the announcement, a delay in the development schedule was the reason why Lostbelt 7 Part 2 was not immediately available. You can check out the two Lostbelt 7 Part 2 commercials for Fate/Grand Order here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36m3Gt31ob0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAegw11cgdM The first half of Lostbelt 7 launched on December 25, 2022. Its release marks us entering the seventh and Lostbelt of Fate/Grand Order's second arc. Ahead of the Part 2 launch, Lasengle also introduced Nitocris Alter, who is an SSR Avenger Servant. Her pick-up banner will end on February 1, 2023 (which is likely when Lostbelt 7 Part 2 was supposed to come out). Players who do not get her will be able to do so from the permanent gacha. Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices, and Lostbelt 7 Part 2 is out now after a brief delay. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, January 31, 2023 5:28 PM Coming into the new year, we have a slate of highly anticipated games worth adding to the wish list. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to the suprisingly good Jedi: Fallen Order, was among them. Thankfully, it still is, though fans will now have to hold off a little longer to continue the journey of Cal Kestis. Jedi: Survivor has been delayed, but it's not all bad news. Game Director Stig Asmussen dropped the news today in a message to the community. According to the post, Jedi: Survivor has been delayed from March 17 to April 28 in order to improve stability and polish. Asmussen writes that the team wants to "hit the Respawn quality bar," which requires a little bit of extra time. As mentioned, it's not all bad news.
